Linden, Virginia
Endearing log cabin, perfect for anyone looking to getaway. Nestled on five, beautiful acres of land at an altitude of 1800 feet just minutes walk from the Appalachian Trail and creek; and just minutes drive from nearest winery.
Rustic, authentic, Appalachian style log cabin with vaulted ceilings, loft, pot belly wood stove, and three quaint bedrooms: Master (queen) bedroom has own bathroom with large claw foot tub and separate shower. Second bedroom (king) is a huge inviting loft with bright skylights and sliding barn door for privacy. Third bedroom (full) is simple, but cozy. Kitchen has everything you need for your stay including pots, pans, utensils, blender, toaster, coffee pot and more. Back deck overlooks open acre of gently sloping land.
You will want to see this place in every season: Spring brings stunning colors from Forsythia, Red Buds, wild Lillies, and the native mountain flower, Trillium. Experience the dense mountain fog and the nearby peaceful streams and creeks! Our cabin is surrounded by beautiful, enormous poplar trees full of character and shade to complement the cool mountain breeze. Summers on the mountain are an escape from the hot city and are noticeably cooler as you drive up the mountain. Find a hammock and let yourself relax. Winters offer unusual snowfall compared to the bottom of the mountain. In the winter you can watch the sunrise through the trees from the deck or just let the amber light shine through the cabin windows and make a warm cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa, bring your favorite book and get cozy next to the pot belly wood stove!
Fox Meadow is conveniently only a few miles away and offers a stunning view from their open deck or tasting room. Chester Gap will exceed your expectations with a great selection of wine, cozy tasting room, friendly atmosphere, and unparalleled view of the gap in Front Royal. Front Royal Brewery offers great food, live music, and of course, great beer inspired by the local community flavor. Stop on your way up the mountain at The Giving Tree and pick up some last minute items; fresh bread, wine, local produce, milk and eggs. Locals rave about The Apple House. Visit Shenandoah National Park, less than a half hour away. Explore the nearby caverns or Shenandoah River by kayak, just 20 minutes away. Take in the views from Skyline Drive within a beautiful 30 minute drive from the property. There is so much more to see and do. Book with us and come see what this charming area has to offer!
Peaceful, relaxing, extremely comfortable! My favorite place to go and get away! Great owners!
This is a great property for getting away from it all. The cabin is roomy and there is not another building in sight. Very peaceful surroundings. The picture of the loft room, does not do it justice, the room is larger than it appears in the picture. The place was spotless. The host gave us some recommendations for local dining and shopping, and even a complimentary bottle of wine, from the local vineyard. Definitely the perfect place for a relaxing get away.
This is now the 4th time we have rented this property! We LOVE it so much! The property is well maintained, clean, and homey. And the owners are very responsive to questions that may arise while staying (... like if you get lost finding a trail :) ). It is a perfect place to unplug (though they have everything necessary to stay plugged in if you want to) and enjoy a tranquil setting for reading, playing games, bonfires, hiking, and naps!
Great respite from DC for the Memorial Day weekend. The cabin and property are beautiful and Front Royal is only a 20-30 min drive away.
This cabin is well equipped for everything you would need for a fabulous woods get away. The owners are totally responsive and helpful. The porches were our favorite place to sit and chat or listen to nature. Front Royal was a fun day trip with its cute Main Street of shops and food/drink spots. We hope to return again some day.
We really enjoyed our stay at this remote cabin. In the warmer months I'm sure it is just wonderful to sit on the front porch with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.
Great place
This beautiful 5-star cabin had everything we needed for a weeklong vacation. Good location for day hikes on the AT. Highly recommended!
We loved the cabin!! We were there for the Piedmont Classic to watch our Granddaughter compete. The location was perfect to come back to after the day to rest and relax. The owners were great!! Anytime we had a question they answered very promptly and always ended with if there is anything else we can help with please let us know. They even congratulated us on our granddaughter making it to the Piedmont classic. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a very quiet, comfortable place to relax and enjoy nature
Among the many excellent parts of our weekend were: hiking the Appalachian Trail (twice), waking up to amazing bird songs on a foggy morning, and apple donuts at a nearby-ish family run restaurant. A perfect combo of tranquility and activity for family including one 12-yr old kid and two dogs. We all loved it.
