South Hero, Vermont
Incredible find for your family lakefront vacation. Enjoy your coffee in the morning in the privacy of our wraparound porch while ducks practice their morning maneuvers. Spend the day biking on the Champlain bikeway, access from driveway, or just hang out on the natural sun baked limestone at the water's edge, steps from the house. 250 ft of private lakefront. Shallow entry with a small stretch of rocks leads to a full sandy bottom beach.
Minutes to petting zoo, fresh vegetable markets, Snow Farm Vineyards, Allenholm Farm maple cremees and Seb's famous french fries. 2 miles to everything you need including fine dining at The Blue Paddle. 25 minutes to downtown Burlington.

We absolutely loved our week in this charming cottage. Time with family, playing croquet, cribbage, kayaking, walking, biking and eating from the local farmers were just some of the highlights. We sat on the porch and enjoyed fabulous sunsets waterside. Could not have asked for more. Simply stunning. Thank you. Tomasen
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our week stay! Everything exceeded our expectations. Deb and Andrew were always quick to respond to our questions. The atmosphere was so calming and peaceful; sitting in the rocking chair looking out over the lake with a cup of coffee was the perfect way to begin each morning. We look forward to returning!
This is a perfect cottage on the lake for a family vacation. The location in South Hero is tranquil and also still close to any of the wonderful local amenities and attractions that this part of the island offers. The water was delicious and we took full advantage of it - swimming, using the kayak and paddle board. As has been said in other reviews - beautiful sunsets, and very very peaceful. About the cottage - it is a camp cottage so anyone wanting thick carpeting and sound proof rooms should look elsewhere. This is what we loved about it! And anything you might need is EXACTLY placed where and when it occurs to you that you need it. Such a perfect use of space and efficiency. Would love to go back!
Great location. Right on Lake Champlain. Rustic feel camp with full service kichen and front porch with sunset views. Feels remote but easy access to gas/groceries etc in South Hero and 30 minutes to downtown Burlington.
We loved the views of the lake and the Adirondacks, from the yard and bedroom windows. Deb and Andy have everything together for you to have a fantastic time. Kayak, paddleboards, cornhole, fireplace, firepit. And much more. We loved that it's an easy bike ride to South Hero and the Snow Farm Vineyard. Not to mention the causeway to Burlington. Check out the trail that runs from Tracy Road down to White's Beach. The Blue Paddle was a fantastic place for dinner, and we went to McKee's Pub 3 times. Fun! I can't imagine a better place to explore Grand Isle. Did I mention that the sailing in our Hobie Cat was wonderful? Valcour, Sawyer and Crab Islands, Cumberland Head, , over to Mallett's Bay, you can't beat it!
Very relaxing week spending time on the deck in rocking chairs watching birds, boats, and sunsets. Easy drive to Burlington, MT Eagle, Mt Philo, etc. Also had a day adventure to Ausable Chasm across the ferry just up the street. Lots of fun and we barely scratched the surface of things to do in this area.
A return to this beautiful old place but to different weather! 3 REALLY hot days, 2 cool to cold days and 2 just right days gave us a chance to see how perfectly equipped Summer House is!! A fan in every room, windows that all work, and even heat for the morning in the 40's. Gorgeous sunsets that made the excellent TV ALMOST superfluous. The best corn we ever tasted from Goulet farm stand. When a drain was clogged, Andy came and blew it out and also exchanged grills with us when we admitted that ours was on its last legs. We had a wonderful time together!
What a fantastic week we had! The house and location are amazing. Off the beaten path yet not too far from route 2 for quick essentials from Keeler’s Variety store, Seb’s snack bar, or a farm stand. The house is so charming - cozy and rustic yet also super clean with modern conveniences. Nice open kitchen, dining and LR area. We enjoyed the front porch and fire pit for AM coffee and PM cocktails. The view and sunsets are quite beautiful. Barnes bay is quiet with the occasional boat, kayak or paddle board gliding by. Great waterfront area for lounging, swimming and water toy fun. The lake is clean and clear although a bit shallow around the shorelines - easy in and out for the kids. Overall we had the best time. Lots to do and see in the area yet serene and peaceful Vermont at its best! Thanks to Deb for being a perfect hostess. We will return for sure!
The house was the perfect balance between rustic camp and well appointed lake house. We had 6 adults, 3 kids, and a dog and had plenty of space with room to spare. Beds and bedrooms were very comfortable even on hot days and evenings. Our 10 year old twin boys claimed the best sleeping accommodations for the week - the sleeping porch! The front porch was perfect for relaxing at all hours of the day. Amazing sunsets doesn’t begin to describe the evening light show… The bay provided endless fun filled paddle boarding and kayaking as well as a place to moor our 20 foot I/O safely all week. The dog spent hours swimming and fetching as well. The flat rocks lakeside serve as a great water level patio too! Deb and Andrew are fantastic hosts and owners. The house and property are well cared for. Definitely on the short list of places to return to!
This house has it all. Beautiful lake views , direct access to swimming and paddle boarding, relaxing on the hammock or on the porch! It has a comfortable feel inside and out and is a short drive to downtown Burlington. It can host a big group comfortably. Everything was clean and made easy. Highly recommended!
