LENGTH-OF-STAY CHANGE: Hi everyone! In the past, shorter stays were pretty common here, and I loved hosting all kinds of visits. These days, reservations have a 30-day minimum. If you’re curious about why the change and were hoping for something a bit shorter, feel free to reach out to the owner. Always happy to chat!

You don't have to go far to feel far away from it all. The water view is stunning, described as breathtaking and exquisite. A rustic and cozy log cabin, in the woods, with a fire place, on a cliff, on the water. A great place to relax, walk the beach or nearby hiking trails. Come walk the beach and enjoy the expansive view from the deck, admire the fall foliage, or stay inside during cozy fall or crisp winter weather with a fire going. Look for fossilized sharks teeth on the community's private beach, or watch lightly falling snow on the water and trees, while you're warm and toasty inside with a fire going. Relax, enjoy the view and be at peace in every season.

NOTE 1: Hi everyone who's been looking at my property but not yet booked a stay, please just send me a message here letting me know that you're considering staying some time. I let people know of special opportunities to stay or events in the area that they may not know about but really like. If you've reached out to me here, then I can let you know when something's coming up. Sound good

Note 2: This property, located about 15 minutes from Exelon's Calvert Cliffs, offers a cozy home with a beautiful view and fireplace. Multi-week winter stay discounts are available, making it a great spot to stay while working nearby.

This listing contains terrific information about my cabin and what you should know to have a most enjoyable stay. I hope you'll read to the end.

On clear nights, the cabin offers a stunning stargazing experience, away from city lights, where you can marvel at the brightness of stars and possibly see the Milky Way. Sitting on the deck, you can enjoy the peacefulness of the waves and the beauty of the night sky. A full moon adds an extra touch with shimmering moonlight on the water, making for a memorable experience.

This charming log cabin, originally built in the 1930s and carefully updated over time, combines rustic appeal with modern comforts, including central air, a La-Z-Boy sofa, Smart TV, Wi-Fi, and a fully-equipped kitchen. It sleeps 5 with a king bed, twin bed, and queen sofa bed. Located just an hour from Washington DC and Annapolis, it's the perfect cozy getaway.

I value diversity. LGBTQIA travelers welcome!

Relax surrounded by nature and stunning waterfront views, or be active and walk the beach looking for shark's tooth fossils, or hike nearby nature trails. The large windows and full deck let you enjoy the view in comfort. The perfect weekend or holiday getaway place, especially with the cozy fireplace going. Located on a 65-foot cliff, it's just a short walk to a beach and a 5-minute drive to a private community beach. Stroll the beach and enjoy the excitement of searching for fossilized shark's teeth that have washed up from the Chesapeake Bay. Walk the paths in the community or the trails in the nearby American Chestnut Land Trust and enjoy the scenic natural beauty. Visit local museums and historical sites. Eat at local restaurants or prepare your own food and dine on the deck while enjoying the waterfront view.

I love my neighbors. They are the best! Together we all enjoy a very quiet and relaxed neighborhood surrounded by nature's beauty. I'm committed to finding guests who will maintain the tranquility, respect community rules, and avoid parties or events. If you enjoy nature and a calm, relaxing atmosphere, you're welcome to request a stay at the cabin.

Internet Service is generally quite reliable and speedy. Neither I nor guests have had any trouble using Zoom or doing other online video conferencing.

The main bedroom downstairs contains a king bed. There is a small, rustic, attached full bathroom, closets, and five windows offering direct views of the Chesapeake Bay.

The second bedroom upstairs is an alcove off of the dining room, so it has only 3 walls but is private from the living room. It has a twin bed surrounded by book shelves and from that bed you can see the Chesapeake Bay and have great views of the sunrise while staying cozy under the covers. There is a full bathroom upstairs and a closet for clothes.

The living room couch folds out into a queen-sized bed with an inflatable pillow top. Positioned in front of the fireplace, it offers great views of the Chesapeake Bay through the dining room.

The path from the parking area to the main floor of the cabin is step-free, making for an easy walk.

Some Terrifically-Important-But-Not-Terribly-Exciting Details About Cleaning, Linens, Pets and Babies - Please Please Read This! Babies who cannot walk or crawl are welcome, but otherwise there is a minimum age of 5 for all guests. Outside the kitchen door is a doorbell camera that can record audio and video, and inside is a security camera in the living room. The Renter's Guide tells you how to find the indoor camera and disable it. Some pets are allowed for a pet fee, 50 lbs maximum per pet (if larger, discuss with owner for a possible waiver). Most dogs under 2 years of age or who bark frequently are not allowed. If the total weight for 1 or more pets is more than 50 lbs, then at minimum an additional (and potentially more) pet fee will be charged. At the time you book your stay, please send a message and let the owner know your pet's age, breed, weight, barking habits & degree of housebrokeness. The cabin's pet guidelines can be sent in advance to you if you'd like, and if you book a stay they'll be sent to you to confirm that you and your much loved furry pal can follow them. After you schedule a stay we'll talk live over the phone, then a customized contract (the same one VRBO makes available to you to download and read before scheduling your stay) will be sent to you for signature. Now, wasn't that all very interesting

No events, parties, disturbing of neighbors, boats on a trailer, or double-cab pickup trucks with a long bed allowed (too long for the parking area). Instead, come for quiet relaxation, stargazing, and nature at this cozy waterfront log cabin on the Chesapeake Bay.

