The property was absolutely perfect. The fenced in yard for the dogs was secure. They enjoyed being off leash and we did not have to worry. The yurt was so cozy and well equipped with everything we needed. Didn't want to leave and ready to go back!
This yurt was super cute, quite, and the property manager was super cool
This was my first time staying in a yurt and in the area of meadows of Dan. The property was great, the owners are very helpful and nice. Everything you need to glamp and its nestled beautifully off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We had a wonderful time at the Yurt. Julia was an amazing host and she answered all of my weird questions even before we arrived. The only complaint I would have is the construction coming up the mountain from Stuart. The yurt is well kept and well stocked with everything! Nice, Quaint little town with cute shops near by. The gas station is bigger than it looks and stocks EVERYTHING (meats, veggies, snacks, everything!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Although, we did not get to enjoy the firepit....it rained quite a bit while we were there.
We love using vrbo type rentals when we travel. We have stayed in some nice places but Julia's yurt surpasses every places we've stayed. It is spacious, clean, well decorated, has everything you could possibly need. There are frosted mugs in the freezer, a sound machine in the bedroom, the softest towels and sheets. The wrap around deck and fully fenced in property for our dogs was beyond incredible. Waking up with a nice cup of coffee, having the dogs out and watching the sunrise was a highlight of our stay. Julia was also extremely friendly and helpful. She responded quickly and gave great local recommendations. We cannot say enough about this rental. We are already planning our trip back for next year. Do not hesitate on this one. We honestly did not want to leave. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.
Enjoyed our stay; especially the fact that we could bring our 4 legged baby! Well equipped, accessible, and next local restaurants and stores.
I was giddy immediatey upon arrival. The yurt, bult completely by the host/hostess, surpassed what I had imagined even from online descriptions. Tucked away in the hills and surrounded by trees in all directions, it is a place of absolute serenity. Inside the yurt you'll experience near 360 views from windows and doors to the outside. Inside is cozy with gorgeous modern kitchen and bathroom. A fenced in yard allowed space for my pup to run around and enjoy the outdoors along with me, which you will want to take advantage of by sitting on the deck and soaking it all in (the fire pit, too!). The hosts Julia and Harry are nothing short of wonderful; attentive, helpful, quick to respond, accomodating, generous, and so very kind. The appreciation I have for my entire experience is beyond words. Have decided this to be an annual getaway. Check out Mabry Mill (10 minute drive), and Chateau Morisette Winery (20 minutes). Close to downtown Floyd. Minutes to Blue Ridge Parkway. And quaint shops, grocery, gifts, coffee, etc around the corner right in Meadows of Dan. Cannot recommend this rental, or this area enough. Five stars are not enough. Book and enjoy!!!
The Yurt is located in a very quiet and relaxing location. The host Julia has thought of everything down to the frosted mugs, which was used a lot on this stay. Julia also makes sure to communicate everything you need to know about your trip. This trip was for my wife and I to just get away and relax and turn cell phones off. The Yurt has a fenced in yard for your pets. M. Walters
I was looking for a glamping getaway for a golden birthday celebration when I came across the Mountain Waves Yurt. I was connected to the owner thru VRBO; I was anxious pets are not allowed, but to my delight, we can take our grand dog Kira with us. We took the long drive, and were just awed when we arrived by the beauty of the place. It's like staying in a luxurious hotel in the middle of the forest. Julia and her husband are great hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed and took time to prepare stuff to accommodate our dog. The place is spacious and spotlessly clean, and the outside lawn is well-manicured and tended. There is a firepit outside but we opted to sit on the porch with a glass of wine while Kira played in the enclosed yard on our first night. The stores nearby sells locally made products, I loved going to the Farmer's market, the food is delicious and very affordable. The yurt has a fully equiped kitchen, so we made some dinner on our last night. Our stay was very short, but we enjoyed every minute of it. What topped the experience was on our last day, we were awoken by the sound of raindrops on the roof of the Yurt. If you are looking for some solitude and a relaxing destination, I highly recommend this place. Ps ...as a dog owner, reading Julia's book, Mostly Bob, is profoundly touching.
We booked this wonderful yurt to get away and decompress. What a perfect place to do just that! The decor is lovely and so comfortable and inviting. We made good use of the well appointed kitchen and found it a delight to work in. We brought our 11 month old lab puppy, Sadie because the listing stated that there was a fenced in yard. It was amazing! Our pup loved the room to explore while we relaxed in the awesome Adirondack chairs with a glass of wine enjoying a cozy fire in the fire pit. There was a big storm that came through on our last night. The yurt was comfy and cozy. The hosts reminded us not to worry if we lost power, the yurt has a backup generator!! The home is surrounded by trees and even though the hosts are nearby if we needed anything , we really had the lovely grounds to ourselves. The little town of Meadows of Dan is delightful and just minutes away for you to explore Primative Coffee house, Concord General Store, Nancy’s Candy. They have two gas stations, one with a deli (that has ice cream) and little grocery store in case you have forgotten something. We will return soon! The hosts are wonderful and have thought of everything you might need to make your stay amazing! This is now out favorite getaway mountain retreat! Highly recommend!!
This is not your typical yurt- it is a modern, open, gorgeous, spacious place that seems as well suited to Napa Valley as it is to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains! I planned a mother-daughter trip, along with my dog wanting to have a relaxing getaway where I could bring the pup, as well as, let my 85-year-old mother get around comfortably. This place could not have been more perfect! Everything was easy for my mom with her walker to navigate and my dog had a huge fenced yard where he could play. Owner, Julia, was incredibly responsive to my questions, and I felt very comfortable even before arrival. I was able to get in with her lock instructions, and while I knew she was available, I also appreciated the privacy we were accorded. The yurt had every convenience I could have hoped for and even more! There is a wonderful fire pit with gorgeous hand-crafted Adirondack chairs surrounding it, and the skylight in the yurt allowed us to see the night stars from the comfort of the living room if we chose. The queen-size bed was very comfortable, and the bath towels were high-quality. But the icing on the cake, for me, was the spacious kitchen/ living room! I love to cook, and I really appreciated the stainless-steel appliances with a helpful kitchen island. It was a great space for me to practice my love of cooking, while chatting with my mom who could relax on the cozy couch nearby. And while we could’ve stayed at the yurt the entirety of our trip, Julia gave us some fun suggestions and we made the two right turns at the stop signs to experience the adorable town, Meadows of Dan, and some of the Blue Ridge Parkway sights- the historic Mabry Mill, Rocky Knob for great views, and Villa Appalaccia winery. My mom and I had a wonderful time, and we’re definitely returning to the Yurt next time!
