Everything was good. The house was clean, all outdated, mattresses and pillows are not comfortable . it was nice having a breakfast facing the lake. The backyard is nice kids had fun on the hammock and the swing. The outside sitting is nice and we had fun doing a bon fire outside. I put 2 stars for the accuracy of listing because the house was not private, it is a sharable house . the owner is on the other part of the house that he enclosed it . And it is not ok to have a locked door from his side that has access to our side from inside the house. Overall was good

I loved that each of my four children had their own bed and I had my own room in this very safe and quiet retreat on Pickeral Lake. Feels like hanging out during summer vacay at The Lake Cottage up north.

Frank is an incredible guy and was there for everything we needed. This is a super cozy place with lots of outdoor space to enjoy “pure” Michigan.

Upon arrival we found out this was not a private rental as listed. The owner occupies the other half of the home. The picture of the home mislead us to believe we would have the entire home. Although the owner was friendly it felt like we were being watched. The listing said that household supplies were provided. And they were but not adequately, we had to buy more of several items. The listing also describes the shower as private. I would not call it private. There is no door that separates the shower from the bedroom. We found a security camera inside one of the bedrooms. We couldn't tell if it had a microphone or not luckly it was facing outside. There wasn't anything in the listing about having a camera. This is a nonsmoking listing but we smelled smoke everday. I believe it was coming from the owners half. Through an adjoining door. Ultimately disappointed it wasn't disclosed it was an owner occupies rental.

We stayed at Frank’s place the week of July 4th with our adult kids and grandkids. Loved the space outdoors with the big tree swing, large porch, fire pit and bball court. Frank was a kind and responsive host and easy to talk to. The indoor space is separated from but part of Frank’s house. We cooked most dinners at the house and kitchen was well equipped with nice table for family meals. The bedrooms and bath and shower are all upstairs with several beds in the first room along with the private bathroom; then you walk through to the master bedroom where the shower is in the bedroom. This worked ok for our week at the lake. Just a different setup. We enjoyed using the kayaks and canoe as you can’t swim or fish at the shore/dock. Was nice to have this option. The location is great - not far from several small towns with great shops and restaurants and larger grocery stores and access to the Muskegon River; Less than an hour drive to Lake Michigan beaches. Their were LOTS of fireworks around the lake to celebrate the holiday, including our hosts own fireworks show!

This was my first time staying on a property with the owner on the property and it worked out great. Frank was accommodating, checked in to see if we needed anything, and was friendly and easy to talk to. I noticed several things he did to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable which were greatly appreciated. The sleeping arrangements don't allow for a lot of privacy but I think it would be ideal for a family with younger children. Overall it was a great stay! Thanks for everything!

The property was clean and had all of the essentials necessary for a great stay. The outdoor area/yard is amazing. There is so much room to do all of the fun activities that kids, teens and adults enjoy. We played badminton (we brought our own net and rackets), there is a basketball court which our preschool aged kids rode their bikes on for hours, firepit for roasting marshmallaws and ending the day around, as well as a great dock with place to anchor our boat while we stayed. The sandbar in the middle of the lake is a great hangout spot during the day for all ages. Frank, the owner is super nice and accomodating. He checked in a few times just to make sure we had everything that we needed and to make sure we weren't running out of anything. We made some forever family memories and cannot wait to do it all again next Summer.
