Our 3rd time staying on Long Island. We have grown to love the beautiful sister cottages and the Island as well as the people we’ve met there. You cannot beat the view at either cottage, Whistling Duck or Passionate Pelican. Violet is always available to help with anything you may need and even picked up a loaf of homemade bread that my husband loves from Erica’s Bakery right around the corner from the cottage. He buys a loaf every day from her while we are there. You can swim in the water right behind the cottage and there are kayaks for use if you like. The air conditioner in the bedroom blows really cold air and the king size bed was perfect. Best vacation ever! Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!

The Passionate Pelican was the perfect stay. Ordinarily, the Atlantic side is choppy and difficult for swimming and water activities. However, the barrier islands surrounding Lochabar Beach meant very calm waters in the Bay. It's close to several restaurants and of course, Erica's Bakery in Clarence Town. Sitting on the deck (or even laying in bed) provides beautifully blue ocean views and we enjoyed our coffee every morning while watching the sunrise. We also enjoyed the cool breezes at night time before retiring. The size was perfect for the two of us. Violet (the property manager) was quick to communicate and even let us know what time the scheduled power outages were happening which helped us plan. Apparently, a transformer had blown somewhere on the island power grid. So, they were load sharing between settlements until a new part arrived. Bottom line - it was a perfect get away.

What a find! Fairly-modern 2-room rental home (along with it's sister house, Whistling Duck) is located just a few concrete steps from the clean warm shallow waters of Lochabar Beach, 5 minutes drive south of Clarence Town. The roads are mostly paved until just before you reach the house; gated property but only to keep the local goats from wandering in, the neighborhood is incredibly quiet and safe. Lovely property with landscaping and separate parking areas for each house, sufficient privacy between the buildings, doesn't feel over-crowded. Separate water access for each house plus kayaks, lounge chairs, beach chairs. Must climb stairs to access house. The house is in good shape, sturdy lock, great air flow when windows are open, the AC in the bedroom keeps things nice and cool all night. Water pressure is terrific in indoor and outdoor showers, gets nice and hot. They ask you to conserve water supply, but we never felt we were running low on water for dishes bathing etc. Really nice Roku TV in bedroom with DVD player (HDMI). The Wi-Fi is amazingly fast, no trouble for video conferencing and uploading videos to YouTube and streaming movies. Mattress is king sized and so comfy! Really nice quality towels and linens. Plenty of dresser drawers, storage space. So peaceful and quiet at night, no traffic noise... No roosters crowing in the morning! We slept great. The curtains are a bit thin so you will get sunlight in your face in the mornings, use a sleep mask if needed.

This is our second time returning to Long Island, Bahamas and staying at Peter & Pam's place. They provide a great welcome packet to help explore the island and are great to communicate with if any questions arise. We loved Passionate Pelican, the views from the balcony to start and end our day were amazing. Home is well stocked, clean and comfy! We enjoyed the double kayak to explore, seeing rays, fish, lemon sharks and turtles. Would highly recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed.

This cottage is in a perfect location to explore the south part of Long Island. Owners Peter and Pam were welcoming when we arrived, gave a thorough explanation of the facilities and were available to answer questions throughout. The cottage is well stocked for cooking and enjoying the water, with kayaks and beach chairs. The sea a few feet down a walkway is wonderful for swimming and there are many great beaches nearby.

Passionate Pelican is a small beautiful cottage w/ an INCREDIBLE view of the blue water at low tide! Owner Peter was helpful in providing tips for area by email & Violet was nice & accommodating giving the keys. Ample room for couple but note there are only 3 rms: combo living room/kitchen, bathroom, & air-conditioned bedroom. Another bathroom on lower level w/outside entrance. We stayed early Sept - very hot, but nice cool breeze on the balcony, so heat wasn't a problem indoors. Seems in Sept, the bugs aren't bad as I expected. I don't think they like breeze so had NO problem w/biting bugs. Amazing stargazing on balcony, we saw the huge Starlink satellite which freaked us out a little until I looked it up & knew what it was! Beach area in front of cottage seemed safe at low tide, went WAY out & could stand for most of it. Crystal clear water, warm as bath water! We snorkeled to left of the property where it's rockier & by Lochabar blue hole (scary looking!), saw some cool fish in those areas. Kayak worked well low tide, not so well high tide - big change in the water. Glad we didn't try to make it to the islands in the distance! Sept is offseason, saw very few people. Some restaurants close. Clarence Town was ghost town. Beautiful quiet relaxing vacation in paradise! Recommend boat tour (we used Big V Adventures) & Hamilton's Cave. Don't rely on BahamasAir to keep your flight time - we had to stay an extra night in Nassau due to changes. Locals said to take a ferry instead.

Home has a spectacular view and amazing beach in front of the house. Violet was extremely helpful and changed her schedule to help us get into the house. She also gave us a lot of tips on where to go/what to do as it was our first trip to Long Island. Location was great on the south end of the island, near the marina and about 30 miles from Gordon's Beach which was beautiful. Would definitely recommend staying here particularly for a party of 2.
