Sol Spa Oasis - Surfdale Holiday Home

Let me start by saying the actual property was fine. Fittings and fixtures were all good but it is being managed by a third party. This is where the problems start. We were traveling around NZ when the cyclone hit and I was trying to confirm that this property was still good and I never heard back. The day of our booking I got an email that I had to create another account on bachcare to get the info needed to check in. I wasn’t able to do so until I paid a $40 balance that I had no clue where it came from. Then, once inside, the only info given was via QR code. I go on holiday to disconnect- not create new logins and scan this and that. I’m assuming the additional fee I was charged was for linen which I think is ridiculous as well. I’ve travelled all over the world and never had to pay for linens when renting a home. All of this and proper maintenance isn’t even being done. The bathroom had dusty floors, a moldy shower, the cutlery drawer was FILTHY and we were given an old, used sponge for washing dishes. I’m sure Bachcare makes things easier for the owner, but as a guest- it was a terrible experience. Be warned!

We celebrated our son’s 11th birthday. It was a lovely Bach, the scenery was breathtaking. The hot spa was the cherry on the cake. Looking forward to our next visit.

We loved the location. The house was clean, updated, warm (with a heat pump) and tidy. The spa pool and views were amazing. Main bedroom was comfy. Second bedroom had a double/single bunk. However, double bed under was a tight squeeze with the head room and ladder at one end of the bed. Bathroom was clean and large. Large enough to accommodate another shelf unit. We would suggest instructions for how to access TV channels. Could not get TV Box to work. Our stay was 4 nights. After asking for the access to a washing machine, we finally had access on our last day there. For next visitors, I suggest that they tell the guests where the key for washing machine is. We found drying clothes an issue due to the time of year that we were there. Would suggest a drying rack for winter visitors. I would recommend this stay to others.

Bach care must be the most useless people we have ever had the displeasure of attempting to deal with. View was amazing, however, curtain was hanging off the rail, dust all over the dining table, 1 towel each for 3 nights, spa pool was filthy and on the second night the button to turn it off became faulty and it ended up been on for over 48 hours right out my room. Dirty dishes, My mum and I paid for linen so expected both rooms to be made up however only one was made up. Tried calling bach care 4 times about the spa issues left messages / emailed and got no response to anything. Also notified the owner through book a Bach and heard nothing from them either. House was ok but won’t be going back. For the money we paid it was a little disappointing.

The property is modern and cozy, the garden was our favourite part; beautifully decorated and with amazing views to the sea. Very relaxing weekend at Sol Spa Oasis, we would totally love to be back.

Hmm, this is the second review i've filled out for this property - i'm confused whether this was with Stayz, BachCare or a company called HomeAway who charged me $85 for some reason

We had a very tranquil stay at Surfdale. This Bach ticked all the boxes. The stunning clifftop cottage garden hummed with Tui and Fantails. The view out over the sea saw us sitting in the spa pool watching a pod of dolphins cavorting in the bay below. The location is perfect for a quick 5 min drive to the Ostend markets or to Palm Beach.
