Stayed Jan 16, 2024This cabin is surrounded by green lush forest, with tall trees, deep shade and rich animal and bird life. In January to February it was very humid andthe sun doesn't penetrate much to the cabine, so it cooler than when you get out onto the street. The location is excellent, rifht off the main road and a smooth drive to everything you may need: beach access points, shopping and restos in the nearby Puerto Viejo, a charming town. The cabin is rustic, open and very basic. There is seating available outside only, adequate for two and a small table with two chairs for eating. Kitchen has basic supplies, you might want to bring your own bigger mug or two. The bathroom has a very small sink, it is hard to wash hands or brush teeth. The shower and toilet worked well during our stay. The sleeping beds (2) are located inside, one sleeps two and a onother one. I wish there was some seating area inside as well as screens on cabin windows so one can open them. The cabin is very private and we felt very comfortable and safe during the entire stay. The cleaner did a great job and fulfilled our suggestions. The comms with the property manager was awesome, they responded within minutes to all our texts. We recommend this cabin to a couple who has a car and likes privacy and shade.

Stayed Jun 13, 2021Anne and I came here via Caribe Shuttle ($55@). Excellent. A bit worried since we were arriving after dark. But zero problems, someone drove up on his scooter and checked us in. Smooth. Definitely download and use the ap WhatsApp. Everyone in CR uses this for texting. Great communicator between all of us. The house is very well built, immaculately cleaned. Kitchen not only has everything you need, they're all new or spotless utensils. Sove is propane. Easy to start, easy to clean. Updated fridge and stove top. Very impressed. Bathroom is small, but hot soaking shower. Impressed. Bedroom is large enough to open up several suitcases, and opens up to the outdoor porch area and kitchen. Nice breeze. There is a large portable oscillating fan. Whew! Lifesaver! Just move it to and from the porch and bedroom. Stayed comfortable 24/7. Please be aware that this a second floor apartment, and only storage below. The caretaker is next door, but the jungle is so thick you can't here them, and barely see their light. So you're out alone, by yourself. Cool. It's about a 50 meter walk from the road to the house. Very rocky, but no mud. Very dark. Excellent. The property is an easy walk to Manzanillo. Walk in the opposite direction to Punta Uva or the green macaw sanctuary/feeding. Taxi to Porta Viejo is around 20k colones r/t. Cheap. You'll be awoken to wonderful sounds of monkeys, tucans, and endless insects. Walk thru Manzanillo to enter the national park. Best beaches. Walk deeper into the jungle (with guide Omar, to be safe the first time, A+) and find an empty cove. But be careful. Anne walked right past a fer-de-lance coiled up on the path. Still have nightmares about how quickly ones perfect vacation can go horrible in a few seconds. But don't fear the jungle, respect it. I'd stay here again. Period. But we'd take up our caretakers offer of drying our clothes. Wear synthetic or wool only. Keep your cottons at home. Don't bring jeans unless you can machine dry them, otherwise you'll be packing wet jeans. Manzanillo locals are the nicest anywhere in the world. They love their country, they love their families. Manzanillo is the anti-thesis to our busy, loud, anxious, only-me attitude, materialistic lives we live here the states. Didn't want to leave. This house was a great place to spend my 60th bd with my partner and soulmate. Excellent.

Stayed Mar 14, 2019This is a fantastic and unique (for me at least) property. Sitting in the rainforest/jungle, it is close enough to Puerto Viejo and neighbors to not feel too isolated, but also still very much with an off-the grid feel. I woke to a howler monkey swinging high above, and toucans dropping seeds on the tin roof. This was a short, 1.5-day stay, but I was still able to pack in a lot with the cacao tour at Caribeans, night hike through Jaguar Rescue Center, and beach time (all within short driving distance). Though not a knock on the property at all, it may be worth noting that the drive from San Jose took longer than Google Maps predicted and had a lot of large trucks (which I was told is normal). Still, all in all, worth the drive (especially if you’re staying longer).

Stayed Feb 3, 2019Tranquila is exactly as described. It was clean and comfortable and in the middle of a jungle...a few critters were expected! The pictures don’t do it justice. It is like living in a tree house. Waking to the howler monkeys was so fun. Bird watching and listening to the rain on the roof was a treat. The location is far enough away to feel remote although close to towns and beaches.
