A cozy room offering a king-size bed and a queen size bed. Guests can enjoy a small refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, coffee pot, desk, private bathroom with shower, large closet, and a small outdoor sitting area. As guests of Hale Akua Garden Farm & Eco-Retreat Center, we offer access to our sixty-foot swimming pool, large hot tub looking over the ocean, infrared sauna, shared retreat-kitchen facilities, and to purchase our organic farm's produce and eggs.

Our eco-retreatcenter is situated in the lush tropical rainforest of north shore Maui in Haiku, making our property the perfect location for growing organic fruits and vegetables. The land is bathed in ocean trade winds and negative ions from the 150-foot waterfall just below us. We offer an alternative Maui experience in comparison to the leeward side resorts and are the perfect mid-point stay for a road to Hana journey.

The center's buildings are situated along the cliffside of a seven-acre property. The Plumeria room is on the ground floor of the Ohana House, just a short walk to the shared: pool, hot tub, sauna, and kitchen.

Hale Akua is a magical and idyllic place created and designed to provide a natural and supportive environment for groups, couples, families, and individuals to relax, renew, and restore well-being.

Guests have access to the eco-retreat facilities which include the large saltwater pool, hot tub overlooking the ocean, kitchen, and dining area. Guests can also get guidance on what is great to visit by looking through our guidebook in their room or asking for help at the office.

Office is open Mon - Sun from 9am - 5pm. We also provide an after-hours phone if you need anything outside these hours. Upon your booking, we provide you with a Welcome Booklet that includes local recommendations and anything else you may be wondering about before and during your stay.

Note: Please keep in mind, our center is a rustic compound in the middle of the jungle. We do have de-humidifiers and air purifiers in every room. We are centered in a tropical rainforest with many weird and wonderful insect species. We only use natural pesticides and cleaning chemicals on the property. As a result, we occasionally have more animal visitors. These may include geckos, ants, flying cockroaches, centipedes, cane spiders, and mice. We are in their natural habitat, so we will not be able to refund any portion of your stay for these house guests.

The price listed includes cleaning fees and extra coffee, tea, and cream if needed in the room.

{ABOUT HALE AKUA}

Hale Akua Garden Farm & Eco-Retreat Center is an agricultural and wellness education and retreat center located in Haʻikū, Maui.

Nestled in a magical and idyllic setting, Hale Akua is thoughtfully designed to provide a natural, supportive environment for groups, families, couples, and individuals to learn, relax, and restore well-being while immersing themselves in an eco-educational experience in Hawaii. Hale Akua offers farm-based and wellness education and experiential learning, accommodations, and organic and seasonal produce from our land.

Accommodations are available for those seeking overnight lodging with an intention of an immersive education and experiential learning experience about farm and wellness. Hale Akua provides agricultural and wellness classes and retreats, as well as serving as a learning center for leadership development programs for visitors, students and local community.

Farm workshops are offered in organic farming practices, sustainable land management, biodiversity and ecosystem awareness, permaculture design, regenerative agriculture, composting, aquaponics, soil health and conservation, alternative energy, and ecology. The retreat center also offers programs covering a range of Native Hawaiian cultural practices, including but not limited to ho‘oponopono, lomi lomi massage, and mālama ʻāina. Additional offerings include communication training, meditation, and personal development programs. Furthermore, wellness classes and workshops such as yoga, breathwork, and meditation, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices are also offered weekly or monthly.

The mission of Hale Akua Garden Farm & Eco-Retreat Center is to provide a beautiful and nurturing environment for experiential learning, healing, rejuvenation, personal growth, and inner peace for all its visitors and students.

Our office is open Mon - Sun from 9am - 5pm. We also provide an after-hours phone if you need anything outside these hours.

The solar electric system at Hale Akua currently consists of 200 solar panels, 12 inverters, and 24 solar batteries. Our founder Lori Grace has invested in this system to prevent unnecessary contributions to climate change. This solar electric system will add another two days of electricity, provided there has been an adequate amount of sunlight charge before an electrical outage. We also have 10 Eco-Flow batteries (3kw electricity per room) which can add two to three days of electricity if needed. Learning to live on limited electricity is a wonderful and necessary education for our current climate situation. We would like for all our guests to learn to work together with our staff in these situations.
Large hotels here on Maui that experience an electrical failure do not provide backup power, nor do they offer refunds. As we do not feel responsible for Hawaiian Electric’s failures, there will be an opportunity for education rather than a refund if we have an outage, and our staff will assist you the best they can.

We loved staying in Huelo...we were looking for peace and tranquility so that we could reconnect as a family. It was the perfect setting for us! We loved the pool, hot tub, kitchen facilities and there was even a surprise wellness, fundraising day filled with yoga, massage, amazing food & more... what a treat! Wonderful staff were helpful and welcoming. Mahalo nui loa to all!

Read the welcome manual in your room lol but this was the most beautiful stay with a great host Andras! I’m so happy I found this at the last minute and got to wake up everyday in this oasis. The pool at night is a MUST as well as visiting with the farm animals. The only thing that had me weary was the beautiful array of spiders and their many cool webs all over the property :) be careful when going for a walk. It’s just 25 mins from Paia where you’ll find all you need. I wish I could stay again when I come back in April but it’s just so great it’s all booked up! Whenever you get the chance, snatch up any room available!

I absolutely loved the Hale Akua Garden Farm. The grounds are beautiful with lush foliage and tranquil ponds and pools. There is a deck with an amazing view of the ocean through a valley. The same deck is the location of a large hot tub and an infrared sauna (neither of which I used). There is also a beautiful swimming pool. And all of these amenities are open to guests 24 hours. The place is also a working organic farm!! The staff that we interacted with (Michelle and Sasha) were very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the Plumeria Room which was very large and very comfortable and, based on their website, I think there are many other nicer rooms offered. (Those weren't available when I booked.) In short this is a truly magical place. I would highly recommend it and hope to return.

Really enjoyed this area, beautiful and quiet out in the country. We used it as a starting point to do the road to Hana
