Mammoth Cave, Kentucky
This 1300 sq ft Amish-built cabin has three floors and 800 sq ft of covered deck, balcony, whirlpool, porch swing, hot tub, foosball table, grill, fire pit, and an 18-hole disc golf course designed by John Houck on our 87-acre property. The cabin is 7 miles from the Mammoth Cave National Park visitors center taking the Green River Ferry. It stands by itself next to our woods, quiet (except for the birds singing), and a private 6-person spa. Spend a quiet summer evening on the covered deck watching the sunset and then the stars come alive!
There are many outdoor activities in the immediate area, including disc golf (on the property). hiking in Mammoth Cave National Park (4 miles to trailheads), horseback riding (next door), kayaking, ball golf (2 miles), ATV park (2 miles), beach (Nolin Lake State Park 5 miles), fishing, and boating.
My family of four loved that we were in the woods surrounded by a disc golf course. We enjoyed the beautiful views, the hot tub, and having multiple floors when we wanted some alone time to relax. The kids had a blast in the downstairs. The cabin was clean, the kitchen well stocked and Frank was helpful and informative at check in. We knew it was going to be a drive to go anywhere, but the atmosphere was worth it to us! We enjoyed the fall scenic drives to Mammoth Cave and our other destinations.
The cabin is perfect if you like your own space, in nature, and away from the touristy stuff. It is a bit of a drive to get to the caves (45 minutes) and the options for restaurants are very minimal. We did discover a great place with a good menu - Buoy at the Lodge, located at the boat ramp for Nolin Lake. The cabin has been a rental for years, so typical wear and tear is evident. Owner, Frank, graciously checked us in and went over the hot tub at the cabin after we missed the smaller font pointing to check-in. My daughter wants to go back already to play more fusball and soak in the hot tub. My son loved the Roku TV as we left his device at home to attempt to have time to reconnect without devices. The bed my husband and I used was comfortable. Should our schedules permit us to come back, I'll definitely plan/prepare food options better. We greatly appreciated the cabins' comfort and available spaces to come together as well as just rest.
We enjoyed the stay. The hot tub was fun and cabin was quiet ?
We had a lovely time at the cabin! The kids loved the hot tub. The beds were very comfortable and everyone slept well. Thank you for this wonderful place.
Nice relaxing weekend except hottub
We loved the location in the woods. It was very clean and the owner is extremely friendly.
Loved the log cabin in the woods! Nice land and a great property! Great for families!
We had a good experience staying at the cabin. The disc golf course on property was a highlight for us and our kids. Host was available and responsive.
We loved staying at this quiet, clean, relaxing cabin! Our 3 kids stayed downstairs and it was a great space for them. We loved our bedroom upstairs with a jacuzzi tub. We used the Green River ferry to get to the Mammoth Cave tour. We loved the hiking near the cabin at Nolin Lakes Park. The cabin was a great space for our family of 5 who loves quiet, natural places.
If you are looking to ‘get away’ this is the place for you. This is exactly what we were after. Very remote and close to mammoth cave. The green river ferry was as exciting as it was convenient. Our trip was cut short due to severe weather; the cabin lost power and so did thousands of other people and Mammoth Cave closed. The owner was helpful but not much could be done.
If you like hiking, caves, campfires, disc golf or privacy, this is the cabin for you. I would recommend it to any of my friends or family.
My wife and I wanted a weekend away to break up our winter and this was perfect for us! It was pretty far away from any city and even most small towns, which is exactly what we wanted. We're also big into sight-seeing in national parks and mammoth cave was next on our list. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed, in fact it was partially stocked with spices, and even coffee and coffee filters(it should be noted the coffee maker is a kuerig, so bring your K-cups), however these may have been left behind by others that have stayed. The hot tub was wonderful and a must for after some of the hiking we did inside of the park! This is probably about as close to the park as you can stay without actually renting lodging through mammoth cave visitor center. Frank was friendly and informative about the area when we arrived and met with him. Thank you very much for the amazing stay and helping us mark off another notch on our national parks list!
Beautiful property, well-kept on a disc golf course. Secluded but with ready access to town. Our family had a great time and the owners were very easy to communicate with and informative. Would definitely book here again!
Everything was amazing. Property manager was very nice and helped us with getting my sons meds delivered to us while we stayed. Cabin was clean and the hot tub was amazing! Will be back!
The scenery is breathtaking! We would DEFINITELY stay again, but it's worth calling out a few details. Very rural area w nothing close for stores/restaurants, but still TOTALLY worth it! The cabin is not in perfect shape (but definitely not in bad shape!). It lacked nightstands & a dishwasher, but we slept comfortably & you just couldn't beat the treetop views!
Nice and quiet
My husband and I enjoyed a 3-day relaxed vacation together here. We didn't do much in town because we wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of real life. But the property is just off of Mammoth Cave National Park. We took a walk through the woods adjacent to the cabin and enjoyed the hot tub. I had mimosas on the front porch swing in the mornings and wine in the evening. We also had a local massage therapist come to the cabin to give us both a massage. We did so on one of the nice outdoor porches. It is quiet and peaceful here. There is also frisbee golf on the property. The cabin itself is extremely clean. Some of the furnishings/decor could be updated but it had everything that is needed for a perfect stay in nature. Cable service and Wi-Fi was easily accessible and without interruption on the property. You can hear the birds chirping and watch butterflies play on a burning bush just off of the front porch. Frank was very easy to work with and his little diner just up the street serves good food and ice cream. They also make handmade milkshakes. If you are looking to get away from society but be within a short drives distance to stores and restaurants, this is the place to be. We definitely will be back.
Everything went as we hoped.
The location of this property is perfect for multiple days in Mammoth Cave Park. The house is beautiful and the owner is very responsive. The extensive acreage of the property was fun for our family to explore. I would definitely recommend this rental house.
