Trader Scott's is a beautifully decorated home on the spectacular south shore of Crystal Lake! Outside, it features a huge dock, mooring buoy for boats, a family-friendly bonfire ring right on the private beach, a huge deck with a gorgeous lakeview, and lots of outdoor furniture for dining and relaxing. Inside, the home is gorgeous with lots of color, windows, and great natural lighting along with a huge kitchen, washer & dryer, and all amenities!


NEIGHBORHOOD:

The house is along the luxurious south shore of Crystal Lake, which boasts many luxurious homes of over $1M in value. The neighborhood is primarily made up of vacation homes of professional families.

Outside of the immediate neighborhood, the home is just a few miles from downtown Frankfort, which has a charming collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, and a microbrewery (Stormcloud). Frankfort also has a fantastic public beach on Lake Michigan and a popular historic lighthouse. The Bright and Breezy is also less than a 30-minute drive from both the start of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (to the north) as well as Crystal Mountain Ski Resort (to the southeast).

The house is also only about a 1-hour drive east to Traverse City. Traverse City is the business, arts, recreation, entertainment, dining, and shopping hub of all of Northern Michigan and it provides a vast variety of bigger city things to see and do.


GUEST ACCESS:

Guests have access to the entire house, except for the furnace room which is locked off for storage.


THE SPACE:

It is important to understand the layout of the house. The house is a bit of a treehouse in that the main shared living space in terms of the living room, dining room, and the kitchen ARE ALL LOCATED ON THE SECOND FLOOR. Thus, the home may not work well for everybody.

Another important aspect of the layout is that the two downstairs bedrooms and the downstairs bathroom are somewhat separated from the rest of the house. This works great for providing teenagers, a second couple, or extra relatives with their own private space.


TRANSIT:

It is recommended that guests have their own vehicle.


PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

1) ROAD: South Shore Drive runs between the house and the lake. This might be an issue for families with small children. (Note that the speed limit on South Shore Drive is only 25 MPH though and there is little traffic on the road since the road basically only services houses that are directly on the lake.)

2) HANGING CANOE: Please note that the canoe that is hanging on the wall in the garage is not available for guest usage. It is for decoration only.

3) FIREPLACES: Please note that the 2 indoor fireplaces are NOT available for guest usage.

4) PET POLICY: All pets are strictly prohibited at this property.

5) AIR CONDITIONING: Please note that the property does NOT have air conditioning. As such, it may get warm in the house during the summer if it is warm outside.

6) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.

7) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not.

8) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. As such, late check-outs are strictly prohibited.

    We had a wonderful time at Trader Scott’s!! The cottage is beautiful and the set up is perfect when you have family that can stay downstairs while not disturbing them if we are still awake upstairs! Jean was a huge help with any request that I had and a pleasure to deal with. I love this cottage and we really hope to keep renting it every year!!

    Fantastic lake getaway! Beautiful spot on Crystal Lake. Everything you could want with great views of the lake, dock access, quick access into town. Clean. Great management team. Hope to be back soon.!

    Just an ideal location on Crystal Lake, with plenty of frontage and water to play in. Amazing views from the deck and inside the house. The cottage had everything we needed for a great stay, including chairs, tubes, towels, games, and even a desk to get some work done. Depending on the size of your group, the two bedrooms and bathroom downstairs may not be ideal (needs some upgrading too).

    Thank you for allowing our family to enjoy this slice of heaven! We have been wanting to stay on Crystal Lake for several years and the wait was well worth it. Everything was perfect! The house is well maintained and situated in a great location on the lake. There are many activities to do in the area and Frankfort is a very nice little town. Hope to be back again next year!
