The Tintagel Cottage (pronounced Tin-ta-jel) is a luxury studio cottage located in a tranquil garden setting at the rear of an historic 4 bedroom home, situated in a historic area in Nelson known as ‘The Dress Circle’. The owners, Kay and Simon reside on-site, and have enjoyed hosting visitors at the cottage for over 15 years.

Intimate and cosy, north-facing French doors open onto an established garden, with large native trees and shrubs, home to an abundant birdlife. An oversized chess board sits beside the cottage. The interior of the cottage is light, private and warm, and tastefully decorated, including artworks from local artists.

The open plan cottage is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. All linen, crockery and kitchen appliances are provided. Facilities include a kitchenette, bathroom, entertainment area, separate laundry and secure storage facilities. Wireless internet is available to guests. There is safe on-street parking. Perfect for singles or couples.

Tintagel Cottage has the benefit of being close to a wide range of local attractions, parks, rivers, and a 15 minute walk from central Nelson. Melrose House and Café are almost across the road. Sample local beers, award-winning wines and restaurants all within a short stroll. There are numerous walks, both easy or more challenging in the immediate vicinity.

Nelson, the geographical centre of New Zealand, is a region renowned for sunshine, fine beaches, lakes, mountains and native forests. The City of Nelson is large enough to offer all the services and amenities of a large city, yet small enough to feel intimate, welcoming and friendly. With the attraction of fine foods, superb wines, an innovative craft industry, spectacular scenery and traditional Kiwi hospitality you can understand why Nelson is a place to which holiday makers flock all year round.

The Tintagel Cottage comes fully furnished and ready for your comfortable occupancy.

This cottage was the perfect home base during a month of exploration, and Kay and Simon the perfect hosts. I hope to return to this charming spot again someday!

Excellent location for wandering to town or driving out of town to explore. Cosy space with all you need. Would go back again for more time in Nelson.

Great place - wish it had included a hairdryer as we flew in to Nelson. Happily swap that for the bathroom scales :-) Just what we were looking for and 5 minutes from Melrose House for coffee.

Perfect! An enjoyable stroll into town and yet so quiet. Couldn't have asked for a better spot! Thank you Kay.

It is in a nice setting. It was clean and the bed was comfortable but it was minimal. There was soap but no shampoo. The toilet didn’t always flush completely. The duvet was on upside down with the buttons up by our faces. A nice small vase of flowers would be much better than plastic pot plant. Other wise it was OK.

There were some positives: pleasant and unobtrusive hosts, very quiet and tranquil position, excellent reading lights behind the bed. 1) The advertised photo shows the beautiful main house. BUT THE BATCH IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BUILDING! 2) The place is superficially tidy, but screaming for a deep-clean: eg mould on shower doors and rubbish bin lid, skirting boards grubby, grubby curtains and blinds and needs a good dusting. 3) The garden could be cute but seems semi abandoned - needs a good rake and weed and sweep. 4) The metal chairs are too rusty to sit on. Basically, a pleasant enough property could be an excellent property with some hard work done on it. For the same price, we could stay in a clean smart motel in Nelson, and that is what we shall do in future.

This property was quaint and close to town, which was great because we didn't have a vehicle but there was a bit of a hill to walk up so a level of fitness and good shoes would be recommended.

This was just what the listing said, a character bach in the grounds of a historic villa in the old section of Nelson that rises behind the cathedral. Compact and tidy, the accommodation was just what one or two people would want for a short holiday.
