The cozy Marjorie Suite is located on the upper level of the lodge, above Mr. McDonald’s private kitchen. It has a private deck and entrance, with stairs, located on the North side of the building. Parking is available nearby on the West side of the building. (We changed the name from The Family Suite to The Marjorie Suite, in Fall 2024. Marjorie was the name of one of Richard and Carol’s five daughters.)

Stayed Sep 5, 2023The location was great. We found that the elevated portion Of the room hazardous for my husband with a larger than normal step up causing safety concerns for him. Also, The left side of the King size bed had a ledge which made getting out of bed a bit cumbersome especially in the middle of the night therefore we slept separately. When booking, did not realize there was no sink in the kitchenette so dishes had to be done in the bathroom which was not ideal. In fairness to the owners none of this was discussed with them at the time of our stay.

Stayed Jul 15, 2023The McDonald Mountain Ranch was a highlight of our trip! Nestled in the Black Hills, it is a beautiful retreat with a laid back, country setting, and close to Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park. The deck on our upstairs retreat was so relaxing. We hope to stay again next time we visit SD!
