Stayed Jan 1, 1We stayed in ‘Hedgehogs View’ for two nights, the location and view were second to none. The privacy of this specific accommodation was perfect as it’s at the top/back of the other ‘hobbit holes’ , so when using the hot tubs and walking around you’re not visible to anybody else. Our initial perspective was that the accommodation was beautiful , great facilities and well styled . Once we’d settled we noticed a lot of black mould spots in the main bedroom , above the bed area and dotted over the ceiling. The bed was extremely uncomfortable , with a very thin matress, the base of the bed being ply wood rather than slats/sprung slats which only accentuated the lack of thickness of the matress. A few little things that don’t work took the edge off the stay also, the bin lid didn’t work, and the mirrors that were supposed to light up in the bedroom/ bathroom didn’t. They stay gave us what we wanted/needed, being a space to relax with stunning views. But for the money I’m not sure I’d return as our sleep was very poor and the mould is something I feel should be addressed ASAP. As it is I’m unsure if I’d recommend based on the above comments.

Stayed Jan 1, 1I booked the hedgehogs view as a suprise to celebrate my husband's 50th. I was quite apprehensive about the size as although we were only a party of 4 and a dog, we do all value our own space. From the moment we pulled on to the drive we were amazed at the little Hobbiton village in mid Wales. There's a good amount of space inside the accommodation; nobody bumped their heads gandalf style. Everywhere was very clean and well kept. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean and had everything we needed. I have given a 4 for comfort as the beds were quite hard (that's only my opinion). I The views are amazing. If you get a clear night sit outside, the night sky is just as good as the day. I was wary when I discovered the goats were free to roam. Our dog was desperate to make friends with them but they weren't so willing but hey kept themselves out the way, just happily grazing. The Highland cows and 3 calves were a happy sight We went exploring the beautiful Elan Valley and its many picturesque dams. We went to the nearby village of Rhayader had dinner at the Crown which was lovely. Everything was beautiful and we will definitely return.

Stayed Jan 1, 1Myself, 4 girlfriends and 2 dogs very much enjoyed our stay at quirky hedgehog view. The outlook from the property onto the Welsh hills was gorgeous, and the hot tub was lovely. There are curious goats on the surrounding fields that visited us. The baby goats were very sweet! Thank you to Gemma for hosting us at Hedgehog view. She was on hand with a contact number for an emergency vet, when on of our dogs had eaten something he shouldn't have!

Stayed Jan 1, 1Water was only warm not hot so beautiful bath tub couldn't be used. Wifi wasnt working the first day and a half The qr code to scan for info didnt work and came up with an error. Hot tub chemicals way to strong and ruined partners bikini. Location was amazing and property was very clean.

Stayed Jan 1, 1Location and accommodation were fantastic. Hot tub under the stars in the snow was the icing on the cake for a birthday weekend. Just needed a few more kitchen utensils and glassware, my son wanted a pint glass to drink his Guinness

Stayed Jan 1, 1We had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed the little goats that came to the door — it was lovely to sit and watch them. We also enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while watching the red kite birds flying over the fields, which was a real highlight. That said, we feel there is some room for improvement. It would be helpful to have basic cleaning equipment such as a small mop. We also noticed black mould on the wall and curtains in the main bedroom and in the bedroom with the bunk beds. Overall, we did really enjoy our stay and are considering booking again in the future.

Stayed Jan 3, 1Hesgehog House is set in a beautiful location with truly splendid views, making it a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The site itself has no amenities, but having your own private hot tub was a real highlight and added to the experience. Unfortunately, cleanliness was an issue on arrival: we found cobwebs stretching from the ceiling to the top bunk in the smallest bedroom, and single-use plastic drink wrappers pushed down between the mattress and bed frame in the second double room. The closest town, Rhayader, is nearby and offers plenty of friendly pubs for food and drinks. The local community is welcoming, and there are lots of nature walks in the area, which was great for the dogs.

Stayed Jan 3, 1A wonderful way to experience the scenery. You are really in amongst it. Great to wake up and see the hills and the Kites circling in the sky. On our second day we had goats eating the grass outside our window which was a lovely surprise. Great accommodation and wonderfully quirky. The owner was very helpful too. Would highly recommend.

Stayed Jan 3, 1The accommodation is beautiful and quirky, lovely views from the round windows, the only thing that let it down for us was the bed, it was awful, so uncomfortable it needs a deeper mattress so you aren't bruising all the back of your legs on the wooden frame around it trying to get on and off and the wood underneath makes it feel like you are sleeping on concrete! The place is very very warm so if you are a cold person you will love it, but they do provide fans, nice to sit in the hot tub looking at the stars, and it is nice and private well thought out and not too close to the neighbours

Stayed Jan 1, 1What an absolute GEM. Booked for 2 nights as a birthday treat, it exceeded expectations. Everything was as described, the location stunning, everything you wanted was there. Loved the goats that came to visit. Will certainly return. Booking was very easy and kept in contact via e mail with all relevant information.

Stayed Jan 1, 1Hedgehog View was the perfect place for our girls weekend, the views are fantastic, as was the hot tub and we enjoyed a brief visit from the goats! The house is cozy and well equipped and the location was perfect for walks such as Elan Valley and Hafren Forest. Would 100% recommend!

Stayed Jan 1, 1Six of us stayed at Hedgehog View. We had a brilliant time. It is an absolutely charming holiday venue. It is cosy especially when the weather turned windy and rainy. We also had some little goat visitors. My only complaint would be the window coverage. The curtains don’t cover the windows fully and we would’ve preferred complete privacy. Other than that I would highly recommend

Stayed Jan 1, 1Beautiful location in the countryside, but close to all the amenities by car. Peaceful and cosy, it was so rainy and windy most of the weekend but we still had a lovely time and would visit again! The beds were comfy and the hot tub was lovely and warm.

