The property had some cute features, but needs some upgrading with the electric. The hair dryer in the bathroom is unusable and rusty, it needs to be removed and replaced, I emailed the property asking for a loaner and got no response. The bed was comfortable. Not a good property for those who are challenged by walking uphill and stairs up to the house.
This property is just basic. They gave us 1 toilet paper roll For a 3 day stay. We were not told about this so we had to go buy TP. Also to get to property you must walk up a STEEP hill over half a mile. This was very hard with an infant and stroller/car seat. It would probably work for a young couple no kids or one person.
This was advertised as sleeping 4 people. The main bed was ok, the day bed was unusable. It squeaked so much we had to take the mattress off & sleep on the floor. It was also very cold. The outside temperature was in the 50s and there was no heat in the unit. I sent them messages asking how to get heat but never got a response. We had to wear coats anytime we were there.
The property exceeded our expectations. The view from the unit and private deck was amazing. The unit was large enough for our family with teenagers to stay for 4 days comfortably.
Would not stay again. Comforters and shams were filthy. Silverware was missing. Mold in the kitchen window sills. Rust and water stains everywhere. Very few staples for cooking and the walls are paper thin so you can hear all the neighbors. Overall, gross.
Great location and well stocked. Nice space. Definitely could hear noise from above unit, so be mindful of that when booking, especially if you have young children who go to bed early.
Great location. Some items outdated…Hair dryer was rusty and broke…it was cold and the heaters didn’t work. Kinda of a bummer. Overall it was a great stay and would stay again.
This property was in a fantastic location and had everything we wanted. It also had a few extra things: there were some ants (we figured out where they were coming in and plugged the entry) - it is an island so ants can be expected. The property was clean but a little worn. It may need some new paint and such but still was good to make meals, sleep and hang out at night. And again, the location was fantastic. Would very much recommend and property manager was very responsive (and we didn’t mention the ants as we plugged the entry).
We stayed here Monday-Friday and while we had no neighbors (as we had hoped), there was construction on the property, including a cement mixer and noisy hammering and saws. We contacted the property manager who said she would send someone to check it out and call us back, but we never heard from anyone.
Everything was very smooth and the place was well stocked with essential items. Great experience.
This little apartment was a comfortable place and perfect for our family of four to experience Catalina. I especially enjoyed having breakfast in in the large kitchen with its bank of west-facing windows. The management company does a great job providing all the necessary items, plus a great little library plus a puzzle collection which was a big hit. The WiFi was good.
Didn't know what to expect, as we booked last minute on what was a very busy weekend --major nurses' event and a few weddings -- at Avalon. Ideal distance from main water-fronting street - short walk but far enough for tranquility. Avalon food better than expected, people way friendly, short walk to great scuba park by Casino. Two nights felt like a vay-kay. Only an hour from the dock at LB and you could (with super-power optics) see our house in LA, but islands have island magic.
We had a hassle-free experience renting two houses in Catalina for a family reunion.
The property management company (Catalina Properties/ Oranj Palm) gave us the wrong address for key pick up. We came to the address they gave us with all our luggage and we had a baby with us. The place was locked up, nobody was there and nobody knew anything about them. I had to call corporate office to find out their new location ( at which they’ve been for the past 3 months). So we had to log all our stuff to a different location. At the new location we got a bunch of “ sorties” , but no actual amends were made. The rental is up a steep hill, so you’ll definitely get your steps in. Despite its small size, it comfortably accommodated all of us ( 3 adults and 1 baby). However, the place is dirty ( hair stuck to shower walls/ ceiling), sticky linoleum floors. Basic necessities like dish soap, sponge , trash bags were not there. I had to call the office for these things. So, it was definitely a hassle. The owners/ management does absolute bare minimum here.
