We have incredible bank fishing on our 131 feet of river access for a handful of different salmon species (Sockeye, King, Silver, and Pink), Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden. Our private fishing platforms are a short walk from both cabins. You can also put on your river boots and waders and step right into the river for that reel Alaskan experience.brbr-THE EAGLES NEST-brOur brand new Eagles Nest is a cozy retreat that overlooks the property with views of the Kenai River. The apartment above the garage comfortably sleeps four guests. There are 2 private bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed and one with 2 Twin XLs); a full bath; and a kitchen and living area with views of the river. There is also a washer and dryer. Our Home on the Kenai is a very unique home and property. It is situated right on the Kenai River with very sturdy steel/aluminum stairs going down to the shore with a private steel/aluminum dock at one of the great fishing holes on the Kenai River. The home was built in 2005 and is in fantastic condition. The home was built in 2005 and has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. A large kitchen with bar and a dining area. A comfortable sitting/tv room and a very large and spacious deck with outdoor furniture and barbecue/grill. The property is 2 1/2 acres with a winding driveway back to the home so you have a very private setting. The home is situated approximately 50 or so feet above the river so there is no risk of flooding at highwater. There are lots of pine trees and plenty of parking out front. The home is well furnished with a nice deck off of the master bedroom. The master bedroom has both a shower and a stand alone tub. You are well outside of the city lights so you will have spectacular night skies. This home is also situated on the Funny River side of the Kenai so it is not so busy. It is just across the river from the town of Sterling and just below the Moose River confluence.brOnce you have made a reservation with a deposit you will receive a rental agreement. Each year there are two runs each of king salmon, coho salmon, sockeye salmon, plus a run of pink salmon every other year. The world record king salmon, which weighed about 44 kg (97 lb), was caught in the Kenai River in 1985. The Kenai is also the home of trophy size rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Occasionally there will be reports of catching of Steelhead(Sea-run Trout). In recent years, the king salmon fishery has been closed or heavily restricted due to low returns of fish. The coho salmon runs occur in early August and early October. The September run is favored by local anglers due to the larger size of the silver salmon. The sockeye salmon runs are in late-June and mid-July-August. Sockeyes are considered the premier salmon for eating, canning, and smoking.brbrThe Space:brDakota House can sleep up to four people with 1 loft queen bed (ladder access) and 1 queen sofa bed in living room. There is also a convenient viewing platform to sit and watch the river run by. Whatever the season, the fish gather in the eddy right off the banks of our property that is well-known as a rainbow trout and silver fishing hole.
