Come unwind in this truly unique and authentic log cabin in a very peaceful setting close by to the town of Hot Springs. This 100+ year old cabin was disassembled from an old holler in Madison County and lovingly rebuilt by local craftsmen. Step back in time while enjoying modern conveniences of Wifi, a hot tub and a fireplace. The beautiful French Broad River is a short walk (5 minutes) from your front door. Your own park like setting.

The Limestone Cabin is a showcase of master craftmanship made from whole timbers and river rock.

Step onto the spacious front porch and into this magnificent cabin. The living room has cozy seating and a riverstone fireplace with gas firelogs for ease and comfort. A nice place to chill and connect or watch a little TV. The sofa is a sleeper sofa that can sleep an additional 2 people.

The downstairs of the cabin is all one open space. The kitchen has all the basics that you need to prepare and make meals if you choose to eat in. There is also a gas grill on the porch for other cooking options.

The bathroom on the main floor does have a shower, and we provide all linens for your stay.

Up the steps from the living room is the loft and new king bed. There is a half bath located in the loft as well.

Besides the beauty of the cabin itself, we think it has several awesome features:

There is a hot tub on the back porch! Perfect way to start your day with a cup of coffee, or end the day after exploring our beautiful area.

The large front porch that looks out at the French Broad River! Yall, the porch feels huge! Ideal spot for yoga, playing cards, hanging out, reading, or whatever you feel like doing on a front porch!

River Access!

The French Broad River is a short walk from Limestone (5 minutes) and is part of this property. There is a large hayfield that is harvested a couple of times a year. When the hay is growing, we mow some paths into the field so guest can walk around. Depending on what your activity schedule is, you may never want to leave this spot. Perfect for a picnic, fishing, and watching the water roll by. For added enjoyment you may bring your favorite camp chairs or hammock setup. We have made a walkway down to the river on the far right of the field.

Other Notes:

The cabin is managed by a local hosting team, Hot Springs Getaway.

The railroad track does pass through, and there are trains that still travel through the mountains to and from Knoxville to Asheville maybe twice per day. In a time before there were cars and rail transport, the road to Limestone and beyond was called the Drover's Road, where merchants would walk their goods to and from markets along the French Broad.

The cabin is located less than 5 miles to the sweet town of Hot Springs, NC. We think Hot Springs is a wonderland in all seasons. There are plenty of activities in the area to check out, such as rafting the French Broad with one of our local companies, hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail, taking a soak at the Hot Springs mineral baths at the Resort and Spa, visiting some of our great area shops and restaurants. If you venture a little over an hour away, you could explore Asheville or take a fun trip to Dollywood.

I think people who are wanting to find a getaway that is low key, in an amazing area, and abundant in nature will enjoy spending time at Limestone. It is a marvelous place of wonder, and a bit of an automatic reset to a more relaxed mindset.

The businesses that are open in town include The Hot Springs Resort and Spa (call in advance to book your mineral soak appointment), Big Pillow Brewing with the Grey Eagle Taqueria food truck, Vinyl Pies with their delicious brick oven pizza, Bluff Mountain Outfitters, Hot Springs Rafting Company, Vaste Riviere Outpost, Artisun Coffee and Emporium, Sara Jo’s Gas Station, Smoky Mountain Diner, Dollar General, and a couple of beverage/small grocery stores. They would love your business.

Many trails are accessible around the area, and Hot Springs is a central location for adventures in Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, and the Smokey Mountains National Park. Nearby attractions are the Biltmore Estate, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and more.

*Over the years, we’ve seen guests need to cancel for all kinds of understandable reasons. Because life can be unpredictable, we recommend considering the Travel Insurance offered by each booking platform. We’re not trying to add an extra expense — we’ve personally felt the disappointment of having to cancel a trip and not receiving a refund due to a policy’s terms. As a small business, we do need to follow the stated cancellation policy for each reservation

beautiful cabin, beautiful scenery, very accommodating hosts. only problem is there is a one lane road to get to the cabin and construction at the bottom . we had to back half way down the mountain due to a large construction truck coming in as we were leaving. there is no way to turn around or pull off the road, so backing down the mountain is the only alternative, We will visit again but with the traffic situation in mind.

Everything about our stay was fantastic! From check-in to any questions we had about the house and getting out of there when we got snowed in, I don't think I've stayed in a place better than this. I look forward to staying here again in the future. All amenities were as described and the location is perfect. I could gush further, but just take my word for it that you will not be disappointed. Thank you so much for everything!

Very private and cozy cabin! Cabin was very clean and the hot tub was great. All basic household items provided. We just wish the river was accessible from the cabin.

We stayed for 3 nights and never left the property. The view from the porch was perfect for morning coffee viewing the sunrise. The hot tub was clean and we used it several times a day. We did run in to a bear on a walk but thankfully it ran off in to the woods. The bed was comfortable. We did bring a curtain to put in the doorway upstairs so it didn’t feel so open. All floor level windows except the window over the kitchen sink had curtains (we used a bed sheet to cover that window at night). We got to see the train a couple of times during our stay which was exciting. It was super quiet and a perfect place to hibernate for several days. The road that runs next to the tracks is narrow but we didn’t run in to any other cars so it didn’t bother us. We look forward to coming back in colder weather to enjoy the firepit.
