Villa Pizote sits inside the world’s first recognized Tropical Urban Park, a four‑acre living landscape quietly embedded within the town of Puerto Jiménez. This is a private, contemporary four‑bedroom villa surrounded by ponds, gardens, raised walkways, and the natural movement of wildlife that has lived here long before the park was protected. It is not a resort and not a retreat center—rather, it is a calm ecological space held gently within town, offering privacy, immersion, and a grounded sense of place.

The Setting: A Living Tropical Urban Park

Trails, small bridges, orchids, heliconias, and sun‑basking iguanas create a soft rhythm around the villa. Wildlife moves freely through the landscape: butterflies drifting through the understory, toucans and scarlet macaws overhead, and sloths resting in the canopy. Coatis and kinkajous pass along the edges, while basilisks, geckos, and green iguanas warm themselves in the sun. After rain, tree frogs and rain frogs emerge, and at dusk, bats and owls begin their quiet work.

At certain times of year, scarlet macaws feed in the almond trees and occasionally drop seeds onto the roof—a small reminder of how close the canopy truly is. And twice each day, hundreds of green parrots sweep through the treetops, their communal calls marking the shift between day and night. Nothing here is staged or fed; wildlife appears on its own terms.

A Recognized Urban Biodiversity Hotspot

Over 90 bird species have been identified within the park, making it a locally recognized urban birding hotspot. Many guests have remarked—often with genuine surprise—that they saw more wildlife here than during their visit to Corcovado National Park. The park thrives because it is protected, quiet, chemical‑free, and woven into the daily rhythm of town.

Villa Layout and Indoor Comforts

Villa Pizote is a contemporary four‑bedroom home designed for privacy and ease. Large windows and garden‑level views keep you connected to the landscape without sacrificing comfort. The villa includes:

• Four private bedrooms
. 3 1/2 bathrooms
. Outdoor Garden Shower
• Multiple indoor/outdoor sitting areas
• Air conditioning
• Hot‑water showers
• A fully equipped private kitchen
• WiFi throughout
• Garden‑level access to trails and ponds

The design is modern, simple, and intentionally low‑intervention, allowing the surrounding ecology to remain the primary presence.

Park Amenities Available to Villa Guests

Guests of the villa also have access to the park’s shared ecological spaces, including:

• A chemical‑free freshwater plunge pool under palms
• WiFi zones
• Small rest areas tucked among flowering plants
• Onsite parking
• Light concierge support for orientation to the Osa

The intention is clarity and calm rather than layers of service.

Location: Quiet Ecology Within Town

The Tropical Urban Park sits within a one‑minute walk of the domestic airport—a small propeller‑aircraft airstrip with no jet engines—and the essentials of town. Directly across the street are a convenience store and a local laundromat. The beach, town center, and banks are a seven‑minute walk, allowing you to move easily between the ecological calm of the park and the practical life of Puerto Jiménez without needing a vehicle.

Just beyond the park’s edge, the mangrove channels offer a chance to quietly observe American crocodiles in their natural habitat—an everyday part of the Osa’s coastal ecosystem and a reminder of the region’s wild continuity from forest to sea.

Stewardship and Purpose

Your stay contributes to the ongoing protection of this urban ecological corridor—an evolving model for how tropical biodiversity can coexist with community life. The park is quiet, contemplative, and alive, offering a grounded sense of place within the town itself.

The host was welcoming, which we appreciated. While there was some construction activity during our stay and the house felt a bit worn in places, it was overall comfortable. We did have some difficulty with the door lock, but aside from that, the stay was fine. For the price, the house was reasonable, and the area was quiet, though there wasn’t much to do in the reserve.