This place is magical! The view – 180 of sky and water- is ever-changing and SO relaxing. The cabin itself is charming and cozy and deliciously quiet. Brett, the host, was delightful to work with. We can’t wait to come back.

Hubby and I loved our stay in this rustic cabin. It is above the water with unobstructed views. We saw a LOT of birds during our stay. There were many Osprey flying around and catching their breakfasts/dinners right in front of us! There were bald eagles in the neighbors tree. Brett is very helpful and nice. The cabin is well supplied with nearly everything - TV, binoculars, telescope, beach chairs, as well as the essentials like Kleenex, paper towels, TP, etc. I recommend bringing your own sheets and towels to avoid a fee. There is no washer or dryer (so the housekeeper has to take it away in order to clean it). There are safe roads and trails to walk on and a lot more hiking if you don’t mind a short drive. It is the perfect place for a getaway of any length!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this kitschy, cool, rustic cabin with a million-dollar view. Communing with the ospreys, hummingbirds and the bald eagle who perched numerous times on a nearby tree was an added bonus. And, the owner may be the most friendly/helpful we’ve ever rented from. We hope to be back some day. Thanks!

Everything about this cabin was just what we were looking for! From the initial booking until we left we were taken care of by Brett. The pictures on-line were spot on but seeing the bay view in person from the windows and deck took my breath. There was a lot to do and we took advantage of close by activities (hiking, paddle-boarding, kayaking, jet skiing) but the cabin is a destination in itself with it's peaceful and calm surroundings. We were blessed with beautiful sunrises, hummingbirds and butterfly friends visiting all day and osprey, bald eagle and deer sightings daily! We had an amazing time connecting with nature and each other as a family during our stay!

Brett was by far the best host I’ve ever interacted with on VRBO. There was consistent communication before, during, and after our stay to make sure I had the best experience possible. The cabin was also wonderful. It is an old cabin with tons of charm and character. The water views are as awesome as the pictures show. Every morning and evening a bald eagle perched on a tree beside the property. If you love bird watching there was a wonderful showing there as well. I definitely plan on returning to the cabin and spending future vacations here!

The Navy cabin was just as pictured/described and Brett was a pleasure to deal with. The views were spectacular and we greatly enjoyed exploring the small beaches nearby. A day trip to Solomon‘s capped off our stay. Would love to go back and enjoy the serene nature of this rental.

We were looking for a quiet stay in a beautiful place and that was our experience. The view of the bay is spectacular. The neighborhood is quiet and an easy drive from DC, so this is a great place to find some peace when that's what's needed. There was a windstorm that knocked out power for much of the region one day. Brett was responsive and helpful in dealing with that unexpected event.

There are so many reasons to visit Scientists’ Cliffs in the winter, especially if you enjoy cozying up with your honey by the beach. The warm, inviting cabin features an oversized hearth and breathtaking 180-degree views of the Chesapeake Bay from atop a cliff. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the endless hiking opportunities, whether it’s searching for shark teeth along the beach or exploring the nearby land trust trails. As the neighborhood history book in the cabin notes, “Scientists’ Cliffs is not fancy. You have to like roughing it to some degree.” But don’t let that deter you—host Brett is always available virtually to ensure your stay goes smoothly. We can’t wait to return, especially with our Vizsla, who absolutely loved it!

Forget your cookie cutter, unlived in and unloved rentals. If you’re looking for a quirky, rustic, eclectic authentic 1930’s log cabin, a genuine family home (Brett is an exceptional host and wants you to love his home as much as he does) surrounded by unspoiled nature with an unparalleled view of the magnificent Chesapeake Bay this is the ticket. From the crackling fireplace to the panoramic water view I felt like I was living on an historic old boat, with every breath of the restorative air on the beautiful deck, I could feel the stress of city life leaving me. I spent hours just watching the colours of the water change, and the birds of prey pass overhead. My elderly pup & I loved our daily visits to the beach and walks around the hilly neighborhood and the nature trails.

We were welcomed by a very cozy, warm, clean cabin. Peaceful, restful, gorgeous view and pretty much everything you would need in a cabin. It is important to remember it is a cabin so not all the comforts of home but pretty close. The deck and the view of the Chesapeake is amazingly soothing. Eagles daily flying overhead, trails to walk, and sail boats across the Bay. Truly a wonderful stay and perfect for tranquility. Will be back. Our host is not on site yet very attentive. We had to contact him a couple of times and he was readily available within minutes. Check in easy. Check out easy. Just a great stay overall.

We stayed at the cabin for my son's 9th birthday. The cabin was a perfect for us. The views of the bay are spectacular. There is small beach within a 5 minute walk from the cabin. We had great luck finding shark teeth and other fossils there. South beach is a 5 minute drive and again we had no problem finding shark teeth. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we're already talking about a return trip. The owner is super proactive and goes above / beyond to make sure you have a great trip.
