big house on a plot of 5000m2, 4 km from the beach for 16-18 people

Spacious house and yard, plenty of room for our multi generation family of 13 on vacation. Location was good, we had cars, with plenty of parking, for travel/ road trips. Check in was delayed due to travel and no cell service. Would recommend for those looking to have a quiet retreat from the cities, but yet close enough of a drive into cities. Grocery store was only 10 minutes away, and we even ordered a delivery for our day of check in!

Great location.

Great for big groups, the teenagers loved the pool and game area. We used the outdoor grill. Jon was great and attentive to our needs. Only disappointment was the location- thought we would be able to walk to Sopelana beach and the metro stop as well. It was more remote than we thought.

Everything worked out. House is very nice. Good communication with owner. Travel with Lufthansa was a disaster.

Good quiet location, excellent set up for children

The house is fantastic. It offers plenty of space, is well-equipped and maintained, and provides a lot of possibilities to be active - sports, games, nature etc. Jon and David were very friendly and helpful before and during the stay. We stayed there with 18 people, and had a great time mainly in the garden, but also with visits to Bilbao or the beach of Plentzia. I can 100% recommend this place for staying with larger groups.

Wonderful holiday, spent with extended family. The house was a perfect base for exploring the delights of the Basque Country. The house boasts lots of facilities, from a music system which connects speakers across the house and into the outside seating areas, and wonderfully kitted out indoor and outdoor play areas, to a lovely kitchen with all the required apparatus. The house is in a wonderful location, nestled away in a secluded spot amongst the forests of fragrant eucalyptus conifers, and lies in the middle of many wonderful trail routes, perfect for some challenging trekking, running or cycling. The lovely outdoor pool was a winner with the children and adults alike, and the large outdoor dining table and seating allowed us to take our evening meals and drinks outside enjoying the tranquil sounds of nature, under the setting sun and stars. A large local supermarket (Eroski) is only 10 minutes away in car, as is the closest metro link (Berango) which connects to Bilbao and runs along the coastal line of Biscay up to Plentzia. From the moment we booked the holiday, Jon was a great help. We were met at the airport and assisted in collecting our rental cars, and then welcomed into our home with some delicious homemade tortilla's and chilled wine. Jon was more than happy to make suggestions on places to visit, and was a very knowledgeable and passionate Basque citizen. For the duration of our holiday, Jon was always available for advice and help, if needed. We loved our time in the Basque country; visiting many of its wonderful beaches, from the local Playa de Ereaga in Getxo, across to the surfers’ paradise of Mundaka (especially enjoyed the Arrietara beach of Sopela and Playa de Plentzia of Gorliz). A great day was spent in Bilbao, visiting the spectacular Guggenheim museum and impressive San Mamés Stadium, and a special mention must also be made for the stunning picturesque island of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, well worth the drive out (approx 30km) with a rewarding trek up to the small church offering breath-taking views and much fun to be had exploring the surrounding rocky coastline. Sustatxa Bidea, a beautiful house in a beautiful part of the world.

This was the first time we have ever stayed in a villa... We got this last week of August by chance as we booked it very late... We don't regret not one bit of it.... The house was simply perfect... I literally felt a wave of anxiety the day I realised I had to pack and leave... I've never felt sad leaving my own home country of Jamaica when we went on holiday and I can't believe I didn't want to leave Sustatxa Bidea after just 6days... The owner Jon was an absolute god send! If it weren't for him we wouldn't have survived our first two days... We arrived too late on Saturday to do any grocery shopping and the supermarkets are not opened on a Sunday. He brought us milk, hot chocolate, bread and jam early Sunday morning and he also gave us the details of a restaurant that delivered to the house... He told us about Eroski supermarket who also has online shopping facilities which was really convenient as the delivery charge was a fraction of the taxi fare we would have had to pay to go there in person... One regret we have was that we didn't hire a car as we knew we should have - but that's entirely our fault... JON, his dad and his brother David made our holiday a dream come true... Oh yea one more thing he also gets 5stars for his communication... Nuh no email goes unanswered.... XxxxxX
