Summary:
Our beautifully renovated 18th-century Paradise Farmhouse on Aquidneck Island combines comfort and functionality within a spectacular setting. The Farmhouse, which sleeps 12 and includes an expansive lawn overlooking the 300 acre Norman Bird Sanctuary nature preserve, offers a unique location for nature vacation retreats and special occasion gatherings. We are only 1/4 mile from the closest beach & a 10-min drive to Newport.

The Space:
The Paradise Farmhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places. This 6,000 square foot structure has six bedrooms (2 rooms with full size beds, 1 bunk room for 6 and 3 of the bedrooms can be set up with either 1 king or 2 twin beds). All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms (1 with a full bath and 5 with showers and 2 additional bathrooms on first floor). The Farmhouse is nicely appointed and provides overnight accommodations with a well equipped kitchen, 2 dining areas, 7 decorative fireplaces, 3 common/living rooms and a nicely furnished terrace for a maximum of 12 overnight guests. The house also includes central heat/AC, all bed linens and bathroom towels, Farmaesthetics 100% natural handmade herbal skincare products, and green cleaning supplies. For week-long rentals, 1 mid week cleaning service can be arranged at an additional cost. Also, if interested, add on an NBS educational program, a Guided Bird Hike by an NBS Naturalist or a Private chef/catering which is available upon request at an additional cost. Please note, since we are surrounded by nature and gorgeous beaches, the house does not have any TVs; but it does have WiFi.
A community fee of $65 will be added to every booking, which includes a 1-year membership fee to Norman Bird Sanctuary for the primary guest.
An additional agreement is required to be signed for all bookings.

Guest Access:
This is the perfect house for nature loving/eco-conscious families, friends and companies to explore our beautiful hiking trails and island beaches. Or choose to incorporate birding, guided nature walks, nature day camps for the children or off-site excursions. Rental includes entire farmhouse, terrace, driveway and lawn with water views.

Other Things to Note:
Paradise Farmhouse is a part of the Norman Bird Sanctuary, a nonprofit organization that maintains the largest contiguous open space in Newport County. Established in 1949 at the bequest of naturalist/artist Mabel Norman Cerio, the Norman Bird Sanctuary, under the charge of her will, was founded to maintain the land “for the propagation, preservation, and protection of birds, and where birds and bird life may be observed, studied, taught, and enjoyed by lovers of nature and by the public generally so interested in a spirit of humanity and mercy.”

The NBS mission is to spark people's curiosity to explore, steward, and find peace and joy in nature. With over 300 acres of diverse habitat, 7 miles of hiking trails and robust educational programming for adults and children, its mission remains true to Mabel Norman Cerio’s original vision.

As an active, community-based non-profit, we may occasionally be hosting events at Norman Bird Sanctuary property during your stay. We also have summer camps and other outdoor programming. The rental includes the entire farmhouse, private terrace and lawn, however, please note that there may be some noise from the surrounding property, as well as additional vehicles from NBS events that may abut the farmhouse property. We ask if you feel this may be an issue during your stay, to call us to discuss logistics and event dates. Most guests love the events and all are welcome to attend the public NBS gatherings!

Interaction with Guests:
The Farmhouse Guest Services Manager and the staff at Norman Bird Sanctuary are available to give you and your group ideas, referrals and recommendations on things to do and places to see while visiting the area. We also encourage you to visit our website and check us out on social media for all upcoming programs and guided walks available through the Norman Bird Sanctuary. Please feel free to ask, as we have plenty of insider suggestions to make your trip a memorable one and we are happy to help.

The Norman Bird sanctuary and Paradise farm House worked out perfectly for our son‘s wedding in Newport. Being from Wisconsin and summering in door County wi . It gave us a feeling of home too . The farm house was especially nice for the groomsmen to get ready ready there . Grounds as well as the restoration of the property/farmhouse is exceptional for family gathering . The only element guests need to be aware of is the rooster in the garden and shortage of dish towels for the kitchen . Overall Fun was had by all thank you .

This farmhouse is aptly named...Paradise! The old charm combined with fresh new amenities on a gorgeous expanse of land is just picturesque and perfect! Everything was in perfect order and so right for our whole family including my 85 year old parents and my siblings and our older children. We could all be together in the same home for a family weekend wedding in Newport.

This has become our second home for our annual family gathering. We first chose it because it was equidistant for folks coming from NY, MA, NH . . . but it is so much more than that! The 6000-feet of space is perfect for our half dozen kids, who love the bunk room and all the hiding places to be found. The large dining area is perfect for the big meals we cook, and each bedroom is its own oasis. Trails, the beach, the views--everything is ready for you to have a visit that builds memories.

We traveled to Rhode Island as a family group of 12 (ages 11- 82) and so enjoyed this charming and truly special home. It was clean and comfortable and fit us all in with ease. The amenities were closer to those of a hotel than a rental home with the bathrooms full of fluffy towels and delightful local soap, lotion, and shampoo. The huge dining room was especially wonderful, and the kitchen was well stocked and easy to work in. We cooked a ton during our stay. We got mostly clouds, drizzle, and grey skies, but the beauty of the area shone through, and we enjoyed the property, trails, and surrounding towns. It is a historic, somewhat delicate house, however, so maybe not the best fit for those with toddlers or younger kids.

Paradise Farmhouse is a charming, practical house in a spectacular setting. We particularly appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, the ample dining room, the quiet bedrooms, and the ocean view (in winter!). Our family had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas here! We look forward to returning in warmer months when we can take better advantage of the outdoor opportunities.

We had a great time! The Farmhouse is clean and beautiful. The rooms are large and each one has it's own bathroom. There is a great yard with an amazing view. Beautiful short walking trails around. Would definitely come back!

Beautiful, expansive property offering room for all to sleep w bathrooms in every bedroom, plenty of room to cook, dine, entertain in this historic, well maintained, comfortable house. The property consists of acres and acres of trails leading to all kinds of adventures w lots of wildlife, beaches, pond and more. Our family consists of 13 members ranging in age from 72 to 9 most, with others visiting at times. We were all comfy and happy w plenty of room to spread out for privacy or communal dining, visiting, etc. Highly recommend this hidden gem.
