Nice place to spend the night. No tv or wifi only clock is built into the kitchen range.Needed a decent place near trail of tears this fit the bill
My children and I have stayed at Centennial Cottage twice now and each time has been a great experience. It is clean and has all the accommodations that we need as a family. I especially appreciate the washer/dryer and stove so I can save money (no laundromats or eating out every day). The location is perfect to family we have in the area, too. I am already planning our next stay!
The property was clean.
I guess I overlooked the lack of internet or TV. I will own that part of my experience. There was no inside locks or way to secure access to the property once inside. I do not travel with a firearm, but this is one place where I would have felt better with one. After going to bed, someone was manipulating the door handle. That was very frightening. I would have chalked it up to paranoia, but there were other subtle sounds at the other door and porch, and then again at the back door later. I determined not to take a chance on the second night, so I checked out in the morning and left there early. The barking dog close by went on late into the night, and started again early the next morning as soon as the sun peaked through. The town offers solitude, but my experience was less than peaceful. I felt lucky to get away without something worse occurring and the cost of losing my second day was worth the price of avoiding another sleepless night.
Great little house, clean and comfortable. Tucked away in Cobden, but just a short drive to several wineries! Would book again in a heartbeat!!
We were staying for my daughter's wedding which was literally a straight shot down the road. The cottage was exactly what we needed with enough room to get ready and close by in case we forgot anything. We did get to enjoy the orchard our last day there. Would love to come back and enjoy all the other awesome sites in the area when we aren't so busy.
We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage! Centrally located on the wine trail, and so quiet. Our bed was really comfortable, and I am picky! Very clean and decorated very cute. We will be back!
Cute and clean
This is a recently updated cottage with very nice appointments such as kitchenware, bedding, towels, etc. with lots of little niceties (extra shampoo, coffee, sugar, salt/pepper) not often found in many stand alone properties. Location is good and within easy walking distance of a park and a couple restaurants/bars.
Space was clean. Would stay again.
Great area, plenty to do.
Clean and good location.
This property is perfectly located, clean, updated and well-appointed. Had absolutely everything we could need for a short weekend stay. Highly recommend!!
The stay was just as described. I would definitely stay there again!! FYI the front door was unlocked and the front window will not stay locked.
Fun
We decide to take one last weekend getaway to southern IL for some hiking, wineries, and local artisans and the Cobden, Centennial cottage was perfect for us. Two adults and 3 dogs, were very comfortable in this newly renovated 2 bedroom cottage. We met Jenny, the owner, randomly at the Peachbarn Winery and she was so kind and helpful - super responsive via text as well. I wouldn’t say it’s a fancy VRBO, but it was a super comfortable and relaxing VRBO - which is exactly what we were looking for. The beds slept really well. And you can’t get a better breakfast than the Iron Whisk just a short drive or walk away from the cottage. We will definitely return when we are back in Southern IL for a quick hiking getaway!
