Very nice house; great neighbors; having a full size washer/dryer was a great plus. Communication with the property manger was A+. Answered our questions almost immediately.
Had a great stay at a great cottage
Cute cottage on quiet lake. View is beautiful. Perfect for small family or 2 couples. Cottage has all the basic amenities needed for lake life. Small grassy area for fire pit, parking for 2-3 cars. Close to several towns for groceries & restaurants. Drive back to cottage is very secluded (2 track, very narrow). Nice dock, but no sandy beach area and no way to easily get into the lake as the shoreline is covered in big rocks. Row boat for fishing is nice. Needs a locking bin for trash cans, the racoons visit daily. Could use an additional storage space for food items brought. Downstairs bedroom could use a real door.
We loved the place! It was very well maintained, right on the water with a great deck. The owners were friendly and helpful.
I am very happy I chose this place. I would definitely recommend Beresford Cottage to my friends. Looking forward to staying here again.
Excellent location, well maintained cottage. Clean, properly outfitted. We plan to be back next year.
This property is beautiful! The home was clean and cozy. We were close to all activities and went to Crystal Lake for swimming. Boating and fishing were fun on Lower Platte. We kayak to a small inlet to Lake Michigan. Avon all we enjoyed our stay.
This beautiful cottage was well-kept and very clean. It’s a fun drive all the way down the one lane road to the cottage . You really don’t need to buy firewood , you can find some laying around the property for your fire. This three day vacation I took with my family before the kids went back to school. We had a blast, we sat on the dock fishing and even seen a friendly fox that came up to the campfire. Lake Michigan is about a 15 minute drive and they have a beautiful beach with swings for your family. I wish we could have stayed longer, we did not want to leave. Thanks again for the rental, hope to rent it again sometime in the future!!
We stayed at Beresford Cottage for 3 weeks, and it was a special place for our Pure Michigan vacation! The cottage is very clean and tastefully decorated and accommodated our family of 6 perfectly. It was very convenient to have such a nice washer/dryer, and having the rowboat and kayaks right there added to our fun on the lake. Lower Herring Lake is a hidden gem. After hiking or sightseeing during some days, the beauty and solitude of the lake and environs welcomed us home. The location is perfect for experiencing the up north activities. Frankfort is charming, and their beach on Lake Michigan was fun as well. Our hosts could not have been more helpful, and we appreciated their knowledge of the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Beresford Cottage and would love to return. A Kansas City Couple, July 2018
The cottage is cute and comfortable for approx 6 people, ideally 1 family and only 2 adults. We had 8 people, 4 adults and 4 kids and it was too crowded and only 1 couch for family room seating. No really comfortable seating and could use a loveseat instead of the uncomfortable chairs in the family room. We’ve rented often from HomeAway and have usually been pretty happy with the rentals, but this one missed the mark on some of the basics. The kitchen had very little cupboard space to put any groceries and very little counter space. It had 1 soup spoon, all extremely dull knives, no cookie sheets, but it did have an electric griddle. The cottage had no clocks in it, which wasn’t a big deal for me, but my mom, who doesn’t have a cell phone was lost with no clocks and had no idea what time it was when she got up in the morning. There are no closets in any of the bedrooms, so no where to hide luggage and make more room. Dresser in downstairs bedroom too small to accommodate 2 people’s clothing. Keep in mind that the 2 bedrooms upstairs get extremely hot and even with multiple fans going was difficult to get a good nights sleep. Not the owners fault, but not ideal having an abandoned cottage next door about 15 feet away with waist high grass. Owners cottage is on the other side of cottage about 15 feet away. We were also told there would be a small beach area and there was none. The owners did attempt to shovel some sand on the grass by the dock area during our stay, but we felt that was something that def should have been taken care of before our stay, not during. The swimming area was not sandy, but could be with some cleaning up. Removing the tree in front of the beach would be good too, since it doesn’t seem to serve any useful purpose, blocks the view and part of the shoreline. The owners did seem like nice people and could prob improve this rental failrly easily if desired. There were no chaise lounge chairs for outside relaxing, just regular chairs. The sunsets were very pretty and the lake is quiet, although I believe we heard the constant hum of a generator, which may be supplying the electricity to a group of cottages here. All in all, just not the standard rental we are used to, but the reasonable price per night here is reflected in what you get. You can tell that some remodling has been done and freshly painted, which was nice. I wished I had spent a little more money and got a nicer, bigger place for our family.
