Lo Gorro Gite:

In the parkland grounds of an old stone farmhouse, perched above the Vezere river, this gite is ideally located for exploring the Dordogne and Vezere valleys.

Interior:

The gite comfortably sleeps up to 6 people. On the ground floor there is a light, open plan kitchen, dining and living area with views of the grounds and Vezere valley. This opens onto a private garden terrace. There is also a downstairs bathroom with a bath/shower and toilet. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, one twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, The master bedroom has a private roof terrace with wonderful views of the Vezere river and surrounding sunflower fields. There is also a further shower room with a separate toilet.

Please note that the stairs may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.

Outside:

Immediately outside the gite is a small private garden and BBQ area. This comes complete with a table, chairs and sun umbrella for alfresco dining.

There are stone steps down from this garden to a larger garden with private pool which is fenced for security. The property also offers a good range of games including table tennis, badminton, and boules. For younger children there is also a garden slide and some swings.

Surrounding Area:

There is so much to do here it is difficult to know where to start. The walking here is wonderful, and even on the hottest days the woodland walks provide plenty of shade. There is a beautiful riverside walk to the nearby village of St Leon sur Vezere, which takes about 40 minutes. In St Leon are some lovely riverside cafes and bars, along with a small number of arts and craft shops. It is a popular destination for the many canoeists making their way down the Vezere river. We would also recommend a visit to the world famous Lascaux caves, which are only ten minutes away in Montignac. They are suitable for visitors of all ages. A visit here gives you an appreciation of just how far the human race has come over the last 20,000 years. If none of this is for you, you can always relax by the pool with a book.

Rustic cottage in a hamlet of old stone buildings above the River Vezere and surrounded by countryside. Well-equipped. Warm welcome from the host. Lovely private garden and swimming pool, though the weather was too cool to use it! Might not suit someone with mobility issues due to narrow steep stairs and steps. Great base for exploring the Dordogne. Nearby Montignac is charming.

Claire-Louise and Bruce and daughter Verity were gracious and friendly hosts. The property is perfect for those who want a quiet place ideally located in the Dordogne. Clean. Lots of lovely outdoor and indoor spaces to relax in. Beautiful pool. Rooftop deck on which to grab some rays or just stargaze Will definitely book again. Five stars all the way for us. There were steep stairs to the bedrooms in our unit that could be daunting for some so be sure to inquire if that might be a problem for you. It was not for us.

Our family fell in love with Claire Louise and Bruce’s property the moment we arrived. Such a beautiful part of France and their home is a little paradise. We have moved on to another part of France this week, the house is lovely , the pool great but we all miss Sergeac a little bit. Thank you both for a special time in our life.

The accomadation was great and in beautiful setting. The amenties for kids were particulaurly good with the pool and playroom. The surronding area has plenty of thing to do and see, 1 week was not long enough.
