Our family of 5 had a great time for 1 week beginning of May in remote St Romain. The house is charming and authentic with modern comfort. Good beds and bathrooms. The garden has perfect views over woods and vineyards. Also from the pool which can be heated. St Romain en haut is a perfect tiny French village and 3 great walks start right at the village. For shopping and restaurants you need to go to Beaune at 15 min drive. Meursault has a small supermarket and good bakery at 10 min. Both worth going.

Arrival: There was no personal meet & greet. We were given an address and told the keys were in the barn. On finding the barn it was padlocked. We assumed we were in the wrong place and spent half an hour trying to find it!. After several phone calls to track down the owner he told us the code for the lock...why not just give us this to begin with? Cleanliness: we appreciate that it is a large old property but the standard of cleanliness (in the kitchen and living room in particular) was not good. Greasy surfaces in the kitchen, cooker top dirty, grease stains on the wall. There was no welcome pack with things like milk, butter etc. The lounge area was dusty & cobwebbed. There was garden furniture stuffed under the stairs and a pool cleaning machine in the lounge! Nothing like the photos in the listing. Decor / furniture: Whilst taste is very subjective it is important to furnish and dress each room appropriately for its purpose. The owners knew prior to arrival that we were a couple yet the “master bedroom” contained, in addition to the double bed, 3 children’s beds, a writing desk and chair and, in the middle of the room, an old fashioned TV. The trailing cable from this TV presented a dangerous tripping hazard... but no wardrobe. Again nothing like the listing photos. The same applied to the ground floor. Non matching furniture in the living room including another writing desk and pool cleaning machine. In summary, the whole house resembled an antiques shop waiting to be tidied out. Master Bathroom: only accessible via an extremely steep, open staircase with no hand rails on the wall. Bad enough in the light, but certainly not at night! This challenging feature is not mentioned anywhere in the property description and makes the house unsuitable for several categories of guest. Oh - and they don’t provide pool towels and the bathmats we also soaking wet when we arrived. In short we were very disappointed not only with the property but with the lack of welcome and the inadequate handling of our request for a very reasonable partial refund.

Beautiful property in a stunning location. If you want an authentic taste of rural French wine country....and the associated peace and quiet.....look no further! Great hiking straight out of the door. Great stay, thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious and well-tended house. The view from the garden is stunning and St Romain is a quiet, serene village with an interesting history. The lovely town of Beaune nearby provides all the facilities needed, e.g. shopping.

This is a lovely well appointed house in a charming village. We would love to return at some point. Our only suggestion is that if it weren’t for a neighbor we would have had more trouble finding the house. The picture reflects the back of the house. Wonderful place. It was unfortunate that there isn’t-or we couldn’t find- a cafe or village store to walk to and enjoy the local atmosphere

This property exceeded our expectations which were pretty high based on pics and prior reviews read. The location is perfectly centered around the top wine villages in Burgundy. The neighborhood/village road around the property is perfectly charming and loaded with character, including a small church right next door of the same. Front courtyard and back terrace are so full of that rustic Burgundy character but renovated in grade A fashion. The view of the rock crags of St. Romain can be seen from every Angle in the back of the house. We love the property, we loved the owners care to ensure we were happy during our stay and we loved Burgundy. We will be coming back!

The house is quintessential French country. More than what we could have ever dreamed of. Plenty of room for four adults and more. The kitchen oven is a wanna be chef’s dream. The village is something like from a movie. We had to pinch ourselves to believe it wasn’t a dream. The pool overlooking The valley was perfect after a day of biking. The owner was here to greet us and she was very kind and gave plenty of helpful information. Be sure to have dinner at Bistro de Sandra. Also, book a Burgundy Bike Tour out of Beaune to have a true wine and regional experience.
