The region

Porlock is a historic village on the edge of Exmoor National Park in Somerset, in a sheltered vale between the moor and the Bristol Channel coast. Its heritage stretches back to Saxon times.

The meandering High Street is lined with independent shops, including a traditional butcher, chemist, hardware shop, post office, two convenience stores, art galleries, a chocolate shop, and a cash machine. Most shops keep hours of 9am to 5pm, often extending during the summer season.

The harbour hamlet of Porlock Weir is approximately one mile to the west and makes a lovely walk or a short drive. There you will find a 15th-century tidal harbour, a pub, restaurants, cafes, and independent shops and galleries.

Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles away. Here you will find larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrisons on the outskirts with longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, and a range of other shops. EV charging points are available at Porlock Central Car Park.

This is a recently updated apartment which has been modified to a very high standard. It is perfect as a base for two people to enjoy Porlock and surrounding area. This property also has a private parking space and as someone who has visited Porlock on a few previous occasions I cannot overstate what a benefit this was. Once again the property as a whole contributed to another wonderful holiday in this lovely area.

Cottage was clean and had everything that we needed, private parking was a bonus! We loved that we didn't need to use the car once during our stay. There were so many footpaths straight from the cottage that we may need to come again to try some more of them.

This is a great property in a perfect location. We will be recommending to anyone thinking of staying in this area. After a hard days walking it was ideal to come back to either to enjoy the local hospitality (amazing pies at the chippy) or just crash and relax.

This is the second time this year that we have stayed in this property and once again it was excellent. The property is very clean, furnished to a high standard and the parking space is an added bonus. Porlock is a lovely place to stay and Overstream provides an ideal place for two people to stay and enjoy this beautiful part of the world.

We have stayed at the Overstream many times when it was a guest house but the apartment is lovely, so cosy and well decorated, the shower is to die for, lovely little patio and very secure parking, we will be going back.

Wonderful accomodation in every respect. Excellent attention to detail to make our stay very comfortable. The property provides a good centre to explore the area. Good value for money in comparison with other properties that had ridiculously increassed prices at the end of lockdown. Thank you we hope to return again
