1820's Home on 200 acres w/ Sand Beach 5 mins from Acadia Nat'l Park at Schoodic

This was a great choice for our large group of friends (15). Each couple or single was able to have their own bedroom and bathroom to themselves. We even had one member twist her ankle on Cadillac Mountain, and we appreciated one of the first floor bedrooms with the handicap accessible bathroom! A few of us were worried when the listing said no air conditioning, but our stay was in the height of the summer - the last week of July, and we truly didn’t need it. The front and back windows created a nice cross breeze with the ocean air. Each room has a fan. However, many nights were so cool that we shut our windows and slept in sweatshirts. Not one person complained about being too hot. Our host Ben was extremely attentive right from the start, and answered all our questions and gave wonderful advice of things to check out. The property on the ocean was beautiful, quiet, and super close to Acadia and an hour away (but very easy drive) to Bar Harbor. I hope we come back!

Our 2025 family reunion included 33 people from 1 year old to 76 in both the 1820's House and the Captain's House. The accommodations were comfortable and the houses were up to the task. There was room enough to gather together and space enough for smaller groups or down time. The accessibility was adequate for our one handicapped family member. The kitchen was well equipped. The formal dining room in the Captain's House wasn't quite large enough to accommodate us all but the second dining area worked well for the overflow. The grounds were ideal for the younger generation with room enough for volleyball, baseball, soccer, croquet and more. The barn/concert hall had room for all of us and plenty more. We enjoyed much music and a family talent show there. The beach and shorefront is absolutely spectacular and held us from going off to explore more of the area although the nearby Schoodic area of Acadia National Park offered us several hikes and a wonderful picnic. The host, Ben, was super helpful when we needed a few small things and is obviously deeply connected to the property. Short version-an ideal location for a family gathering. Thank you Ben!

My family had a wonderful time at Ben's place! The house gave us a great place to gather and the location was wonderful. Beautiful views and easy access to the Schoodic Loop of Acadia National Park. Highly recommend!

This is a rustic place built in 1820 so not like a hotel but what a great time for families and kids. The beach is a minute away and a lovely little town is a short walk. If you are looking for a relaxing time far from the madding crowd this will fit the bill!

A magical setting for a summer family reunion. The home - full of history and character - is steps from ocean, meadow, and forest. And Ben, the proprietor, couldn’t be more informative, kind, and thoughtful. He was spot-on with all of the area’s gems, and the surprise homemade berry/rhubarb pie was a huge hit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much, Ben!

This is a charming victorian home with so much room!! Plenty of bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, fan, and storage space. Ocean and meadow views. Wonderful sea breezes. Ben is working hard to maintain and improve this property. He was easily available and full of suggestions and tidbits. Location is perfect. Close enough to both Schoodic and Acadia but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. I would definitely recommend this property.

Ben was a spectacular host! He had a lot of great suggestions for what to do in the area. The house had great access to the beach and Schoodic peninsula activities that were much less crowded than the Bar Harbor area. It was only an hour away from Bar Harbor, so not a bad drive for activity booked there. Only 5 minutes from Lunch on the Wharf…one great lunch!

Our kind host Ben met us upon arrival and described all the nearby attractions and we took full advantage. In addition to the sandy ocean beach across the road, we hiked Schoodic Head in nearby Acadia, ate at Lunch on the Wharf in Corea, golfed at Grindstone, hiked and swam at Donnell Lake SP, explored Petit Manan Bird Sanctuary and visited Winter Harbor for coffee and breakfast. Our 3 generation family group of 13 appreciated the many bedrooms with private baths!

It was wonderful. Ideal location away from the crowded tourist areas but convenient to Acadia park. Ben met us when we arrived and gave us information on the local area. When we were leaving my granddaughter said she didn’t want to leave. House was very unique and lovely.

Unique in that there was a lot to do, beach day, fishing, Bar Harbor, Acadia, etc.
