Private Beach House with amazing views of Shwan Lake and Twin Lakes Beach

We live in Santa Cruz and had to find a place to stay while our house was having work done. This place was quiet and peaceful. I loved getting up early and watching all of the birds. I even saw an eagle one morning. At night you could hear the waves crashing. The house is comfortable but not fancy and the bathroom is small. It was great for our needs.

James’ place was great. The location is terrific and the house was clean with all key amenities. Good location to a couple of fun spots in the area and not too far from San Jose where we traveled into a bit. He was easy to communicate with and didn’t have any issues. Would recommend.

The location is great . The house was clean. It had everything you needed except a bbq.

Great location and neighborhood. Able to walk to the beach. Decor and furniture could use some updating though, felt like staying at a family’s house more so than a fancy rental, but not really in a bad way? Host was really great! Nice guy, nice neighbors, I’d stay again.

Fantastic location. Very comfy beds, great kitchen, tons of space for the 3 of us. Laundry fantastic. Jim was super helpful. View is lovely.

The house was very clean and perfect for my adult son, his dog and me(Mom)! Super quiet neighborhood and lovely short walk to a terrific beach!Got to meet Jim, the owner, who is very easy. A wonderful few days!!

Great location and wonderful view of an inlet and ocean. Nice to have parking too. Definitely adequate for two people. Bathroom is small but ok. Room with the king size bed also had a futon in it which caused it to be a bit tight but usable. Overall we liked it and would stay again.

Most excellent location on lovely lagoon just a minute's walk to Twin Lakes Beach. Nice outdoor sitting places. Comfortable home and very pleasant host.

Loved our stay at Jim's place. This was just the perfect place for. View of the lagoon and the wildlife, very close to the beach, and the harbor. Jim was an awesome host. Check-in was very easy, and all communication with Jim was timely. Will definitely stay here again.

We really lived this property. It was clean and spacious. Plenty of room for 2-3 people. A very short walk to the beach and downtown Santa Cruz and Capitola were just a few minutes away. The view of the lake was great and it was so relaxing watching the birds outside the windows. There must have been at least 8 nests in the tree just outside the window.

Jim's place is very clean, quiet and comfortable. The location is delightful for the beach and neighborhood walks. It felt very private, but Jim was responsive if we had any questions. Very relaxing stay!

Very happy with accommodations. Only negative was mattress in river-facing room—super lumpy and worn. Otherwise, GREAT property and good winter pricing. Would stay again.

Great location in Santa Cruz and the house had a great layout and was very comfortable. Great view of the water and numerous birds. 3 min walk to the beach. 10 min drive to shopping areas. 30 min to redwoods and an hour to Monterey. When we come back to the area, we will be staying here again.

James's place is in such a great location, just a short walk to the beach. I really enjoyed the kitchen...i love to cook and it had everything I needed, including sharp (a rarity at most VRBO's)!

House is clean and nicely stocked the views to the lagoon provide lots of entertainment for bird watchers nice quite location. Would recommend

House smells bad: constant smoke (pot?) and mustiness. Dirty pillows, refrigerator , coffee pot, and whole environment was unkempt and old, worn. No kitchen staples that can be used safely. Fall risks: rugs and shower. No place to hang towels. Very quiet and beautiful view.

The best part of our day was the location of the property, which was right on a slough (like a pond), And we had a wonderful time watching all the cormorants and pelicans and other birds on the water. The place is super close to the beach, harbor, restaurants, and a very peaceful and friendly neighborhood. The bedrooms were super comfy, the kitchen was spacious and clean, the bathroom was small, but also clean with good water pressure:)
