This sandy trail winds through a sliver of the Indiana Dunes National Park (America’s 61st!) and leads to a sugar-sand beach where one can view the Chicago Skyline and breathtaking sunsets. The walk to the beach is approximately 1/6 of a mile and takes the average person about ten to 12 minutes along a mostly sand, partially paved path that winds past Historic Chanute Hill, the location of the first manned glider flight in 1896 by Octave Chanute.
