enjoyed myself. thank you
Our family of 4 we're planning on rustic camping in Newaygo. However the forecast turned bad after the first night of our trip. We wanted something affordable comfortable and got more than we thought we could. The dock and kayaks were in great shape. There was a nice little communal firepit that was great for s'mores. With breaks in the storms we got to swim, kayak, then watch some TV play some board/card games, and have a nice fire. All within our price range and 8 minutes from a super market. The stove/oven worked great. Stand up shower to wash off with plenty of head space for someone over 6 foot. Two twin full beds kept the peace for 2 boys 10 & 13. Wi-Fi worked great.
This clean and cozy cottage was in a great location and as advertised. The hosts were very prompt to all communications and needs while staying with them. We'd definitely return here.
Easy instructions. Exactly as shown in pics no surprises. Beautiful easy hiking trails nearby. Some favourites included Marshall trail, Newaygo River walk and Dragon trail. Enjoyed our stay.
Great place to rest and fish.
What a quaint and cozy little cottage! We loved that we were able to sit on the front patio and see the water right from our cottage. Our 14 year old son was quite content throughout our stay, enjoying time on the paddle boat and kayak. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for a quiet and very peaceful getaway.
Two friends and I rented Cabin 2 for a girls weekend and had a great time! We did a little bit of shopping in Newago before we got there and again after we left but we enjoyed the location so much we never left once we got there. The hosts are friendly, on the property, quick to respond to any questions but not at all intrusive. We enjoyed chatting with them a couple of times. Since there is a lot of shared space, we enjoyed chatting a bit with the other guests but did not feel like they intruded on our vacation. The only negatives were that there isn’t any beach, just a dock, and the bedrooms got stuffy at night (but we were there during a hot spell). The ac and fans provided are noisy. That said, we are already talking about another stay! Plus, I would feel very safe and comfortable if I went by myself.
We stayed in cabin #2 and loved it. It is one of the closest cabins to the water. The size was perfect for our family of four - one small bedroom with a queen bed and another small bedroom with twin bunk beds. The kitchen and living room area are combined into one fairly small area that works perfectly. I thought, for the owner's sake, that a fold out couch might be wise, that maybe they could charge more for the space if they did, but it wasn't expected or necessary. It was just me admiring the little cabin and my imagination wandering. I loved how the keys were in the drop box waiting for us and that didn't need to make a trip into the office. The area was quiet and peaceful, despite the cabins being close together and completely booked. The kitchen included a regular fridge and stove, just a little smaller so they were in proportion to the size of the cabin. I appreciated the dishes, silverware, cookware, towels, and bedding, which are not available in some other places. There is a little mom n' pop restaurant just down the road (turn left out of he driveway), which we stopped at for a quick breakfast after checking out. If the restaurant parking lot looks full, don't assume the restaurant is. It is bigger than it looks and has a breakfast buffet so there was no waiting for a table, service or food. The buffet looks small but it is wonderful and has all the breakfast foods that are being restocked constantly. What a blessing to stay at a quaint little cabin with water right there and with a yummy little restaurant right around the corner. For the sake of honesty and so you don't think I am sugar-coating this review, I will also share the two things that were not perfect (I am definitely not complaining). We stayed near the water on a very windy February weekend, so it was exceptionally cold outside. Our cabin was warm but the bedrooms were a little chilly. No problem, though, because we used the awesome space heaters that were already in each bedroom. They kept us nice and toasty! The only other thing is how the plumbing in the bathroom drained slowly, which could have been from the exceptionally cold weather. We let the owners know simply out of courtesy, just in case they were not aware and they arranged for the plumber to check it out the following day. Overall, a wonderful experience which actually exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to future stays, as it is the perfect little cabin for family of four. Our relatives agree.
