Waterfront Cottage and Guest House on Big Platte Lake Near Sleeping Bear Dunes!

Clean and comfortable place on the lake with beautiful views and endless recreation close by.

The cabin was very clean and spacious. It was conveniently located to hiking trails. The listings of hiking trails, restaurants and other attractions was extremely helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely cottage. Very spacious, peaceful and relaxing. Loved reading on the deck in the morning while watching the fog lift off of the lake. And, I enjoyed listening to my husband play the piano also overlooking the lake. Stars were bountiful and amazing - and, I actually saw a falling star one night. Very easy to communicate with the owner thru VRBO and he was very responsive. Look forward to returning again soon!!

Lovely cottage on Big Platte Lake. Close to town and various attractions. My husband and I, and our two dogs, were very comfortable in the roomy cottage. Loved that there was a nice entry-way with hooks to hang dog gear and get them in and out easily. Would love to come back for a longer stay.

My husband and I were hoping to have a few days away to relax and rest from several years of steady doctor appointments.From the first moment we stepped into the cottage until the last moment when we reluctantly drove away, there was a sense of quiet and serenity!! We cannot thank Stephen enough for sharing his beautiful spot in God's creation with us. It was truly peaceful and lovely and we were able to relax and rest even better than we had hoped. The cottage was perfectly set up, the bed was comfortable and the chairs on the porch overlooking the lake were so comfortable. Thank you so much for giving us our hope of a peaceful stay.Stephen was very easy to communicate with and checked to see if all was well during our stay.

Beautiful spot!! Comfortable cottage and amazing views from the living room and deck. Excellent location for exploring Sleeping Bear and the Leelanau. Pet friendly on top of it all!The best.Check out the Baker’s Burrow for wonderful baked goods by the side of the road! Also recommending St Ambrose’s Meadery, fun place!

Was a phenomenal experience. The host was super attentive to make sure we were taken care of. Place was spotless and beautiful location on the lake. We even caught a few really nice fish!

A great place to unwind from a busy life. The location can’t be beat. The cottage is lovely and the owner does a great job of maintaining it.

The location was perfect for our stay and getting to/from Frankfort for the Ironman race. The views from the house and deck were amazing. And having a coffee grinder available for our whole bean coffee was a nice extra (and I think a first out of all the rentals we’ve stayed in).

A perfect place to relax. The view from the cottage is beautiful! The cottage was stocked with everything we needed. The owners were very responsive to any questions and provided detailed information regarding the property and things to do in the area. We would definitely stay here again!

Well appointed and provisioned lake front cottage. Perfectly suited for us and 2 dogs. The layout and condition were perfect for us. Great experience with host. Highly recommended - so much so we already booked our return!

We love staying at this cabin! Everything is perfect. The location doesn’t get any better and the owners take meticulous care of the cabins and property. We always feel comfortable staying here and appreciate the opportunity to rent!

The location is everything and only good thing! Gorgeous spot with easy access to dunes, rivers, and close to Frankfort. The lake is beautiful, easy to kayak from cottage to river. BUT…. The cottage was not as expected. Those are old photos. Different couches in there now, very worn leather loveseats, one has springs pushing up, 2 loveseats is not enough when 6 adults are visiting. There were NO twin beds. The house only has a queen bed and pull out sofa/loveseat. The 2nd “bedroom” is not in the house, it’s in a small outbuilding that is not sealed properly and filled with bugs so bad no one could sleep in it. The cottage wasn’t clean. Black mold blew out of the A/C unit all over the chairs and floor when we turned it on in the main cottage, big chunks of mold. I cleaned that up and wiped everything down. There were smashed pretzels and other food on the floor and couch. There were beads and broken plastic pens on floor. It was clearly not swept before we arrived. The sheets, pillows and extra comforter were stained. The chair cushions at the kitchen table were all stained with food. There was a contract from a previous guest laying on the kitchen table. The beach is also an old picture, what exists now is a small area of sand with overgrowth of grass. There are rodent traps all around the property, I get it this is a woodsy area but just be prepared to dispose of dead mice. Owner did not respond to my text about mold or lack of beds. Very disappointed and we left early.

