Beautiful views of the Bay. We practically hung out on the screened porch the entire time watching eagles. House was very clean and quiet. Plenty of room. Appliances are new. This is our 2nd stay. We’ll be back again.
My husband and my three sons and I spent a delightful autumn week at this bayside property in Scientists' Cliffs! The house was clean, spacious and well supplied with everything we needed. The view of the water was gorgeous! We enjoyed walking to the beach, bicycling through the neighborhood and hiking the nearby trails. We met several of the neighbors, who were all warmly welcoming. We highly recommend this pleasant, relaxing place to stay!
Wonderful stay in a very unique location. Enjoyed the private beach, great for walks, exploring and searching for shark teeth fossils. Quiet neighborhood, close to nature trails and picturesque coastline. House was great - had everything, including incredible views/sunrises. Would love to return one day.
This cozy & charming house provided an excellent getaway for our group. We go on an annual vacation together, but of course, this year came with much different needs and challenges. It was our great fortune to find a place that provided a wonderful stay-put-vacation; comfortable rooms and furnishings, private beach access, and wows with amazing views of the Chesapeake that required nothing more than lounging on the screened porch. We also found Scientists' Cliffs to be a friendly and tranquil community. Our hosts left us a warm welcome, and we enjoyed eating in, jigsaw puzzles, watching the osprey during the day and bats as night fell, long strolls to beachcomb before and after the heat of the day, and easygoing evenings on the porch with wine. Easy to get to and close to town for our one grocery store stop. Plenty of space for the four of us with ample beds, linens, and seating to choose from, in a house that felt homey along with its coastal charm. Definitely a recommended spot for quiet getaways, and if you book, hopefully on your beach walks you find a shark's tooth or three.
The pictures of the view do not do this house justice. It was gorgeous - one of the best we have seen at a rental. We fell in love with this charming neighborhood. Kids enjoyed the bay, the pool, the yard and fire pit. The porch was our favorite spot and we spent most our time there. Well stocked kitchen and house (Dishes, spices, towels etc). Owner was helpful with our questions.
Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us. We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the bay from the screened porch , and the nearby private beach. We visited nearby popular spots . It was great ! FYI - The beach has jelly fish this time of year.
Great house, beautiful views, easy access to beach. The house was comfortable for the 9 of us, and the deck was a popular spot to relax and look at the water view. We did not have great weather while we visited, very rainy but we were able to do day trips to DC and Baltimore. When the rain cleared, the beach was just down the road and the water was warm, and the beach was very private. The pool was nice for a quick swim and some of us took advantage of the many hiking teails in the area. Definitely would recommend this vacation house. The owners were accessible if needed but also had provided clear instructions and everything in the house was in working order so we didn't need to get in touch with them during our stay. AC in all the rooms was very much apprciated.
Amazing location for those looking for a nice calm and quiet family vacation spot. The owners were very responsive and patiently answered all of our questions as we got ready for our trip. We definitely got a sense that they were great hosts that want to make sure that everyone who stays at their house enjoys it. The community was very wooded and that gave everything a cottage feel, and then the back of the house opens up to an amazing view of the bay. It felt like the best parts of a cottage and a beach house put together. The inside of the house is nice and open with a beautiful modern kitchen and living room. The screened in porch was our absolute favorite part of the house, a great place to just sit and look over the bay. The basement was setup like a guest suite and had access to a second full bathroom. The house did get a bit warm the first night, but the rest of the week at night we opened the windows instead of a/c and the cool bay breeze was great. The beach itself was fantastic. A bit of a hike down the stairs, but well worth it. It was fairly empty when while we were there. Our kids found several sharks teeth and lots of different shells. Kayaking was great and the water was fairly calm. Local attractions that we enjoyed were the Calvert Marine Museum, nearby hiking trails and the Running Hare vineyard. Even just walking around the neighborhood was enjoyable, as we came across an amazing sculpture garden and a nice pond. We would definitely recommend staying here.
The place is great. We used it as our home base and went on day trips (Gettysburg, Antietam, DC, Naval Academy). The place is beautiful, had everything we needed, the view was impressive, the owner was very helpful, the beach was great for walking. The only downside for us was our timing was poor for swimming...lots and lots of jelly fish. However, the owner provides access to a beautiful pool which was a good substitute. Would definitely rent it again.
This house was great for our vacation on the Chesapeake Bay. We stayed here with our two young children and another family with 3 children of their own. The house is located in a great spot with an amazing view over the Chesapeake Bay with easy access to the private beach and the community swimming pool close by. Everything was setup and ready to go at the house when we arrived with easy to follow instructions about the house and community rules. Access to the beach was by the long staircase or by taking a two minute drive to the parking area. The kids enjoyed the bay much more than some of our other trips to the ocean because of the smaller waves and shallow water that goes way out off shore. The kayaks provided by the Head's were also a nice touch for some short trips out onto the bay. While staying at the house we took a couple of day trips to the south. One day to the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons Island, which is great for kids and adults alike to get some good history of the area. The other day trip to the small water park at the Cove Point Park in Lusby. Washington, D.C. could also be an easy day trip from this location. If you enjoy history don't miss out on reading the history book on Scientists Cliffs that is at the house as well, I really enjoyed learning about the history of this unique community. Definitely considering coming back to this area next year.
