The Neighborhood:

TREASURE ISLAND:

The 979 Crew just loves this seaside and bayside community flanked by Galveston Island on one end and Surfside Beach on the other. On your drive, stop by the grocery store for your favorite grillables and beverages, make a pit stop at the bait shop to fill your bait bucket (great fishing in TI), and/or place a call to make arrangements to rent a golf cart - this is a very golf cart friendly spot. Enjoy the Gulfside's uncrowded pedestrian beach (no cars allowed for 300 yards but golf carts welcomed) where you can setup your group's camp for the day on the beach to build sandcastles, jump in the surf, find unique shells and sand dollars, boogie board, shore & surf fish and build an evening bonfire. Or if preferred, utilize the available launch for your boat or kayak or head to the fishing pier on the bayside. Some much to do so little time!

Getting Around:

SAN LUIS PASS:

San Luis Pass and Treasure Island have been known all over the United States for being a saltwater fishing hotspot and the most amazing sunrises & sunsets! It is 15 minutes from Surfside and across the bridge from Galveston's west end and only about 25-30 minutes to the heart of Galveston Island's activities. Most people come to the area to spend quality 'non-commercialized time with family, extended family, and friends!

Other Things to Note:

The 979 Crew is comprised of island locals who are passionate about making sure the home you chose is nothing short of clean, comfortable, and ready for your group's fun! Every home is fully and professionally cleaned after each guest stay. In addition, all of our homes feature luxury hotel-quality/high thread count on all sheets, bedding, and bath towels which are replaced upon every turnover including the duvet covers and shams (we've heard not every company does this, and we think that's just gross). We take clean seriously! When you rent a 979 home, you'll also receive the 'comforts of home' guest welcome starter supply of shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, tp and paper towels, dishwasher and clothes washer pods. We want your stay to be as easy as you do, and the 979 Crew aims to deliver on that commitment. We love our island guests!

While we will do everything we can to ensure these items are in good working order before your arrival, please note, these services may not be as consistent as they are in your area. Location and view couldn't get much better. Nice basic oceanfront property with a short walk to the beach. Property has a few issues that the owner needs to let the management company correct. No traps on several drains leads to sewer gas / smell issue. We took care of most it by leaving a wet towel with a pan of water over the shower drain and making sure the dishwasher was closed.Refrigerator was basically non-functioning on our arrival and the management company did their best to take care of that promptly. Lowe's appliance delivery didn't do them any favors and we were without a fridge for aboout half our stay. The management company made this right with us. They were very good to work with. We would consider staying here again and certainly at any property that 979 Vacations manages.

We had a wonderful stay! The home was quaint, cozy, and perfectly located—just a short walk to the beach with stunning water views. While the refrigerator wasn’t working during our visit, the deep freezer was a great backup and helped us preserve our food. Everything else was lovely, and we truly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and convenient location. Would definitely recommend!

The view. The view you get makes it all worth it. The house smelled terrible, I unplugged the scent plugs and oh did the smell get worse! Then my son found a cockroach! YES. An actual giant roach! Then we were looking in the fridge as it wasn't working properly, and found cockroach fecal matter in and around the water filter!!!! I reported it and they moved us next door but that house had a different kind of bugs. The property manager said it was normal to find these love bugs in the house and in the beds!!! When we requested compensation for this they said they would reach out later and never did!! 10 out of 10 DO NOT recommend! We are glad to be home!

We loved the view from this home. The home was very clean. And it worked well for our family of four to stay for 5 nights. It needs some updating and some maintenance. Many cabinets and drawers throughout the home are broken or cracked. The HVAC system appears to have some issues as it doesn’t do much of anything to take humidity out of the home. It was very warm at night making it difficult to rest well. We have stayed at many properties in this same neighborhood and never had a home that the dehumidifier had to be emptied several times a day. The refrigerator never got very cold even after staying a few days. The fridge freezer does not work. We had melted ice cream to prove that. They do have a small deep freeze so we utilized that the rest of our stay. Also, the home smells like septic quite often. My husband said he doesn’t believe the traps are working right as a foul gassy odor came back up through the pipes after a few hours of not being used. The microwave does not work. Or the wiring isn’t adequate to run it. When used it pulled the power down to the whole house. Truthfully, it is an older home and it just needs some good TLC. We had a great week overall. But hope improvements are made before the next guests stay.

Nice clean home with comfy king size master bed. You are literally on the ocean and sitting on the deck is a great way to spend your day.

We had some issues, and the property company took care of us and moved us into another property so we could enjoy our beach getaway trip.

The A/C does not work properly. Checked in at 4pm turned thermostat down, by 9 pm it was still a 78*. Contacted property manger and to their credit they did send out a repair man. He somewhat patched it back together to get us through the next few days. It was bearable but not pleasant. There is a de-humidifier in the living room that had to be emptied every 4 hours or it would go in to auto shut down. There was condensation leaking out of the supply air vents onto the kitchen table. In short the whole A/C needs to be replaced. There are also electrical issues plugs and lights out in various rooms. Check the breakers, no trips. No switch covers / exposed wires on exterior. A 4x4 pickup will not fit under the house. This is an older property so the piers are not as high as other houses. Not the property managers issue however it should be noted on description. We only had my truck, I was able to parallel park in the drive way. The place needs to be sprayed for roaches. Lastly not exactly sure what was going on at the permanent residents two houses down. Very shady activity.

Stayed over the memorial day weekend + a few days. We found the location to be perfect in that it was close enough if you wanted to venture out yet still not overcrowded. Even on the holiday weekend, the short walk to the beach was pleasant and the beach was not chaotic busy. The property was very comfortable for three full time adults and a couple visitor's. Lounging on the deck watching the tides was rejuvenating. Thanks for having us.

Overall, it was great! The house felt a bit older to me than the pictures depicted, but that is expected with a house so close to the water. The AC did not work as well as we had hoped, so it felt like the sheets were wet all night. I felt very safe in that neighborhood. The food trucks across the highway were absolutely amazing!! I would definitely stay there again. If you are afraid of large crashing waves coming close to the house, then stay somewhere else LOL