Wow, this place is central to so many great spots. In one week we did so much around the area. My 2.5YO and 6YO loved the property. The water is shallow all the way out to the buoys. My 6 year old and wife walked out to the buoys 4x. My 2YO loved playing in the water but mostly loved digging in the beach on the property with all the provided toys & tools. The flower garden quickly became their scooter “race track” where they raced around loving life. One thing to watch for with the littles is the stairs and the open deck in back. Other than that, kids had a blast staying at the property. As a parent I loved that this place wasn’t full of breakable nic nacks and “lake life” ceramics like many lake rentals have. Favorite excursions:Peterson Beach where we were practically alone for hours. Platte River Pointe Beach was a HUGE win with our family. Float down a river that shoots you into Lake Michigan! Such a unique experience, beautiful beach and so cool to be able to step a few feet in warm river waters to frigid Great Lakes water. Using a provided bike I rode to one of the wetland areas near Peterson Beach, took photos & bird watched w/ binoculars. We did the dune climb, hiked Empire Bluffs, visited Frankfort, and went to Empire Beach(lots of playgrounds), and floated around on Platte Lake. We did a lot more, but the review is cutting me off. We enjoyed both exploring & staying at the cottage on Platte Lake. Would consider going back!

Ideal location for an 'Up North' getaway!. The weather did not cooperate, but there were so many other options for things to do! Cottage provided all the comforts of home plus the amenities of cottage life. Would definitely book again!

Everything was just as it appeared on the pictures online. The view and the sound of the water was so tranquil. The location is great for everything we wanted to do. Plenty of beautiful sights. We would come back again. Thanks to our host Stephen for opening up his beautiful lake house to share with others.

Cottage and guest house were very cute and well maintained. Perfect spot for the fur babies or littles if you have. I would highly recommend.

I loved this placed, it is beautiful! The host is great, excellent communication! The moon over the lake was magical. Perfect size to relax in or have some family over. Close to a lot of great things to do. This is my family home area and you are in for a wonderful treat of paradise to experience!!

We had an amazing weekend stay over Mother's Day weekend. It was also my mother's birthday--so we were happy to just absorb the space, the water and made some great meals! The cottage is adorable, the water is so clear, the fire-pit provided two nights of watching the sunset and the moon rise---it was an absolutely gorgeous spot. We were so glad that we had gotten groceries so we didn't have to leave!! We know the area pretty well, but Stephen provided a thorough restaurant and activity guide that would have been super helpful if we stayed longer---but seriously, we didn't want to go anywhere! Stephen was so responsive--reaching out before, during and after. We were already planning on when to come back as we were packing up---lovely spot!

The property was just as described. Very clean and easy to find. The location was absolutely perfect. We were able to explore Honor and the surrounding areas every day. Our dogs loved the lake and they were able to relax and have a great time as well. The host, Stephen, was amazing! He called to check on our arrival and was very prompt at responding to all my questions!! Thank you for opening your home to us!! We really enjoyed our stay!!

The place was clean and stocked with all of the necessary amenities. Stephen’s communication and accommodation were exceptional. The location cannot be beat, with proximity to say many attractions and of course beautiful Platte Lake right out the front door!

Came for girls weekend to run the race. It was a beautiful weekend with great views. Thankful for our amazing host for calling and making sure everything was great. Highly recommend staying.

Great property, location and beach. My only suggestion would be to have more comfy couches and some brighter lighting. But, we will be back. It was a great getaway.

Beautiful property, back from the road but close to the lake. Loved it!

My husband and I love northern Michigan and wanted to get away near Sleeping Bear Dunes. We found this property and booked a 3 day stay. We had a fantastic time! The home was clean and well stocked and the bed was very comfortable. The view from every vantage point was gorgeous! We rented a pontoon boat from a local marina that the host recommended and had a blast out on the lake. We hiked the trails to Lake Michigan and were blown away by the beauty of the trails and the lake itself. I wish we had booked a longer stay because it was just perfect. We will definitely be back!
