Lovely and warm cottage with electric under blankets! Surrounded by peaceful greenery and bird sounds in the morning. Overall a nice cosy stay!

Fireplace not required, kitchen good, everywhere clean and plenty to read. Host friendly and helpful.

This was the cutest accomodation. It was comfortable and so full of character. We had everything we needed and the surroundings were so peaceful. I just loved staying here. I hope we can return and stay longer.

The Stables is a beautiful old brick building that has been brilliantly converted into a bach. The interior has lots of natural wood and homely atmosphere that makes it a great place to relax in, even in bad weather... Great kitchen facilities and comfy beds. Very helpful host as well.

This was our 2nd stay in this unique bach. Very well equipped kitchen. Cozy bedroom and lounge area upstairs. Enjoyed wandering the lovely nursery grounds, especially private as they are closed during the week. Great access to Otaki Forks, Otaki Beach...and outlet shopping!

Had a lovely stay for 2 nights, thank you hosts. Area is so quiet, a lovely private spot. Minor issue was no oven, so cooking pizza was a bit challenging :-) but we managed. Heads up... the staircase is a bit tricky if you're not too mobile. Setting these aside, would certainly stay again, and recommend it if you're looking for a quiet place away from the madding crowd.

Such a delightful stay! So cosy with the fire on, well stocked with firewood, had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook all our meals. No wifi which was so nice to unplug. Nice and private to have our own space out of sight of the rest of the property. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away :)

This is the second time we stayed and we were just as pleased. Lovely place in a beautiful wood, a short drive from the coast. We loved waking up to the sound of birdsong from our loft bedroom.

It was very enjoyable staying at The Stables - such a special place! Also, a highlight for me was checking out the native plant nursery (Talisman) on the property and being overwhelmed by the many very rare native plants. And I enjoyed wandering through the tracks of the arboretum in such peaceful surroundings. It's my second visit to The Stables. Thanks once again Karen.

Peaceful, beautiful setting with lovely hosts

We loved our time at this beautifully unique accomm. The Stables have been sensitively converted into something really special. Our view onto the Nursery's arboretum was stunning and Karen welcomed us to walk around their lovely property. Everything we could possibly need was provided. One of our days there we just stayed home and enjoyed the rainy day activities provided - jigsaw, puzzle books, cards, boggle, DVDs, books and magazines.It was easy to catch the train from Waikanae for the 1hr trip into Wellington.We highly recommend this accom. It is as gorgeous on the inside as it is on the outside.

Wow, such a beautiful place. Every detail restored mindfully and tastefully. A picture perfect secluded property to find tranquility The grounds were amazing, a lot of thought has been put into it. Felt like we were in a fairytale. Would have loved to known more about the restoration history/story.... previous pics etc. Look forward to revisiting again.
