From here, you can overlook large parts of the Eastern Algarve, and although you don't really need much more than to gaze out at the sea and across the Serra all day long, Villa Celta also offers many other amenities...brbrThe living area is on the first floor of the villa, built in 2003. Three large patio doors lead outside from the semi-circular living room with a dining table, allowing plenty of light and air into the room. The open, rustic kitchen adjoins the living room. Under the granite lintel of the former ruin is a state-of-the-art stove with gas and electric burners, as well as a convection electric oven. A large refrigerator, a small dishwasher, and an unforgettable view while working in the kitchen leave nothing to be desired. The first floor also houses a small office, a guest toilet with a shower, and two covered terraces.brThree bedrooms and a large bathroom with a corner bathtub and shower are located on the ground floor. For larger groups of up to 8 people, the attic can be rented, where there is an additional bedroom, a small living room, and a shower room. These rooms are accessed via the top roof terrace, from which you can also enjoy the most amazing view.brbrAll rooms of Villa Celta are equipped with air conditioning and fly screens. For the colder seasons, there is also a fireplace in the living room. Internet access, international TV, a washing machine, a garage, an electric gate, and a brick barbecue with an outdoor sink complete the high level of comfort. Not to be forgotten is the 8 x 4.5 meter saltwater pool with a depth of up to 2.20 meters. The large dolphin shower right next to the pool also provides refreshment! The nearest supermarket is minutes away for you to stock up of food, beer and wine,brbrOverview of the areabrbrTavira is a coastal city in the eastern Algarve fondly known as the Venice of the Algarve set on the meandering River Gilao. The 18th century moorish architecture surrounds cobbled streets connected by a roman bridge and other bridges along the river. There s a hill top castle ruins with attractive walled gardens and 37 churches which admirably contribute to its seductive charm. The central gardens is a great place to have a local ice cream and watch the turtles in the centre of the gardens and is surrounded by cafes, bars and restaurants, Portugal is the third safest country in the world and Tavira is one of the safest cities in Portugal. Being here feels like taking a pleasant and relaxing step back in time. All within walking distance! brTake a five minute walk over the bridge from our apartment to board the cheap, short and regular ferry ride to the Island of Tavira (1 Euro each way or you can take private water taxi). Tavira falls within the Parque Natural da Rio Formosa and on the way to the beach you can see some wonderful birds living on the nature reserve, during April to October you can admire the pink flamingos. The island has a lovely beach with clear waters and a number of bars and restaurants where you can sample local food particularly the fish caught from the sea that day. You can have a relaxing massage on the golden sands or enjoy local water sports. From here you can cross a small bridge and take the tourist train or walk 1km to reach Barrill beach where old fishermen houses have been converted to restaurants.brLocal activities include too many to mention them all. There s Tuk tuk tours, a local tourist train around Tavira, dolphin watching, horse riding, municipal swimming pool, quad bike tours, cinemas, shops including some lovely local unique shops, a daily municipal market and a monthly market on the third Saturday of the month. You can rent a bike at the end of our street and during June to the end of September there s plenty of local festivals and events including live music all within walking distance. Nearby Cabanas Tavira and Santa Luzia are easily accessible by car or public transport or take the lovely train journey to the Spanish town of Aya Monte, just over the border about 20 km from here. brBeing the Algarve there s plenty of golf in surrounding area s.
