Newaygo, Michigan
The Cabin at the River offers a serene location, great fishing, and kayaking, very close to the public boat launch, and the Cabin can accommodate boat parking. With 20 acres of woods and Michigan Prairie, there is wildlife to observe and trails to hike. But life at the Cabin revolves around one thing: the river. Just a few steps down gives easy access for your fly-fishing adventures for brown and rainbow trout, steelhead and coho salmon. Let the kids explore and find the crayfish. Put your kayak in right from your Cabin, or rent a canoe, kayak, or tube just up the road at Croton Dam and paddle or float by your Cabin to the High Rollaway for easy pick-up. When you aren't on or in the river, you will probably be listening to it or watching it from the Cabin. There is always something happening: Great Blue Herons fly low and strong up and down river twice a day, while Bald Eagles soar above, and kingfishers dive. Flotillas of families float by and wave while you watch from the lawn chairs. Watch the fishermen and women pull out a big one! When the sun sets, grill a steak out on the patio, or build a fire in the outdoor fire pit and toast marshmallows. Inside, watch TV if you must (from the two leather Lazy Boys), or pull out a game or a book or a puzzle. You will have a fully stocked kitchen, as this is a home, not just a rental property! Sleeping will be comfortable, whether you snooze in the king bed on the sleeping porch bedroom, or in one of the two twin beds in the rear bedroom, or on the queen sleeper in the living room. The Cabin demands a slower pace than at home, but it is not isolated. Casual restaurants are close, as are great hiking trails, and if you want a longer field trip, Lake Michigan beaches beckon just an hour west, or the best mid size city in the Midwest is just 45 minutes south. But you will probably want to stay and play games on the lawn or see if a walk in the woods, on the marked trails will yield a sighting of the deer, porcupine, or wild turkeys. Relax. You are on Cabin time.
Great place to stay . Its a great place for fishing. Neighbors are great as well.
My wife and I have very busy and demanding lives,, between work, 11 grandchildren, and just life in general....... so, we decided to find a peaceful getaway, and for Karen's cabin on vrbo about 2 years ago, and we stayed a couple nights..... it was such a relaxing and peaceful stay, surrounded by nature and the sound of the river, right from the backyard.... so we booked another stay, and we just got home,,, it was exactly what we needed.... i already can't wait to back a third time..... and all the fishing you can handle, right ftom the yard into the big beautiful river........ i could keep going, but you get it....... out of a score from 1 to 10.... it's a 50... lol..... and the host, Karen is so kind and I'm glad to know her and grateful for her sharing this beautiful and serene property......
We have stayed at this house the past 3 years for the salmon run. The fishing can be hit or miss, but the house is in a perfect location.
Beautiful, relaxing! I wish I didn't have to leave ❤
Very relaxing! Great area to stay. Being able to get up in the morning & have coffee while watching the beautiful river right out your back door is very relaxing & renewing.
WONDERFUL, CLEAN, RELAXING. BEAUTIFUL
Owner is amazing .... property is fantastic for a million reasons.... i always hate to leave and the grounds are lovely to explore with our grand babies or our kids that come to visit. You must give this place a try, just steer clear of mid August because thats the time i like to be there usually ?
This is our 3rd or 4th yr at the cabin & we absolutely love it! Read, watched fishermen & tubers, sat in the river all day. Just the best!!
Great property very nicely stocked and clean, right next to the Muskegon River. I walked out of house and into the river, caught several Steelheads.
My 17 year son and i had a great stay during late April. Great scenic setting. No complaints at all. It was unusually cold while we stayed and so were inside, so had wished that we would have downloaded some movies because the internet was not able to keep up with streaming. We had a great time and the house was outfitted with everything you could want from a short term rental.
Very Scenic and enjoyable stay.
Great veiws river and woods easy accessible to river quiet and peaceful at night, eagles were a bonus
I caught a nice size king Salmon, watched the fire burn in the fire pit, saw couple of Eagles fly by & Blue Herrings too. Enjoyed the place emencely. Very relaxing!
This was my second stay at the house, and I want to come back next year. There were literally salmon in view in from the back deck, and the fishing was amazing. The house also has a very nice property with private hiking trails.
Stayed for the weekend to do some salmon fishing and done great. The river was nice and low which made it easy fishing and it was great enjoying the river from our campfire at the cottage
Beautiful scenery with easy access for fishing on the river. We loved it!
Loved it, the view of the river was great and the house was cozy. We enjoyed hiking around the property on the trails, saw some deer and a turkey. The neighborhood was quiet. Overall a very peaceful weekend, we'd love to come back sometime!
We enjoyed our stay and the cabin had everything we needed
I consider it an honor to stay at this place. It has everything to unplug and have fun. We have stayed several times and absolutely love it!
This property is in an amazing location. We were so thankful for the peacefulness of it and it was still close to a cute little town with great restaurants. Highly recommend staying here if you just need to get away from all the noise. We will be staying here again.
This was our third stay at this property. It's always great to stay there. It's quiet, private, well maintained and easy to access.
We enjoyed a relaxing weekend. The cabin is clean and comfortable. Newaygo is a charming town. The river is beautiful to sit and watch and for canoeing. Everything was perfect.
We had a wonderful second stay at this cabin. We go to escape the neighborhood fireworks. It is very peaceful and quiet at the river. Also the cabin stays remarkably cool. It was a hot sunny week and we didn't have to use the AC once. We just did some window management!!! Karen is a wonderful hot to work with!!!
Better than we had imagined!! Very peaceful & BEAUTIFUL. Saw lots of wildlife deer, heron, trout . Had a bonfire at night. Truly relaxing!!
Amazing piece of property on the Muskegon river! Loved watching the fly fisher people and all the wild life! No floaters in early June so it was super peaceful! Thank you for a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary!
