The reason for the three star rating has to do with the response of Vacasa who manages this property. One of the shower heads broke from the moment we turned on the shower and I called to alert them the day of check-in. I had to call two more times and sent pics and it was never fixed. The house was full and we had one less shower than I had planned on and paid for. The house itself was clean when we arrived and has a lot of space. The downstairs room is great with an updated kitchen. The deck and view were awesome. There is a gas firepit on the deck we really enjoyed. This in an older home but that is apparent in the pictures. It was clean and comfortable. Just be aware that getting a response from the “host” of this property should anything go wrong may not happen.

For our 30th wedding anniversary, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Riverhill Ridge for a week. It was such a blessing and exactly the restful, relaxing week we needed. The house and area was perfect for us. The highlight of the house is the location. Tucked away in the woods on the side of a hill with an absolutely gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge mountain range rolling away into the distance. We spent a lot of time just hanging out on the big back deck enjoying that view. From listening to the birds singing throughout the day, to watching the lightning bugs come out each evening, we couldn't have asked for a more relaxing location. The Tuckasegee river is within walking distance from the house. (I walked to it several times throughout the week) Whether fishing for trout or just sitting and listening to the water gurgle over the stones, I couldn't get enough of the river. Our daughter and her boyfriend joined us for a few days and we spent one of those days tubing down the Tuckasegee. During our ride, a bald eagle plunged into the river after a fish less than 20 feet from us. It was magical. There are a ton of restaurants and things to do within a short drive of the house. Whether you want to shop, walk around the Biltmore Estate, dig for gems or try your luck at the casino, there is something here for everyone. I highly recommend this house and we will definitely be back.
