Stayed Dec 26, 2021The Cabin is a cozy and well supplied place for a relaxing respite. Close to Woodstock and Kingston we enjoyed the games, CDs, local walks and food, comfortable beds and the welcoming ambiance Our hosts were extremely gracious and even left us a small holiday welcome package for humans and dogs alike!

Stayed Nov 24, 2021My spouse and I wanted a cozy getaway for Thanksgiving with our 3 dogs (yes…3 short haired LARGE dogs weighing 115, 50 and 55 pounds respectively). As we searched VRBO, this was the only property that was truly pet friendly. John’s initial message when we inquired about his place clearly let us know that he is also an animal lover! A short drive from NYC, we found the property to be very cozy, clean and filled with amenities! We had read that John puts out welcome baskets from previous reviews, so we also took it upon ourselves to bring him a little thank you gift from us, to thank him for opening his home during Thanksgiving. We wanted a place to cuddle with our dogs, cook our Thanksgiving meal, sit in front of a fire and enjoy nature. John put out seeds for the critters and it is AWESOME to sit in his living room watching cardinals, blue jays and chipmunks scamper in for their buffet meal (I think I finally learned the difference between a chipmunk and a squirrel. We are definitely Team Chipmunk!). I thought it was funny that he asked us to keep our garbage in his garage but one night, we saw a very large raccoon (no joke, this thing was bigger than our Bulldog!) walk in front of the deck sliding doors. Noted! For you future renters: keep the garbage in the garage! If you want a cozy place to do a quick getaway, get inspired by nature from a gentleman that clearly loves cats, all creatures great and small and Monty Python (check out his DVD collection! Anyone who owns Monty Python and loves animals is alright by us!) with a clean kitchen, bathroom and living room, select this space! Our city dogs LOVED the outdoor area. We know your pup or cat will too! We had to leave a day earlier than planned (unforeseen) and John was more than generous with us. So long as you text him and let him know when you get in and when you are leaving, he really is super kind and understanding. I’m sure it is a lot to rent out your home to complete strangers, so we always go in respecting everyone’s property. We certainly appreciated John opening his home for us. Hope you are able to enjoy it as much as we did!

Stayed Jun 12, 2021John was the perfect host - attentive and communicative pre- arrival, but once we were at his home he checked in a couple times and otherwise let us be. He and Chris have a lovely home, very cutely decorated. We especially enjoyed looking out the kitchen window at breakfast, and out the glass doors to the deck come evening. A lot of green...friendly critters...peace. We enjoyed walking in both Woodstock and Kingston, but enjoyed their home on a country road even more. We look forward to a return stay.

Stayed May 28, 2021My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. We were getting out of town for a much needed trip to help us reconnect before we welcome our first child in just a few months. We entered the property to find the cutest little welcome basket filled with delicious treats. The location was perfect and we spent time exploring Woodstock and Kingston, eating lots of yummy foods, walking along the waterfront in downtown Kingston, and looking at all the shops on Tinker Street. We also enjoyed just relaxing during the rain and enjoying the cozy/homey atmosphere of the property.

Stayed Apr 1, 2021We were delighted to find a clean, comfortable, cozy home along a winding rolling road tucked into the woods of the Woodstock area of New York. The uniquely appropriate decor and welcoming birds, squirrels and other creatures of the woods only added to the charm of this lovely spot.

Stayed Feb 13, 2021This is a warm, cozy getaway with everything you need. We enjoyed the wood stove for both warmth and S’mores. The kitchen was well equipped. Our cats enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels feed outside on the deck. We hope to return in the warmer months to enjoy the outdoor spaces. John and Chris are wonderful hosts.

Stayed Nov 26, 2020We had a wonderful stay. The place is cozy and charming, checking in was a breeze, the welcome basket with goodies was a great surprise and the setting is perfect for a trip away from the city. Access to hiking and both Kingston and Woodstock are super easy. I'd definitely stay again.

Stayed Sep 25, 2020We really enjoyed our stay at John’s house. He was a great communicator and even left us a nice little gift basket with snacks and champagne for our arrival. The house itself is secluded and peaceful, with everything we needed intentionally placed where it was easy to find. First time in the area and we really enjoyed ourselves as the leaves were turning. We did some local hiking and fishing in the Ahoskan. We also stopped into Woodstock for lunch (about a 10 min drive). The location of the house is central to a ton of activities, so it was tough to choose but John provided some good recommendations. The house definitely has a cozy vibe. We felt right at home within an hour of arriving. All the art and interesting little items throughout the home definitely gave us the vibe that this is a place for peace. There’s also a good amount of wild life nearby and a bunch of outdoor seating through every door of the house. We were comfortable, relaxed and at peace during our stay. Can’t recommend it enough!

Stayed Aug 24, 2020This charming little house provided an ideal place for me, my daughter and son-in-law, my seven month old grandson and my two cats to spend a week together. We all loved it! The big glass sliding doors onto the deck gave us an upfront view of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, a groundhog....and our hosts had provided bird food and peanuts for us to attract them. The many outdoor tables and chairs (and hammock) around the house are all beautiful places to relax in gorgeous scenery. And the house is perfectly located -- a few minutes from either Woodstock or Kingston. Indoors, there's a wealth of potential rainy day/evening activities, including a great collection of board games, and a kitchen well-supplied with pots, pans, dishware, cutlery, etc. We were particularly struck by the thoughtfulness of our hosts: everything we could possibly need in an emergency was there: extra keys to the garage, flash lights, fly swatters, fire extinguishers, etc. Plus a lovely little welcome basket of Blanc de Blanc wine and munchies :-) They immediately responded to a text-message question about extra keys; and they texted us a storm alert from the local electrical utility, just in case. All in all, a wonderful week. We would be delighted to return!
