Stayed Aug 10, 2024We had an amazing time at this beautiful house and location. We did had few issues though, the screen of the sliding door kept falling, the dishwasher and laundry machine didn't work most of the time we were there and when we wanted to grill and already bought some meat to cook we found out that the 1 gas tank is empty. Otherwise everything was great. Thank you so much!

Stayed Jul 27, 2024We enjoyed our stay at the Holliday House! It is very secluded - steep roads and 20 minutes from town. It wasn't convenient to 'run to town' if we needed something. The surroundings are relaxing and peaceful. We spent a lot of time on the deck listening to the creek. The house was as pictured. Plenty of room for our family of 5. The kitchen had the bare minimum for cooking. We were able to make do for the meals we prepared. Having the grill to use was a bonus! Some of our favorite things in the area were driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, short hike to SoCo Falls, exploring/shopping in Sylva and Waynesville. Stop at the Jackson County visitor center for lots of great information. The adventurous ones of our group did the hike to Pinnacle Peak - strenuous, but worth it! We tried the sunset hike to Waterrock Knob. Unfortunately it was foggy/cloudy at that altitude- still a great experience. Our restaurant recommendations would be Balsam Falls Brewing Co and Mad Batter Kitchen in Sylva. The Twisted Spoke in Maggie Valley was excellent, as well. Communication with Sundog Vacation Rentals was great. They were very responsive to our messages both before and during our stay. We've already discussed coming back to this same house again!

Stayed Jun 28, 2024Overall our stay was good. Had a few issues that were taken care of quickly. Few things that are advertised were not available like the waffle maker but we made other arrangements to accommodate that. We would definitely rent this cabin again

Stayed Jun 9, 2024The Holliday House was exactly what we expected and more! The property is so beautiful. The views are breathtaking, and the house is like a dream. The hosts really set you up with everything you could need and the quaint little touches throughout made this one of our favorite stays to date. We can't say enough good things about the property and it was a wonderful vacation home for our family. Between meals on the multilevel decks and hanging out in the hammock room while enjoying the view from the picture window, I think anyone staying here would feel comfortable and fully emersed in the mountain scape. 10 out of 10.

Stayed May 31, 2024My family had a great week in Sylva. The house had everything we needed. The outside amenities needed a little attention, but considering how far up the mountain it was that's not surprising. All things considered I would stay at the Holliday House again.

Stayed Nov 18, 2023We had an absolutely delightful week. It was everything I had hoped from my first try at a VRBO vacation. The location was spectacular - views of the mountains & woods out of every window. The accommodations were very spacious & comfortable. There were five of us - with the mother-in-law suite as a quiet retreat we had plenty of room. The weather was chilly enough that we didn't spend much time outside, but I made a point of stepping out on the deck every night before retiring - the peace & quiet, with just the sound of the creek below & stunning views of the stars overhead was perfect. The location gave us access to both Asheville & the Smokies, but frankly I would have been content to not venture anywhere, it was so nice where we were. As advertised, supplies & kitchen furnishings were adequate for a weekend stay. I might advise anyone intending a longer stint, as we did, to plan on bringing more of their own tools (baking/cooking pots & pans, casseroles, measuring etc) - but the basics were certainly covered. Access was a bit tricky - narrow, winding & steep mountain road, but the driving instructions were spot-on to get us there, & though I was glad we had front-wheel drive, as promised we were ok w/out 4-wheel drive. We may have been pushing it this late in the season - I don't think I would want to try the steep parts if the roads were snowy, icy or slick. But having been there once, I would go for it again - so worth it! And rental staff super helpful & responsive!

Stayed Jun 30, 2023We loved the house, the mother in law quarters were perfect for my brother who turned 80 years old during this trip. He had privacy, but also close to mingle with us when he wanted. Teen granddaughter and 8 year old sister loved the twin room with their own bath. Our small dogs loved the big yard. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Love this place. It's a cozy cottage nestled in the woods. Nothing but trees, mountain views and the sound of rushing water. We hiked from the house to both the Pinnacle trail and Black rock. 30 min drive to some of the best white water rafting in NC. Not our first time staying here and won't be our last.
