Stayed Sep 1, 2024Our stay at the farmhouse on Cake Flower Organic Farm in Sonoma was pure magic. Every detail of the home feels intentional and beautiful, from the natural materials used throughout to the perfectly curated interiors. The beds and linens are incredibly soft—easily the best sleep ever. The indoor and outdoor lighting sets the perfect mood no matter the time of day. We loved cooking in the fully stocked kitchen, using the SMEG appliances that made every meal feel special and chic. The cookbooks provided endless inspiration, and using fresh eggs from the farm’s hens added an extra touch of charm. The washer and dryer were top-notch, and the home had every thoughtful touch you could ask for, from organic soaps to extra propane for the grill. Plus, the safe came in handy for peace of mind. The location is stunning, surrounded by some of my favorite wineries and gorgeous lakes! Every window frames a scene of sky and earth, so sunsets are spectacular during memorable al fresco dinners on the relaxing back patio. Feeding carrots to the neighboring goats and horses was a highlight, and having an EV charger available made everything so convenient. Janet and Pony, the proprietors, are the heart and soul of this place. Janet is warm and kind, with an incredible talent for creating beauty wherever she touches. Their care and dedication are evident in every corner of the farm. We left feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and grateful. We can’t wait to return to this little slice of heaven!

Stayed Jun 7, 2024Janet and Pony have created a wonderful space to stay. Beautifully furnished and well-stocked, this apartment had everything we needed for our extended stay. The grounds are remarkably well-cared for and the owners take great care to provide a peaceful stay. They are quick to respond to any needs, and kind about it, even when we locked ourselves out. You'll be happy here. locourselvesout)ourselves pot)comfortable

Stayed Nov 1, 2021We enjoyed our two-month stay in the Garden Flat at the Cakeflower Farm. The location is convenient to both Sebastopol and Santa Rosa and has easy access to HW 101 and the coast. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen very well-equipped. The unit was exceptionally well cleaned and easy to care for during our stay. The large windows, higher ceilings, garden patio and office area add a feeling of spaciousness we didn’t expect just from the photos on the web. We especially enjoyed the long views from the living room and kitchen including beautiful sunrises and sunsets, horses and goats next door, chickens free-ranging outside the patio's fencing, and the distant mountains to the west. So much fun to see the wide variety of birds that visit the patio's backyard. The hosts were very pleasant and responsive to any questions we had but were always respectful of our privacy. The location doesn’t feel remote but is far enough removed from busy highways and intrusive lights to encourage a relaxing stay. We hope we can return when the gardens are in full bloom. We enjoyed them even in November and December.

Stayed Jul 19, 2021We loved the property, neighborhood (horses and chickens next door!) and thoughtful owners. The house was super clean and well laid out with so many thoughtful touches - delicious coffee maker, luxurious linens, bikes and a grill included too! Many wineries bike-able! And a proper bike path just down the road. Also, perfect little office space and corn hole in backyard for Santa Rosa sunsets. Loved every minute of our stay here and hope to return. Thank you for a wonderful month to Janet & Pony!

Stayed May 15, 2021My parents stayed for 5 weeks at this beautiful and accommodating property, close to Santa Rosa, Forestville and Sebastopol. It was far enough away to feel like a retreat- surrounded by farmland and vineyards, yet close enough to stores and walking paths. The hosts thought of every detail- from farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator to the newspaper delivered each morning. The home is large and very accommodating for a longer stay. Beautiful country view out back with roses, herb gardens, horses and chickens.

Stayed Feb 19, 2021Janet and Pony did an amazing job renovating the garden flat. A spacious, private and well appointed unit, the garden flat is very beautifully furnished, incredibly well thought out, and has everything one needs. The neighboring farm animals and open sky are easy to enjoy from this little corner of the universe. The hosts are totally available and will simultaneously respect your space. The kitchen is 100% functional and accommodated proper cooking throughout our stay - a quality of great importance to us! Everything you need is 10 minutes from the flat. I cannot recommend this rental enough. Those who find this gem should consider themselves lucky! Thank you Janet & Pony!

Stayed Nov 23, 2020My wife and I have stayed at many VRBOs over the years and in this instance we were honored to be Janet & Pony’s inaugural VRBO guests. As such, I’m writing my first review. Janet & Pony we’re very accommodating, helped us through some logistical challenges with the VRBO reservation process and were just great hosts. This is a gem of a property - what a find! The location is absolutely perfect, surrounded by Russian River vineyards/wineries, Sebastopol within a few minutes and Santa Rosa creek walking/biking trail right down the road. If you’re looking for a centrally located launching point and a lovely place to hang your hat in the evening - this is it. The space is private, quiet and tastefully decorated. Attention to detail! Beautiful top end kitchen appliances, flatware and all the accoutrement (Nespresso + farm fresh eggs = great breakfast). Both bedrooms have spacious closets, wonderful linens and a set of comfy robes. What more could you ask for? The office space was great for working remotely and throughout the house you’ll find modernized outlets with USBs - great when your charging multiple devices daily. The fenced backyard was a lovely place to sit and watch the chickens in the morning and the sunset at the end of a nice day of wine tasting. Finally we were treated to a hot air balloon passing just overhead on our last day. Nice work Janet and Pony. We’ll be back.
