If you prefer not to take the staircase, choose the path that leads around the side of the house, over the covered loggia and into the kitchen.brbrGROUND FLOORbrA lovely country kitchen is a cook's dream, fully equipped and also including a counter height cooking fireplace as well as gas burner stove top and oven. You arrive at the gate, and enter onto a long driveway. The parking area is just 20 meters from the front of the house, surrounded by trees and shrubbery so as not to ruin the view from the front of the house. Take the path either to the front of the house or continue on the path to the backyard and large outdoor living space. The large loggia has seating, and off of the loggia is a large dining table that can accommodate 10 people comfortably. Large expanses of lawns lead to the swimming pool 80 meters from the house and surrounded by olive groves and rose bushes. From the house and pool, the lawns continue out on to incredible vistas of the Val di Chiana on the east, Mount Cetona on the west and Lago Trasimeno to the north. The rest of the property is bordered by trees and woods on both sides. The gardens have a built in barbeque and a bocci court with lights for those playing late into the night.

In the evening, you can enjoy the view and be treated to the intoxicating scent of lavender and rosemary as you sip a glass of wine or prosecco.brbrDown a short set of hand carved wooden steps lined with lavender and rosemary on both sides that seem like they have been there for centuries, lies a gorgeous private swimming pool completely surrounded by olive trees and a private vineyard. The view of the countryside from here is extraordinary. And when you tire of hanging around the house (if that is ever possible), you can head out for day trips to places like Florence, Rome, Siena, Assisi, Cortona, Orvieto, Perugia, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Chianti all within an hour's drive from the villa. Or if you prefer, the fast train between Rome and Florence stops in Chiusi just 15 minutes from the villa. There is free parking nearby and you can travel comfortably to Rome, Florence, Siena or cities farther afield. The property owners are an engineer and a journalist. The property was restructured by two highly respected Roman architects, who painstakingly completed a restoration (in 2009) of this beautiful & unique town-home in the medieval Tuscan hillside town of Cetona (ca 900 AD). The blend of location (in fabulous southern Tuscany and in a city also chosen by the Italian designer Valentino for his country villa) and style (a rare and exceedingly tasteful blend of ancient and modern) make this a perfect retreat for the discerning traveler. The house is centrally located near Cetona’s main piazza, with its shops, stores, cafes and restaurants all within easy walking distance. The living room, dining room, bathroom and kitchen (fully equipped) are located on the ground floor. Also on the ground floor you will find a portion of the renovated tunnel that burrows through the Cetona hillside. During the renovation, the architects decided to wall off their portion of the tunnel for future use as a large wine cellar (see pictures). On the second floor you will find the master bedroom with a canopy bed, a full private bath with a modern bathtub carved into the rock, and an additional bedroom with two beds (all new mattresses, furniture and appliances throughout the home).
