Hands-Down Best Deal in Catalina!

We had a wonderful stay at this property in Hamilton Cove. The apartment was beautiful, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The views and location made the experience even more special, and the golf cart was a great convenience for exploring Avalon. Our host was responsive and very accommodating. Overall, a fantastic stay. We would happily return.

Too many stairs this is definitely a workout to get to the unit. Children screaming from the pool area. I really wanted to enjoy the jacuzzi but looking for relaxation time not kids being loud. The unit itself had nice view. And overall really nice. Too many details before checking in i was overwhelmed.

Great property at a great location. And hey provide a golf cart for us to move about the island while we are there. The only issue, and one mentioned by a lot of reviewers, so we were aware when we booked, is property maintenance. Fixtures like the toilet paper holder in one of the restrooms are broken and just balanced as if they are ok.

It’s a beautiful place to stay and so relaxing the view is amazing. The only problem is most of the knobs need to fix like bathtub knob, door knobs, stove knob need to fix. Otherwise I will come back again.

It was a lovely view once you got to the unit. Bad news was that no one told us there would be 72 steps to get to the unit with our bags. There were no markings on the walls to direct us to the unit. The door lock box was so high I could not reach it to obtain the key. My son was tall enough. We had to fix the toilet, there was garbage in and outside of the unit. The correct remotes were not in the unit to use the Television. The land line did not work nor did our cells so we could not contact anyone for assistance. As lovely as the view was, we will not be returning.

It needs to be stressed in the property description that access involves climbing up 73 steps. The property is in serious need of a few hours of concentrated maintenance. We called the property manager about a window that was broken when we got there and no one ever came to fix it. There are peeling floors, broken appliances, a leaking shower, a running toilet, gouges out of the plaster walls -- and on and on.

Great gated community located on a hillside on Catalina, the ocean view was incredible. Cons, it was up 7 flights of stairs, our unit was dated especially the kitchen, old dirty appliances, cabinets and many areas in the house had streaks/holes/chunks of paint missing. Doors to patio stuck badly had broken handles. No Kleenex or paper towels were left for us, tried calling the 2 numbers with no luck as VM was full. Guest bath had rusted parts on shower door and sink was completely loose sitting atop counter. Worth the nightly rate but only for the view and location. Will return to Catalina definitely not that unit.

We arrived to a fairly clean unit. Although after walking around we found several items needing a bit of repair like toilet paper holder not attatched to wall, some windows unable to open, towels left in the dryer for us to deal with during our stay. While the beds were very comfortable, the view very nice and comfortable areas to rest and relax. I was asked to start a load of towel/sheets wash and we found no laundry detergent, so I had to use what I carry in my suitcase. I kind of thought they would have some.

We had an amazing stay at this Hamilton Cove property on Catalina Island—the panoramic ocean views alone made it unforgettable. The unit is beautifully renovated with lots of natural light, high ceilings, and a relaxing open layout that instantly puts you in vacation mode. We loved having coffee on the patio in the mornings and watching the sunset in the evenings. The space was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described, with everything we needed for a great stay. The location is perfect—quiet and scenic, yet just a short ride into Avalon—giving you the best of both convenience and a peaceful escape. We’d absolutely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at the villa and truly appreciated the thoughtful layout and ambiance. The living area was perfect for lounging, whether sipping morning coffee, enjoying cocktails and appetizers during happy hour, or settling in for a movie night. It was a great space to relax and connect.There are a few things we’d like to bring to your attention to help improve future guest experiences:• We had a rainstorm during our visit and found the outdoor deck unusable after the weather cleared, as the chair cushions remained soaked. Consider upgrading to all-weather seating to make the space more resilient and enjoyable year-round.• Upon arrival, the washer was loaded with wet towels and the dryer was running with an oversized load that never fully dried. We had to run the dryer throughout our stay to manage the towels, which wasn’t ideal.• The shower had visible mold. A deeper cleaning between guests would be appreciated.• The golf cart could use some maintenance. The golf cart’s Isinglass panels were loose and continuously fell during transit, which was both startling and potentially hazardous and the scratched front window made driving toward the sun quite hazardous. We also weren’t confident the cart had enough power to navigate the hills leading to the upper streets.Overall, we loved the villa’s charm and comfort, and with a few updates, it could be even more exceptional. We had an amazing stay here! The views were incredible WOW!! We didn’t want to leave. It had everything you needed. People mentioned there’s a lot of stairs but we didn’t mind at all. Especially with the reward that awaits you with those views. We did have an issue with the golf cart at one point but the host was prompt and got it fixed immediately which we were so thankful for. Highly recommend this place to anyone!!

Beautiful cond! We loved it!

