Cedar Oaks Lakeside Resort - Previously Ohana/Riviera Resort - Under New Ownership

This air conditioned cottage is the perfect space for your family getaway. There are 2 bedrooms, 1 bathrooms, a living room with flat screen TV, and a kitchen.

The best part of this cottage is the access to the gorgeous property and amenities that surround it. You will have access to our 200' dock to fish off of. Please bring your own anchors / tie downs for your boats. We have over 300' of lakefront to swim and play in, a huge 40'x40' sandbox full of toys for the kids, multiple gas BBQ grills for you to use and many picnic tables for outdoor eating and relaxing. We also have two fire pits to use.

This cottage comes with one set of fresh sheets, blankets and pillows and towels. If you will need more than one set for your stay please bring additional ones as we do not do exchanges or have a washer/dryer available for guest use. There are basic dishes, glasses and silverware and pots/pans for your use, but if you plan on doing a lot of cooking I suggest bringing specific cookware that you want. We do supply you with toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, and paper towel, but do not refill once it has been used.

If golf is your game there are many great golf courses nearby:
1. The quest is a great track that is close and a great value.
2. We are located 30 min away from Forest Dunes, the number two public course in Michigan (Second to Arcadia). Forest Dunes also just opened the highly anticipated reversible course.
3. You also have The Fox, Redwood Golf Course, The Nightmare, The Dream and Ye Olde Country Club

Main crossroads are M55 (W. West Branch Rd) and East Houghton Lake Dr (also known as 100).

The best location on the lake. From the beach you can see the most perfect sunsets. It looks like the big beautiful sun is being extinguished by the lake as it goes down.

Great vacation spot. Overall nice hotel with a great beach for multi family’s that stay. Overall the executive sweet that we stayed in was a bit outdated and needs to be updated, even though mostly family hung outside. Kayaks unavailable do to new owner not having insurance was a little disappointing for my family. Staff was absolutely the best and Blake’s BBQ restaurant on site is absolutely out of this world.

The wind off the lake never stopped! The place was roomy, clean and right on the lake. Small mini fridge and no stove but they had a gas bbq and we bought a electric griddle. Kids loved the sand. Water clear and shallow. No luck fishing off the dock but there was the canel across the street that we had some good luck with catching fish.

This is an older Resort Property that does need some renovation, but the rooms were clean and well kept. The beach pinic area is nice, we spent the day swimming /BBQ. We stayed upstairs in the Lodges Suite. The view of the lake is awesome. What made the trip was the Resort Manager Suzy, we had a couple Issues and she over and above to ensure they were resolved . Because of her we are planning another weekend trip this summer.

We arrived and were directed to our suite which was very large and clean. The staff is exceptional…they are courteous and swift. We rented the pontoon and had a wonderful day on the water. I will definitely return to Ohana Resort in Houghton Lake. ❤️❤️

This property has several buildings. There is the main office which is a restaurant bar on the first floor and a hotel with about 10 or so rooms on the second floor including the executive suite which is the two bedroom place we stayed in that faces the lake. The other buildings appeared to be cabins but we didn't really look at them. The parking lot is small and very congested. In order to access the room we had to go through the main office entrance up the stairs and down a narrow 40' hallway. If you are staying in that room expect a workout to get your stuff from your vehicle to your room. The folks running the place were friendly, helpful and great to talk to. The view of the east bay of the lake is fantastic. Now for the not so good. The place is in need of a major renovation. Aside from the paint and some flooring it doesn't look like anything has happened to this place in 40 years. This place needs to be gutted and renovated or the price needs to drop dramatically before I would return. It smells like cigarette smoke. The handrail on the staircase is a filthy greasy rope. It works I guess but who wants to touch it? The room was generally clean but it didn't smell great and there were food crumbs and other plastic garbage under some of the furniture. The bedrooms were dark with uncomfortable depleted mattresses. The bathroom door scrapes on the floor and you have to force it open and closed. The bathtun filler nozzle was hard to close which you need to do to get the water to come out of the showerhead. The showerhead is worn out and flops around so you have to stand over the drain to get wet and the water gets lukewarm at best. The towels were mostly clean but some were heavily stained and looked like some used them as a cleaning rag. Most of the windows throughout didn't work and had handwritten notes on them stating this and the fireplace in the middle of the room didn't work either. The heating and cooling system was comprised of older wall units that stink when turned on. The kitchenette had just a slightly larger than normal mini fridge a small microwave, a toaster and a standard coffee maker with no coffee or filters to be found anywhere. All those appliances were also very old. The livingroom/kitchenette over looking the lake was spacious and the view was amazing. All the furniture was random heavily worn and appeared as it were from the 70's.

THE LISTING FOR THIS PLACE IS VERY DECEPTIVE. IF YOU HAVE ANY MOBILITY ISSUES DO NOT STAY HERE. ITS VERY CUMBERSOME HAVING TO CLIMB STEEP NARROW STEPS WITH A ROPE TO HANG ONTO, TO GET TO YOUR ROOM. THERE WAS ANOTHER COUPLE HAVING A HARD TIME NAVIGATING THE NARROW ROPE STAIRS CARRYING THEIR LUGGAGE .THE ROPE IS DIRTY, GERMY, AND GRIMY FEELING. IN THESE DAYS OF COVID YOU WANT TO SEE RAILINGS (NOT ROPE) THAT ARE CLEANED REGULARLY .GOING TO THE BEACH IS NOT EASY. THERES A LARGE NUMBER OF STAIRS TO GET DOWN TO THE BEACH. THEN THERES A HIGH SEAWALL MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IN THE WATER. THERE ARE SEVERAL SIGNS WITH WARNINGS, CAUTIONS AND DANGERS OF THE SEAWALL AND DOCK. ITS A VERY OLD BUILDING IN NEED OF MANY UPDATES. THE LOBBY IS TINY TINY TINY WITH A SOFA IN THE MIDDLE THAT TAKES UP ALL THE LOBBY. ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO SOCIAL DISTANCE. WITH BATHROOMS AND STAIRS, RIGHT THERE. IT’S A VERY SMALL LOBBY. A WAITRESS HAD HER MASK DOWN BELOW HER CHIN IN THE DINING AREA ALL THE WHILE WE WERE THERE. A YOUNG MAN WENT IN AND OUT OF THE DINING AREA WITH NO MASK A FEW TIMES TO SPEAK TO A WORKER. THE INTERNET AND WI- FI ONLY SEEMED TO WORK IN THE LOBBY AND DINING ROOM AREA AND THEN IT WAS SLOW AND SPOTY. IF YOU HAVE ANY MOBILITY ISSUES THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO STAY. THE LISTING FOR VRBO PICTURES SHOWED NONE OF THE STAIRS INVOLVED. WE COULD NOT STAY THERE AND THERES NO REFUND. SO BE FOREWARNED YOU MUST BE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE LOTS AND LOTS OF STAIR TO STAY THERE. COST US OVER $600 TO LEARN THAT. ☹ TO THE OWNER, TRANSPARENCY IS VERY IMPORTANT.... ITS VERY HEART BREAKING TO BE EXCITED TO GO UP NORTH AND THEN FIND OUT YOU PHYSICALLY CAN NOT STAY THERE. :( A FEW PICTURES OF PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS OF THE BUILDING IS VERY IMPORTANT.WE NEVER BOOK A PLACE WITH A FLIGHT OF STAIRS WE KNOW OUR LIMITATIONS. I FEEL DECIEVED AND BROKE.
