Stayed Jun 15, 2024My husband and I stayed for a week last summer and enjoyed it so much we returned this summer. The property has a great location and is well maintained. The view of the lake is wonderful- we didn’t turn on the TV even once while we were here but enjoyed sitting outdoors or in the large living room. It was warm enough this year that we could enjoy swimming from the shore (rocky so you will want shoes but very clean). We bring a 19 foot boat for fishing and there is plenty of room for it and our truck in the driveway. We like to eat out and there are plenty of restaurants between Rouses Point and Chazy.

Stayed Apr 6, 2024First, I'll start by saying that the host, Pam, is one of the most wonderful people I've ever met in my 50 years on this planet. She opened up her cottage to me and my family so we could have a front row seat to the eclipse. She normally doesn't rent this early in the season, but she made an exception for us after speaking on the phone. When my family met her at check-in, we chatted like we've been friends for years. She's just great!!! Now to the location..... Nevermind how adorable the town Rouses Point is.... Her spot on Lake Champlain is on a peninsula with stunning sunsets. I wish I could post all of the pictures we took. The location is close to Plattsburgh and any amenities you'd want, but far enough away to completely relax. It's also a quick ride to Montreal and Burlington. The actual cottage is so comfy and cozy. Pam had it ready with everything stocked up. The place is immaculate and you feel like you belong there. The wall of windows overlooking the lake is perfect. She's has an awesome gas grill, fire pit with wood, gorgeous gazebo with screens and a door, nice deck on the lake, etc. She also has a few TV's with cable and WiFi. Once again, rent from Pam and experience the north country at it's best!!! Pam....Thank you again for such a a wonderful vacation spot.

Stayed Jun 3, 2023The cottage is in a great location with beautiful sunsets from the living room. The cottage is small but was very spacious for 4 adults with plenty of seating areas. The owner keeps the property in pristine condition and supplies everything you could possibly need. She was available by phone and made sure we had everything we needed but was not intrusive. It was too cold to swim but the rocky beach looked very inviting. We all loved the property and could have stayed for weeks. My husband and I are already planning to return. Rouses Point is 10 minutes away and has plenty of restaurants and a pharmacy as well as a public boat launch. Other convenient boat launches are Great Chazy River (10 minutes away) and Point au Roche (about 25 minutes away but gives you quick access to the Gut for fishing). I cannot think of anything negative about this property.

Stayed Jul 24, 2021My family and I had a great week at west winds cottage - the hosts thought of everything! It was exceptionally clean inside and beautiful outside. We enjoyed the kayaks and watching sunsets on the lake, and using the fire pit for s’mores. Close enough for short trips to Plattsburgh, saint albans and Burlington - if you need a break from the lake. Lots of wineries in the area too! We loved this spot and hope to come back next year.

Stayed Jun 26, 2021My (almost) month long stay at West Winds Cottage was my first VRBO experience. My first impressions included how spacious the cottage felt, the overall tidiness and cleanliness, how bright it was with so many windows (especially those facing the lake), and how well-stocked everything was - from spices to dishes and cookware to kayaks and life preservers and everything in between! During the stay, Pam and Russ were wonderful - not intrusive, but communicative and quickly responsive to any inquiry. By the end of my stay, their genuine warmth made them feel like extended family. The sunsets were the icing on the cake!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We have stayed here 3 times. Pam and Russ are excellent hosts. The house/location provides the perfect recipe for a great location. Excellent fishing off the dock or on the kayak. Screened gazebo is definitely a plus. Sunsets are beautiful. The cove that the property is on provides some shelter when the lake water is rough so if you have little ones this is definitely a plus. Day trips to Burlington, Montreal, saint Albans and Plattsburgh provide good variety to the vacation.
