Stayed Jan 23, 2026I was looking for quiet and to be away from the hustle and bustle .... And this place was perfect. The home is comfortable and quiet, the town is adorable, and Mike & Junko are amazing hosts. Everything about this place was perfect .... Covered outdoor space, comfortable beds and seats, full kitchen, and the NICEST people.

Stayed Nov 18, 2025Had great instructions afrom Mike- and met him briefly. We have family near by and come to Haiku often. I loved being walking distance to a market with fresh poke made daily - Nuka-.a superb sushi and jdoenese restaurant - an excellent gym - Colleen’s restaurant -!and short drives to great beaches and hikes. Definitely coming back.

Stayed Feb 18, 2025The pictures don't do the cottage justice. It is very charming, and well equipped. We d very little cooking, but the kitchen has everything - including a coffee grinder. We enjoyed watching the chickens that cruise in and out of the backyard, although we could have done without the chorus of neighborhood roosters (early wakeup call). It helped when we closed the windows when they started up. We really liked the Haiku area, and the cottage is easy get to, yet secluded. We would definitely return.

Stayed Apr 19, 2024We’ve been to Maui many times, usually staying in the west end and sometimes adding a few days in Hana. We love those spots, but thought we’d try a new area, mostly to leave Lahaina in peace to heal and begin to rebuild. So this was our first time staying in Haiku. We enjoyed all the upcountry areas, Haleakala, and the north coast. What a beautiful setting! The house was wonderful. Clean as can be, with everything needed and more. The house was thoughtfully designed and organized for hosting guests. We felt comfortable and well taken care of, with every convenience provided and many extras. We loved having our own beautiful and cozy house rather than the typical condo stay. The pictures are accurate, but we thought the house felt bigger than it looks in the photos, and more separate from the second guest house. And the two houses are on their own lane and lot, not in some one’s back yard, which is what we expected when we booked it. Location is super convenient, with a grocery store, restaurants, and more just down the block. We tossed the beach chairs, towels, and ice chest with lunch into our rental car and took off each morning. Our favorite thing was roaming the back roads. We browsed through Makawao and Paia with plenty of time to enjoy them, rather than just passing through on the way to Haleakala or Hana. Yet heading to both Haleakala and Hana was great with Haiku as a convenient launching point. Thank you so much for having us! We hope to come back.

Stayed Jul 23, 2023My son and I stayed here after camping for two nights and the Hoku cottage had everything we needed-clean, fast WiFi, nice design, walkable location, cozy, and very inviting. The backyard lawn is one of my favorite parts. I had my parents over for dinner one night and it was spacious enough to host and cook dinner.
