Perfect e erything exceededour hopes. Drive way EZ, place was all you would ever want.
Driveway is very steep with several switchbacks. Tried to connect with owner but no response.
The property had a great location for what we wanted to do during our trip. This property has 4 TVs. All of which have access to streaming services, but these are “not offered amenities at this location” direct tv does not work here either and the water softener located off the kitchen is extremely loud every time water is used. The hot tub temperature randomly went from 104 to 90, and back to 104. If you intend on just sleeping here, this is a great location close to plenty of destinations. If you intend on watching tv or enjoying the hot tub, then find somewhere else to stay. The internet is super slow and spotty. Screen mirroring on the tv also does not work properly. For the price, a nice hotel would work better in most cases.
My family frequently visists this area and this was one of the best places we have ever stayed! This well appointed cabin was perfect for our relaxing family getaway. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the home was stocked with everything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and we truly enjoyed the peace and quiet of this mountain retreat! I hope our travels bring us back to Hawks Landing very soon!
Inside was clean and comfortable
No tv. In any of bedrooms. Went one whole day refrigerator not working. Roaches found couple different places.
We never even made it inside this house located up one of the most treacherous roads most folks can imagine. I drive a truck and we were never even able to make it in to the driveway. After almost going over a cliff to get back down, I called the property manager and was told that because of strict North Carolina laws, they wouldn’t consider a refund or credit towards a future stay. I called VRBO and they put me right back in touch with the property manager and according to their staff and many reviews, this is a regular occurrence with this property. I asked if the owner was notified and was told no so I’m going to call him tomorrow in Ft. Lauderdale to discuss the situation. I have rented from VRBO since the app was invented , several trips a year but this will be the last one if we can’t come to a settlement. We had young drivers joining us for a graduation weekend and for their safety I had to find another, more expensive house at the last minute. So I had 2 VRBO rentals over the last 4 days. Very disappointed with VRBO and especially the property manager, VACASA. If I have to spend more on an attorney than the cost of the rental I’m willing to do it because of the series of events. Completely took away from what was supposed to be a family celebration weekend.
We came through with our family for a cheer competition, the property was perfect. We enjoyed using the fire pit and the great views.
We enjoyed the cabin. Getting up was ok because there was no ice or snow. TV was interesting to work.
This rental was spotless when we arrived. Not to mention the pictures just do not do it any justice. Very quiet place to stay. LOVED the hot tub. It ended up raining our last night there so having a covered hot tub was great. We brought our own toiletries just incase but there were plenty of amenities left for us. Previous reviews talked about the water smelling. It does have a smell, but it is not super strong. Not unbearable. The road is STEEP! But we had no trouble getting up it. Thankfully it is paved and upkept very well. Overall we have a great experience here and would definitely come back/recommend!
The water smell was atrocious. The beds need updating, they are not comfortable. Update blankets and have extra sheets and other amenities for renter. Living room furniture is filthy.
We rented this cabin in 2020 for a long weekend and decided to return for a longer vacation. This cabin has everything you need! We were there for 10 days with our dogs and it was idyllic. Close to everything and easy access to all the mountain life activities you want. Cabin was clean and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need. King bed in master bedroom is super comfy. Sulfur smell in the water was not bad at all; must have been addressed. Internet is a little spotty for both of us to be in Zoom meetings at the same time but that turned out to be a blessing as we just unplugged and enjoyed the hot tub and fire-pit. We streamed movies with minimal lagging. Innovation Brewery just mins from the cabin is super dog friendly and a great spot for a beer while sitting by the creek. We are going to make this an annual visit!
Just a heads up…. The water did stank and that’s probably the only negative thing I could say. If your planning to enjoy the hot tub during the fall/winter, we bought some plastic and two small heaters to seal the walls and keep the heat in. There is a roses a few mins down the road that’ll allow you to return the heaters. Drive a SUV type vehicle to pull the steep hills. I read the pass reviews and didn’t experience a lot of the negative things that was mentioned. Great place nice community. Enjoy
Based on a review left two days after booking this non-refundable cabin, myself and guests were extremely worried prior to arriving to what might be a filthy and uncomfortable experience. The driveway to the cabin is extremely steep so have good tires and hope for good weather. We arrived at the wrong cabin first but eventually found it. I would recommend the property add house numbers at the end of the driveway. GPS confuses the destination when they are stacked on a mountain side. Best to arrive during daylight hours. Upon walking in and turning lights on, the lights in the first floor bedroom and hallway blew out immediately. No access to the electrical panel to fix. The bunk bed mattresses were like cardboard and the comforters were sandy/dirty but the sheets were clean. The other beds in the cabin were comfortable. Many reviewers complained about the water smelling like sulfur. Yes, it definitely smelled but we knew this ahead of time so we brought plenty of drinking/cooking water. The hot tub was great, the view was spectacular and it was a quiet and relaxing stay.
Truly unfortunate how poorly this property is getting managed. The house was unclean, floors and kitchen cabinet doors were sticky and still had remnants of food on them. Bedding was old and worn out, rips, holes and stains. The blankets clearly had never been washed. Loose change was still in one of the beds that they had made so that reinforces beds didnt get cleaned or changed. Couch was so dirty we had to cover it with a blanket just to use. Cable tv didn't work and it continously had to be reset. Water in hot tub was dirty and unchanged between clients. House water was nasty and smells like raw sewage. There were only 2 forks in the home to use. Appliances were extteamly filthy. Outside decks werent cleaned or swept. Lighting throughout property broken or just didnt work. The home was poorly marked so it was extreamly difficult to find at night. Nothing was setup or cleaned for a nice guest experience. Finishes in this home were extreamly poor or patched together with calking etc. Paint worn and walls and floors extreamly dirty. When we arrived we complained and nothing was done to address most issues. We were given some bottled water and plastic forks and left in a filthy home with rags for bedding. Completely unacceptable. This property is managed poorly from every aspect. Be warned ⚠️
Nice house and beautiful location. Getting to the house is extremely steep and couldn't imagine going in winter, as for the water the smell is terrible the past reviews were correct. The house wasn't to terribly dirty inside wasn't prestine or that clean either. The hot tub was terrible didn't even get to use at all, it was half empty and had stuff floating all in it. The hot tub screened in deck was also dirty and trash everywhere when we arrived which kinda sucked bc my kids really wanted to enjoy the hot tub. Overall it was a ok house that I would probably not book again.
Listing did not state property would not be reachable by car. Only that 4wheel drive may be needed in winter. We were unable to reach properly and management did not even offer a partial refund or maybe another property.
