One of the more special spots located just 14 miles south from our home is Solomons Island. It is a charming village full of shops, great restaurants and fun activities for the entire family at the Calvert Marine Museum. The museum is a public, non-profit, educational, regionally oriented museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, research, and interpretation of the culture and natural history of Southern Maryland. They offer concerts and historical tours. Explore the history, culture, and lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River all in one place. brbrPlease note, swimming is a challenge in any part of they Chesapeake Bay. Jelly fish arrives generally the lsst week in June and the first week in July which prohibits swimming. Be sure to walk on the pier before you go swimming even in May or June just to make sure they have not arrived. When a storm is about to arrive, the jelly fish go deep as they are very much affected by the salinity in the water.
