Built in 1841 and central to the historic district, the 'Hamilton House' is named in honor of Lancaster's founding father, James Hamilton. This end-unit row home gives travelers a glimpse into the past, while ensuring the modern amenities of today are included. Smart TV's, high speed internet, central AC and off-street parking make the home a perfect remote work space, while high-quality linens, tasteful furnishings, and a fully equipped kitchen will have you calling the Hamilton House home.<br>The ‘Hamilton House’ is a spacious, downtown row home in one of Lancaster's most historic neighborhoods which was known for the lucrative tobacco production industry. The space hints to a past when things were simpler while highlighting the creature comforts one demands of today's modern spaces. The family room is open and bright, and the gourmet kitchen is spacious and inviting. The living spaces are spacious and the upper loft area are both inviting and include high quality mattresses and linens to ensure a peaceful night's rest. The home is equipped with a smart TV and Xfinity high speed internet to provide travelers the assurance of staying connected. The outdoor area is large and includes an outdoor patio and gas grill perfect for entertaining. The home is filled with afternoon light throughout and offers enough space for twelve guests to enjoy comfortably. The home is professionally cleaned and cared for, and our team is readily available to ensure your stay is the absolute very best.
The home is easily accessed by parking in the rear of the home located directly behind Shippen St. (See check-in link). There is ample room for four cars to park in tandem directly behind the other. Once parked, enter through the wooden fenced gate, and follow the path to the first door of the rear of the home. All areas of the home are secure and have outdoor security cameras. The laundry room is accessed by the lower basement door directly across from the rear entry door.
The Musser Park neighborhood is on Lancaster's East side, and is a short walk to parks, area restaurants and downtown entertainment. The park, commissioned in 1949, was named after Lancaster’s umbrella handle tycoon Henry Musser. The park is a local favorite that includes plenty of open space, a children’s play area and the Lancaster Museum of Art. The location is highly walkable to Lancaster’s central market, the convention center, and most downtown area shops and restaurants.
The 'HamiltonHouse' has a walk-score of 98, so for those who love walking - Lancaster is a foot warriors dream! In addition, Lancaster has a network of bike paths with mindful motorists and clearly marked bike lanes throughout the city. The city is inter-connected by rivers, parks, and side alleyways that are sure to leave a lasting impression. For those looking to travel by car, you’ll appreciate the lack of traffic often found in larger metropolitan cities. If you take a car, be mindful of our local horse carriages and buggies often found traveling throughout our community and back-country roads.

The home is 420/smoker friendly, but in outside areas only, at least ten feet away from windows and doors.

Upon arriving after midnight on a 7 day work trip, unloading all my bags into the home, found the thermostat locked out at 70%. It had been raining all day and it was hot and humid inside. Afterhours calls, texts, and emails were not responded to. Had to 'jail break' the ac thermostat to lower it to 67 to even activate and remove some of the humidity. Was contacted late afternoon the next day by Vincent who didn't seem to care, also the shower would not work or turn on so had to take baths the first 4 days there. Was told the maintenance guy would come, but returned home and still didnt work. had to PROVE the shower didnt work with a video before being told you have to basically yank out the handle to engage the valve. All comms were thru text, call, and 1 email yet to communicate to me that a maint man had been there, Vincent sent a msg to the VRBO app, that I dont have, bc this was booked through my business. They provided 2 bath towels for a 7 day stay, 1 roll of toilet paper, and no access to adjust the ac thermostat. Their idea of a laundry room was a chain locked (with key) basement that was a shared space with an unknown person. Could not access it bc no key was provided and there was little to no lighting outside this cellar area & No front door light. I WOULD NEVER recommend this property or management company to anyone ever. Steer clear if you want to take showers here or feel cool to arrive or sleep at night. Absolutely miserable experience - do NOT recommend!!!