Stayed Jan 1, 1We really loved our stay and highly recommend it. Views are stunning. The house is stunning. A couple of things to note, the fridge is very small if you’re planning on self catering and there is very little space to put your clothes etc. some additional hooks throughout would be super helpful. We were really gutted that the goats weren’t out during our stay. They were there when we arrived and we didn’t see them again for the remainder and they were one of the biggest draws of booking. Apart from that it really is an amazing place and also highly recommend going on a pony treck with Alice at Lion Royal trekking.

Stayed Jan 1, 1The property has novelty value and is in a beautiful location. Inside, the quality of the structure is impressive, and it was very clean. However, we felt that it was poorly equipped. All bedding was of high quality, but a couple of the mattresses were thin and worn. The smaller bedroom has no hooks for clothing. The bathroom has no toilet roll holder and the toilet paper was extremely cheap quality. In the kitchen, a towel rail is needed. A couple of wooden spoons are needed, oven glove, paper towel, etc. I appreciate that the architecture of the property makes it difficult to fit a fridge, but the one used is ridiculously small for a self-catering property.

Stayed Jan 1, 1We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay at hedgehogs view. Great location, Great surroundings. Only slight disappointment was we didn't realise there was a Motocross event on over the next field. Didn't bother us to much. The wild goats were great my daughter loved them. Would definitely stay here again. Weather depending.

Stayed Jan 3, 1We stayed at Hedgehog View, which is in a lovely, peaceful spot. However, the steep hill leading to the accommodation, combined with large potholes, makes access quite challenging—especially for your car! The accommodation itself was spotless on arrival and beautifully presented. The master bedroom is very spacious and features a lovely freestanding bath, though unfortunately, the bed was quite uncomfortable. The second bedroom is a decent size, but the beds are very small. The bunk bed room, on the other hand, is tiny and feels very claustrophobic if the door is closed. For a family of six, an extra toilet would have been a big help. The location is somewhat lacking in nearby amenities—there’s not much to do in the immediate area. The local Indian restaurant has closed down, and both pubs we tried were disappointing for food. This place feels more suited to an adult retreat rather than a family getaway. Despite these points, we did enjoy our stay overall and would consider booking again if the price was right.

Stayed Jan 3, 1Such a beautiful place, we only had two nights here but the accommodation was gorgeous and stylish. The views were amazing and being able to enjoy them from the hot tub or the outdoor seating area with a fire made it even better. The hairy cows and evening visit from the goats were the added factor! We needed a break and hedgehog’s view certainly delivered.

Stayed Jan 3, 1Our two nights at Hedgehog View will stay in our hearts for the rest of our lives, First of all the idyllic setting is just simply breathtaking. Hedgehog view itself is beautifully fitted out and is just gorgeous, All be it very very warm inside with no way of turning the seating down of off, Given the beauty that greets you out of both bedrooms patio doors under normal circumstances it would have been an easy fix to just leave the doors open to let the air circulate, but unfortunately due to multiple wasp nests situated in the surrounds to all three entrances and with my friend being allergic to wasps it meant that wasn’t possible, So made for a really warm night. We did make the hosts aware of this and they said a pest controller would be out during the day, So as we couldn’t stay there and chill because of the wasps we spent out, And on arriving back the issue seemed to have been sorted. The only other issue was that the hot tub was only partially working (only the jets on one half were working) That issue also got reported and someone did come out to look very promptly, but they said an engineer would need to be called, But unfortunately that wasn’t resolved during our short occupancy. They did say we could have access to a hot tub on a different plot that was empty at the time, But that was awkward and inconvenient. Other than those two issues that did arise the only negatives I could say are that the main door arch cladding and the master bedroom outside door arch cladding are both starting to crumble and this really does effect the aesthetic of the outside of the property, And at this price point you’d expect details like this to be high on the agenda as it really does effect the overall first impression (second impression actually as the initial impression was WOW this place is gorgeous) The only other thing is more of a suggestion, The views are absolutely stunning but the curtains do not provide full privacy due to the arch’s and the curtains not being able to be fully drawn across, Maybe it would be possible to attach Velcro to the sides of the curtains and the arches so that they can be manipulated into place to give 100% privacy when needed. I know this may seem like a negative review but I guess we were just really unlucky that during our short stay the wasp and hot tub issues occurred resulting in us not getting the full wonder that we could have. Because let’s face it, those views are to die for, being greeted by goats as sit on the patio eating breakfast was a joy, Watching the birds of prey over the close neighbouring fields was spectacular, Watching the cows come up the hill every morning, All the little birdies that come say hi……. It really is a truely wonderful place, For me it would have been a 10/10 all day long were it not for said issues, The hosts really were on the ball and did do all they could to resolve the issues, it’s just due to our stay only being short it meant said issues pretty much effected the whole stay. But that said I’d still give it a 8 because it is just simply WOW and could so easily have been a 10+++ :)

Stayed Jan 1, 1Hedgehogs view is perfect for a girl or romantic getaway. The location is stunning. Not much to do in the area, however sitting in the hottub and admiring the view is enough. The facilities are excellent, everything is easily accessible, and the accomodation itself is very private. Would highly recommend and deffo will be returning.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The bed has a wooden board all the way around it and the mattress was too small and too shallow so you could not sit on the bed and getting in and out hurt the back of your legs. The sofa wasn't big enough for us all to sit on it together. There was no handle for the grill and no fish slice to make a fried egg. The curtains didn't cover all of the window. The hot tub was lovely but there wasn't enough light to see the steps to get in and out of it at night, nor to see the path clearly when walking from the car. Only plus for me was the location.
