When was the last time you unplugged from the madness and dove into nature No, really

Nestled into lush green forest an hour north of Wellington, Waitohu Lodge was built on the three Rs: relax, rejuvenate and revive.

There’s 2ha of Jurassic-like forest where the only sound is native birds and the breeze rustling the 100-year-old trees, a brand new 6m x 3m swimming pool to cool off in, a private bush-walk and stream where you can picnic and a stylishly renovated one-bedroom apartment (not surprising when one of your hosts writes for NZ House & Garden Magazine).

The space
Washing machine available on request
Coffee, tea and treats in room
Swimming pool (for guest use only)
Private bush walk on property with stream access
Must be dog friendly as there is a small dog on site

Beautiful presentation and very comfortable. A longer stay would have been great. Recommend it as a great home away from home.

A lovely quiet place in the country. A beautiful bush walk from the property to a gently flowing stream which was a perfect distance for an end of day stroll. The unit was very comfortable and the host had provided fresh fruit in a bowl to enjoy. A lovely touch. He was also very understanding about missed communication.

We spent our Christmas days in the thoughtfully styled bach of Martin and Sharon. It was very relaxing as it is just out of town. The little walk in the lush bush on the property made for a nice after-lunch stroll. An evening swim in the heated pool made it feel even more holiday like. We hadn't realised there was not stove, so cooking was the only small challenge. We had a recharging few days in Otaki and would definitely recommend a stay!

Lovely relaxing stay in front of the fire, yet accessible to the Matariki festival in Otaki. Lovely grounds to walk around.

Well thought out space, clean, spacious and cozy at the same time! Loved the bush walk behind the property, a lovely addition.