It was gorgeous! Clean, spacious, great view, easy to drive the golf cart to/from. The ONLY downside was the 72 stairs to get to the front door. The pool was great, the spa was great, really the only downside was the stairs.

We arrived at our unit [4-17] mid afternoon on Aug. 21st. The front door was difficult to unlock, after some push and shove managed to open the door. Upon entering the unit, we noticed a lot of derbies on the floor, mainly hair. My wife's socks picked up bunch of hair as she was walking around the unit. unit has 2 bathrooms, one of which had broken flush and wasn't working at all. As there's no air conditioning in the unit, we tried to open a couple of the windows with rusty latches with great difficulty. we found some clothing and old bedding in the closets, looked like someone else was living there while we were renting the unit. Some light fixtures were not turning on, possibly burnt out light bulbs. Too many issues with the rental unit to mention here.

Hamilton Cove is an absolute slice of Heaven! The grounds are kept, safe, and stunning!

Lovely stay in Hamilton Cove, the beach and pool/spa were fantastic and very well kept. Hosts recommendations for local spots in the binder are spot on and highly recommended to follow.

The pictures do not do this unit justice. The unit itself is much larger than it appears. There was plenty of space to find a quiet spot or gather as a group. The French doors open up to breathtaking views of the property and ocean. I feels like you’re on Santorini.There are so many amenities that this property offers from croquet, golf, swimming pool, jacuzzi and fitness room. The location is amazing. You are tucked away in what feels like a more exclusive part of the island, because it is in a gated community with on site security. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else on Catalina.

Great unit with expansive views. Perfect unit that had everything we needed. We were two couples and this was perfectly comfortable.

The condo had a great view! Need a taxi to get to the property, it is a good walk. Master Bedroom only had bath, no shower. There are steps to get into the living room, Kitchen and Master bedroom

Catalina Island is a paradise, so no matter where you stay, you’re in for a great time. My partner, friends, and I had an amazing three-day trip at this property, though some concerns did arise. The owner messaged me about a rental contract, which was a bit more involved than expected, but once submitted, everything was smooth. Finding the unit was tricky—the gate guard required a building number (not listed in the ad), but they helped us figure out it was Building 4. Be prepared for lots of stairs but the balcony view was worth it.The unit was great—Roku TV with free streaming, stunning glass doors overlooking the ocean, and a fantastic area. Golf-carting around the area is a must, offering a sauna, hot tub, pool, private beach, tennis & basketball courts, and more. Catalina conserves water, so there’s no fridge water filter or bottled water provided—bring your own!Bring warm clothes and blankets—no central heat, just small space heaters that short-circuited our power one night (quickly resolved by the property manager).The biggest downside—we found mice droppings on the kitchen counter, and a sealed chip bag was chewed into overnight. The manager claimed there were “no issues” due to monthly exterminations, which seemed inaccurate.Despite this, we loved our stay. The balcony view, location, and nearby activities—zip-lining, scenery, a pet cemetery, gift shops, and parasailing—made it worth it.

My family loved the home! Although, we didnt have hot water for showers, which was a bummer, but it might have to do with the water restrictions the island is on.

It is hard to leave the balcony of this unit because the view is so awesome. I sent friends photos and they kept asking when did you go to Greece. Mid-January is a great time to visit the island if you like no crowds in town. However, many restaurants were closed because if the off-season. The condo was very nicely decorated and well-maintained. Having 2 bedrooms face the ocean was a nice surprise! There are about 72 stairs to this unit so pack light and get ready to get your steps in.

The condo had several things that were minor but added up.It is a bit dated and does not seem to have the attention to detail. That being said it is a perfect location and views were amazing. BEDS were fabulous.

Great location away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Spectacular view and unit was clean and tidy. Appreciated the use of the golf cart so we were able to explore the island. Do not recommend bringing more then a carry on sized bag/suitcase as there are many exterior stairs to climb before accessing the unit and if you have any physical limitations that may impede climbing many flights of stairs you may want to consider another lodging option. Overall, our stay was quite, relaxing and comfortable and we look forward to going back again soon.

The location of this Condo is perfect, close to beach, close to pool and views just can’t be beat. This is a corner Condo so you get a bit more privacy and extra views. Hamilton Cove itself is quiet and very well kept… a little piece of heaven.

We spent two days at Catalina for my daughter’s birthday. The condo was beautiful and had plenty of room for everyone to feel comfortable. I don’t recall seeing anything in the description that getting to and front the unit requires a lot of stair climbing so I was happy that we didn’t bring the grandparents because it certainly would have been an issue with no elevator. Other than that, we will book two nights rather than one next time so we can really enjoy the property and not have to worry about checking out and getting to the boat on time.
