Estes Park, Colorado
Bittersweet is five minutes from downtown Estes Park, but feels worlds away. The space was purchased as a summer home by the Sweet sisters in 1972. Its best features are a warm cozy cabin feeling and a view that wraps across the Rockies. From the porch, you can see Twin Sisters, Mt. Meeker and Long's Peak all the way across Estes and the Rocky Mountain National Park to Mt. Ypsilon and bits of Lumpy Ridge. The cabin is between the owner and other family. Some of the space feels 70's and other amenities (like a brand new kitchen sink and front porch) have been updated in the last year.
The property backs up to Roosevelt National Forest, bobcats, rabbits, mountain lions, elk, deer, humming birds and some pesky ground squirrels are the most frequent animals we see (or see evidence of). It's very dark at night to see the Milky Way. There are lots of wildflowers. The bottom of our driveway leads you to a walking path that goes all the way into town (about an hour and a half walk). Quiet hours are 10 pm-7 am.
This has been a relaxation and retreat space for generations; it feels good.
