This custom built log house (sleeps 4-5)sits on the original spring house foundation from the early 1800's. The house is in the foot hills of the Maryland Mountains near world class golf resorts, ski resorts, shopping, antiquing, fantastic hiking, and some of the nation’s most important historic battlefields. The cabin is all wood inside and out. It has a large stone fireplace, as well as a classic wood stove which can be used for cooking and baking. Unfortunately due to a few incidents we have changed our policy to no wood-burning fires inside the cabin. We do have a fireplace insert that holds fuel cans that burn for a nice cozy atmosphere without endangering our guests or the cabin. We’ve recently installed a new heating and AC system so the cabin is warm and toasty in winter and cool in summer. The bedrooms are actually open 2 open loft areas with a catwalk connecting them to a central landing. The upstairs is open to the downstairs and leaves the cabin with a large spacious feeling. The 2 beds are built in and each loft has a small seating area and a private balcony. There is a small convertible sofa that can be extended for 1 additional sleeper. There’s a deck off the back, overlooking the main house’s back yard and the neighboring horse fields. The back deck in the mornings can’t be beat for sipping coffee and watching the horses as the dew burns off the fields.

The cabin reeked of cigarettes, despite being posted as a non smoking residence. The bathroom had clearly not been cleaned and the toilet was dirty. The cups were all crusty and there were cobwebs everywhere. We attempted to work out a refund for one of our nights, after chalking the first night up to a loss but we never had any response from the landlord. A very disappointing listing.

The cabin was cozy and pet friendly. The limited privacy during bathroom usage and precarious driveway configuration would have be nice to be included in the description.

Description of cabin was not accurate. We traveled with an exchange student so we needed 2 bedrooms, for privacy. There was an open loft with 2 beds and in living room, couch that pulled into bed, also bath room door was a folding door, no privacy provided. We stayed 1 night and went to hotel and had to book 2 rooms for our 2nd night. VRBO description is now been made more accurate, and pictures shows a better description. We were told we would get part of 2nd night stay if cabin was clean but have not received any partial refund.

Our overall experience was nice and relaxing place to be. However, during the cold months. The second floor was warm enough to sleep, but the first floor was very cold, especially when it gets down to 19 at night when there’s no heat because all the heat travels to the second floor/loft. There was a space heater, but didn’t realize it until after we left. The host was easy to get a hold of through messages. The only recommendation I would say is maybe put a firebox insert in the fireplace to heat the first floor. But still enjoyed our time.

This was a lovely getaway for me and my girlfriend. There were a few issues: the cabin could use a good dusting in kind of obvious spaces, host told us the cleaners hadn’t been in halfway through and that was a tad disconcerting, and I don’t think the listing mentioned how the cabin is so close to the main property. We think the privacy was still pretty good, but it would’ve been nice had that been clearer up front. Overall, a good stay.

Quaint adorable cabin nestled next to battlefields and short drive to Harpers Ferry. Beautiful deck in back overlooking woods. We hiked at various lookouts and did the ranger talk in town (highly recommend). Magical 3 day 2 nights. Completely relaxed!

We had a great time! Due to unavoidable circumstances our reservation was cancelled the day we were supposed to leave. Normally that would have ruined our trip but our host Joe found us a replacement cottage a few miles away and saved the day. The cottage was perfect and had the rustic feel we were looking for. It was more expensive than the original property but Joe said not to worry about the price they would take care of it. 10/10 for the property 20/10 for our great host! Thank you for a great weekend. Highly recommended!!!

Very cute little cabin. Stairs to upstairs are steep, but manageable. Bed was comfortable. The chair that pulls out for bed is full size. Not terribly comfortable because there is a wood piece that is about 1/3 the way from the back of the chair that you can feel through the cushion, but it was still a good option for someone who has difficulty with the stairs. The bathroom is small with airplane type toilet, but that was kind of fun. There is a louvre door to the bathroom, so not much privacy, but we made do. It served us well for the 2 of us and the 2 dogs and the quirkiness made it fun too.

If i would have know that there was down decorative pillows i would not have stayed. My family reunion was cut short to my extreme allergies to down. Throw pillows upstairs to try to get some relief...but throat was sweeling shut. My one son sprained.his ankle on the rolled off driveway. Horrible parking. The cabin was very dusty with all the knick knacks and unable to wash the walls. Im sure others would enjoy it but it just was a bad experience. Oh the door know is loose unable to lock. Debbie D.
